Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival is looking for young bands and solo artists between the ages of 14 and 25, living in the Highland Region who perform their own material, to enter their talent competition.

The winners will be given a slot playing the Seedlings Stage at the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival in August.

The competition will take place over a series heats to be held in venues around the Highlands between March and July 2009. The heat winners will go on through further rounds and the remaining 5 bands or solo artists will play a grand Final to be held in The Ironworks in July.

The competition is now open and bands and solo artists can apply by logging on to www.nessmp3.com/battle4bella/apply.htm and uploading their details. All entrants must be resident within the Highland Region which is defined as Badenoch and Strathspey, Invernessshire, Nairnshire, Morayshire, Ross-shire, Sutherland, Caithness and the Western and Northern Isles.

All entrants must play a 20 minute set. The competition heats will be held in Wick, Elgin, and Invergordon Arts Centre. Semi finals will be held at Mad Hatters (Inverness) with the Grand Final held at The Ironworks in Inverness.

Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival will take place at Belladrum Estate, by Beauly, Inverness-shire on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th August 2009.

Belladrum Tartan Heart has introduced a new 'On-TICKet' scheme which allows buyers to pay a £30 deposit to secure their tickets and then the balance by Friday 1st May 2009.

Early bird prices for weekend tickets are priced at £80 with adult Saturday tickets priced at £50 (plus postage and booking fees) with children 12 and under can attend for free.

There are no acts confirmed yet for 2009. The first acts are likely to be confirmed sometime in the spring.

Belladrum offers plenty of interest aside from the music, including an array of entertainment for children. Attractions include street theatre, cabaret, cinema, dance, alternative therapies, stalls, food and drink.
