Wickerman add Candi Staton, and Utah Saints

Candi Staton, and Utah Saints lead the latest announcements of acts heading for South West Scotland's Wickerman Festival.

American disco diva Candi Staton, best known for 'Young Hearts Run Free' and 'You've Got the Love' will play at the main stage on the Saturday. Also announced for the Wickerman main stage is Leeds based dance act Utah Saints, Californian punks The Dickies, and Manchester's Kid British.

The organiser of the Wickerman's Solus stage has also revealed the line-up of emerging talent for the stage, with Pearl and the Puppets, Luva Anna, and We Were Promised Jetpacks all announced.

Solus stage promoter Chay Woodman said, "Scotland is a widely fertile place for up and coming bands and as such it is important they get showcased at events like the Wickerman."

In addition to the Solus and Main stage the Wickerman boasts a Scooter tent featuring old skool punk and ska, an Acoustic Village, a military themed Dance Village, an outdoor cinema, Reggae Soundsystem and Children's Area.

The friendly laid-back family orientated Wickerman festival takes place on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th of July 2009 on farmland, near Dundrennan, South West Scotland.

The Human League will headline the Friday night, and indie rockers The Zutons close the Saturday night. Plus Billy Bragg, Dreadzone, Zion Train, UK Subs, and Penetration. Expect over 100 acts in total.

Other attractions planned for this the 8th Wickerman Festival include a comedy tent featuring Phil Kay, a 24 hour Burnsathon, festival golf, mountain biking, and the ceremonial torching of a giant Wickerman.

An adult weekend ticket (age 16+) is priced at £80. This year sees a new 'concession weekend ticket' for those Age 13-15 which is priced at £40 available exclusively online until Wednesday 1st July (after which full adult price will apply). Child weekend tickets are free for those aged 0-12. An adult (age 13+) Saturday day ticket is available priced at £53, and child (age 0-12) Saturday tickets are free. Campervan tickets iare priced at £25, with a family only area option also available, at the same price.
