With multiple stages and an eclectic mix of festival favourites, iconic acts, local bands, and headliners with a wide appeal, the 8th Wickerman festival will happen on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th of July 2009.

The Human League will headline the Friday night, The Zutons close the Saturday night, and Candi Staton plays the Sunday night. Headlining the Dance Tent will be Hot Chip DJs, with Danny Rampling, Meat Katie, Dylan Rhymes, Lee Coombs, Dopamine, Simon Jackson, Elite Force, G-mac, Believe, Silver Storic, and Kid Blue.

Plus The Magic Numbers, Billy Bragg, Idlwild, Dreadzone, Zion Train, Utah Saints, The Dickies, O'Death, Kid British, Pearl and the Puppets, Luva Anna, We Were Promised Jetpacks, Bad Manners, UK Subs, Goldblade, Anti Product, No 1 Station, Bombskare, Root System, The Amphetameanies, Berry Tweed and the Chasers,Torrents, More From Jim, The Bum-Clocks, and Penetration. Indie disco fans are catered for with Glasgow based Firewater hosting the Urban Skirmish Stage whilst Manchester club-night Funkademia will be spinning soul, funk and disco during the day at the outdoor Jungle Boogie.

Other attractions planned for this the 8th Wickerman Festival include a comedy tent featuring Phil Kay, a 24 hour Burnsathon, festival golf, mountain biking, and the ceremonial torching of a giant Wickerman.

Sited on 120 acres of isolated farmland, near Dundrennan, South West Scotland, in deepest Galloway, the festival welcomes families, and features two main stages, as well as 'Base Camp' a military themed dance area complete with tanks, acoustic and reggae tents, a campsite, trade stalls, alternative area, bars, and food stalls.

Tartan and Military fashion will prevail at this summer's Wickerman Festival. The unusual dress combination of 'kilts and camouflage' is being encouraged by the festival organisers. Wickerman director Jamie Gilroy explained, "The Tartan Army theme is both a nod to Scotland's year of homecoming and to the festivals new military themed dance village."

Tickets
An adult weekend ticket (age 16+) is priced at £80. This year sees a new 'concession weekend ticket' for those Age 13-15 which is priced at £40 available exclusively online until Wednesday 1st July (after which full adult price will apply). Child weekend tickets are free for those aged 0-12.
Day Tickets
An adult (age 13+) Saturday day ticket is available priced at £53, and child (age 0-12) Saturday tickets are free.

Campervan tickets in general live in area, (no tents), is priced at £25, with a family only area option also available, at the same price.

Everyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult and bring proof of age - anyone without proof of ID will be liable to pay the full adult ticket price at the gate. We also recommend anyone who looks under 21 to bring ID with them. The ages shown on the tickets refer to the age of the child/concession on the day of the festival (not the age at time of purchase).

'Posh' Facilities
The festival also offers a Down and Dirty passes to purchase in advance again this year. These passes allow use of our upgraded 'posh' flushing toilets and hot showers. Priced at £6 for a toilet pass and £6 for a shower pass and both offer unlimited use.

The Wickerman features a children's area, Dumfries Museum's Activity Tent, a drumming workshop, mountain bike skills workshops with the Forestry Commission, Cosmic Circles Fire Dancers, a funfair for kids, chainsaw juggling, outdoor cinema, children's circus and the climax of the weekend's happening is the burning of a 25 foot high wickerman sculpture on Saturday at midnight.
