Latitude announces James Blake, Alabama 3, Cats Eyes, and more

Latitude Festival has announced a host of arts additions, alongside music and comedy additions.

The latest acts confirmed for the Lake Stage include experimental electronic composer and singer songwriterJames Blake, alongside new acts, acoustic-rooted songwriter Gary Nock, and Kingston Grammar school’s talent contest winner Gabriella Noble.

Headlining the Sunrise Arena on the Friday evening will be Faris Rotter’s (of The Horrors) band Cats Eyes compromising of Rotter and Italian-Canadian soprano and multi instrumentalist Rachel Zeffira. Whilst Danish quartet When Saints Go Machine will bring cellos, harp strings, electronic squealings and churnings more typical of their K7 label mates to the same stage.

The Comedy Arena sees Robin Ince, and Joe Bor added to the line-up.

Latitude'’s Film & Music Arena latest additions to the line-up include Alabama 3, a Q&A session with Ralph Fiennes, and a screening of ‘'Senna’' a documentary film about the life and death of Brazilian motor-racing champion, Ayrton Senna, followed by a Q&A with the director Asif Kapadia.

As part of Future Cinema's programme this year Guillemots will provide a live score to Akira Kurosawa's 'Dreams'. Director Spike Jonze has teamed up with Arcade Fire to create a 30 minute short film inspired by their album, 'The Suburbs'. 'Scenes From The Suburbs' co-written by Jonze & Arcade Fire's Win Butler & Will Butler will be shown at Latitude this year.

Also getting a screening will be Adam Yauch's comedic short film 'Fight For Your Right Revisited'. This sequel to the events of the original video sees the likes of Seth Rogan, Elijah Wood, Will Ferrell and Jack Black play past and future versions of the band members and includes a bizarre dance off between the old and younger Beastie Boys. Split second cameos also feature from a wide array of actors from Susan Sarandon, Steve Buscemi, Kirsten Dunst, Mary Steenburgen, Chloe Sevigny and the band themselves.

Food critic Jay Rayner will give a talk about his love for jazz piano. 'Just Do It' by film-maker Emily James takes festival goers behind the scenes as it follows James during her time spent embedded in activist groups such as Climate Camp and Plane Stupid. 'Powder', a new film starring Liam Boyle, Alfie Allen & Ralf Little will have an exclusive preview screening at Latitude.

Also screening will be Lena Dunham's second feature film 'Tiny Furniture', Julian Kerridge's 'Seamonsters', and Director and producer Chris Shepherd's three films 'Dog Judo', 'Get Well Soon' and 'Bad Night For The Blues'. Also confirmed is a series of short films created by Seamus Murphy to accompany each song on PJ Harvey's 'Let England Shake' album. The films will be played as a complete visual accompaniment to the album for the first time in the UK at Latitude, before touring elsewhere during the summer.

Stop-motion company Tiny Elephants formed in 2007 by Linda McCarthy will show all four of their films, 'Small Birds Singing', 'A Traditional Christmas at Small Birds Singing', 'The Grand Easter Egg Hunt' and 'Hinterland'.

Animation company 12foot6's 'Get Well Soon', Martin Stirling's 'Automate', Tetsuya Nakashima film 'Confessions', Luke Snellins' 'Disco' featuring music by Cast and Suede, and Neil McCormick's 'Killing Bono' also get a screening in the Film & Music Arena this summer.

Newly confirmed for Latitude's Literary Arena is WordTheatre which gives voice to great writing in the three part series 'Forbidden Fruit: Erotica', 'Here Hear', and 'Sunday Best: Short Stories from The Sunday Times Magazine'.

Contemporary Short Fiction is brought to life by an international cast (subject to change) that includes Julian Sands ('The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'), Gemma Arterton ('Prince of Persia'), Ian Hart ('Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone'), Harriet Walter ('Babel'), Olivia Williams ('An Education'), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje ('Lost'), Juliet Stevenson ('Truly Madly Deeply') and Guy Paul ('Mary Stuart', 'Broadway') plus surprise guests! Produced by Cedering Fox, Kirsty Peart and John Schwab and directed by Cedering Fox.

Plus Deborah Kay Davies author of 'True Things About Me', Guardian writer Patrick Barkham, and Jay Rayner reading from his work 'My Dining Hell'. Also comeing to Henham Park Estate is The Humble Quest for the Universal Genius, the cult comedy panel show where Mark Allen pits two more comedians battle it out to be crowned Latitude's very own Universal Genius.

Independent graphic novel publisher SelfMadeHero will present 'Hellraisers' the story of four of the greatest boozers of all time: Richard Burton, Richard Harris, Peter O'Toole and Oliver Reed. And in a Latitude exclusive graphic novelist Reinhard Kleist brings 'Johnny Cash: I See a Darkness' the animated 'Soundtrack Edition' of the graphic novel projected complete with music.

Latitude's Theatre Arena hosts David Luff and Network Solutions, in association with OVNV presenting 'The Circle Game' by Elinor Cook.

Whilst in the Cabaret Arena will be Spymonkey deliver 'Love In', direct from its sell-out Brighton run. 'Lady Luck' burlesque scenester Ronnie King will be performing a DJ set for The Razzle's 1961 club night. Also confirmed are comic Diane Spencer, playwright and performer Sue Maclaine, and the North London theatre company Jacksons Lane who present young International company Slingshot Theatre with their masked comedy: 'The Zanniskinheads and the Quest for the Holy Balls'.

Added to the Literary Arena bill are journalist and author Kate Spicer who be providing a Literary Salon session.

The Poetry Arena will host Julian Sands, Wayne Holloway-Smith, Mark Grist, Mab Jones, Harry Baker, Nikky Norton, Rob Auton, and Trio Thaddeus.

Confirmed for the Outdoor Theatre, in a new location in the Faraway Forest for 2011, is company Up In Arms, and premiering at Latitude will be Eyebrow Productions presentation 'Hard Shoulders' - a new play by playwright James Graham.

Latitude's Pandora's Playground will be home to Flabbergast who will present 'The Puppet Poker Pit', The Beaux Belles, and Circus Space who will provide festival goers the opportunity to learn circus skills.

The Night Circus will celebrate the book of the same name witth competitions, circus performers, free books and treats, digital gaming, book readings, vox pops, a midnight tweet-up, help to record a live reading of the book in Latitude's Faraway Forest.

Elsewhere throughout the weekend of Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th July 2011 at Henham Park Estate, Suffolk, festival goers can enjoy The National, Suede, and Paolo Nutini who will headline Latitude. More acts are still to be announced for six stages dedicated to showcasing an eclectic line-up of established bands and budding new acts, with a stage nestled in a clearing in the woods, and another beside a lake.

Weekend tickets are priced at £170 and £5 for children aged 5 - 12 years, day tickets are priced at £70 for adults, and £5 years for children (5-12), and a campervan Pass is priced at £30. Children aged under 5 are eligible for free tickets for Latitude Festival 2011 when accompanied by a ticket holding adult.
