In two weeks' time Wickerman Festival will entertain festival goers in complete silence, by expanding the 'Headphone Disco' concept to create a 'Headphone Arena'.

The arena will offer a full programme of discos, comedy, ceilidh and even a teen orientated Klubland. The The Reverend Obidiah Steppenwolf and How Do I Get Up There? will be delivering x-rated comedy to the over 18's.

DJ's will perform in apparent silence to an audience kitted out with giant wireless headphones. The Headphone Ceilidh band Sshh! (headed up by Trevor Leat, one of the men behind building the Wickerman) will provide a surreal spectacle to onlookers when festival goers join in with the inaudible jigging and reeling.

Festival spokesperson Sid Ambrose said, "The Headphone Arena will be very entertaining for both participants and spectators alike. We have entertainment scheduled for all ages, from teenagers to over 18's in the Headphone Arena to cater to the whole Wickerman audience. We are certain that this will be one of the most talked about new features of the festival."

Other new attractions for the July celebration of family fun include a Ho Down Wendy House featuring Glasgow based band, The Chihuahuas, accompanied by a whole host of friends, Firewalking, the DJ Masterclass run by Danny Rampling, and a military themed Dance Village.

The festival takes place on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th of July 2009 on farmland, near Dundrennan, South West Scotland.

The Human League will headline the Friday night, The Zutons close the Saturday night, and Candi Staton plays the Sunday night. Headlining the Dance Tent will be Hot Chip DJs, with Danny Rampling, Meat Katie, Dylan Rhymes, Lee Coombs, Dopamine, Simon Jackson, Elite Force, G-mac, Believe, Silver Storic, and Kid Blue, Plus The Magic Numbers, Billy Bragg, Idlwild, Dreadzone, Zion Train, Utah Saints, The Dickies, O'Death, Kid British, Pearl and the Puppets, Luva Anna, We Were Promised Jetpacks, UK Subs, Goldblade, Anti Product, No 1 Station, Bombskare, Root System, and Penetration.
