Wickerman announces acoustic acts

Andi Neate, and Samba Sene & Diwan, will be topping the line-up of acts announced for the Acoustic Village at this summer's Wickerman Festival.

Edinburgh's Andi Neate, and Samba Sene & Diwan who hail from Senegal and Scotland have been announced as the headliners for The Wickerman's Acoustic Village.

Other acts confirmed include indie folk inspired The Loose Kites, the electronically experimental Sweet Billy Pilgrim, and alternative country outfit The MeatMen.

Acoustic Village promoter Nicola Black commented, "Our stages are a calm oasis within the festival. The regulars stay for the weekend whilst many others drop in to re-charge before heading back to sample more full on entertainment."

Glaswegian comedian Phil Kay will perform on the Ingrid Pit Spoken Word stage, which is run by Milton Balgonie who is well known in the performance poetry world. Poetry will be delivered by Ash Dickinson and Fiona Lindsay.

In addition to the official Acoustic Village programme a 24 hour Burns reading or 'Burnsathon' will take place featuring staff and artists from around the site.

The friendly laid-back family orientated festival takes place on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th of July 2009 on farmland, near Dundrennan, South West Scotland.

The Human League will headline the Friday night, The Zutons close the Saturday night, and Candi Staton plays the Sunday night. Plus Billy Bragg, Idlwild, Dreadzone, Zion Train, Utah Saints, The Dickies, O'Death, Kid British, Pearl and the Puppets, Luva Anna, We Were Promised Jetpacks, UK Subs, Goldblade, Anti Product, No 1 Station, Bombskare, Root System, The Amphetameanies, Berry Tweed and the Chasers,Torrents, More From Jim, The Bum-Clocks, and Penetration. An adult weekend ticket (age 16+) is priced at £80. This year sees a new 'concession weekend ticket' for those Age 13-15 which is priced at £40 available exclusively online until Wednesday 1st July (after which full adult price will apply). Child weekend tickets are free for those aged 0-12. An adult (age 13+) Saturday day ticket is available priced at £53, and child (age 0-12) Saturday tickets are free. Campervan tickets iare priced at £25, with a family only area option also available, at the same price.
