tickets for Wickerman 2009 go on sale from Friday

plus VIP offer for first 500 people who purchase a weekend ticket

Tickets for the 8th Wickerman Festival which happens on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th of July 2009 on farmalnd, near Dundrennan, South West Scotland, will go on sale from this Friday (31st October) at 2008 prices.

Festival chair Jamie Gilroy confirmed, "The new weekend ticket price of £80 incorporates booking fees, camping and parking charges effectively making the 09 ticket the same price as 2008."

He also added that there will be a new ticket type available for teens, "A new half price ticket for kids aged 13-15 will help families struggling for cash in the current financial crisis."

Organisers have also announced that for the first 500 people who purchase a weekend ticket they will be given a free VIP upgrade to the festival. Festival Press Officer Caroline McCleary said about the offer, "VIP status is always sought after no matter what type of event" and she was expecting there to be a high demand for Wickerman 2009 VIP wristbands.

Sited on 120 acres of isolated farmland in deepest Galloway, the festival welcomes families, and features two main stages, as well as dance tents, acoustic and reggae tents, a campsite, trade stalls, alternative area, bars, and food stalls.

As well as a music programme of over 100 acts The Wickerman features such things as a children's area, Dumfries Museum's Activity Tent, a drumming workshop, mountain bike skills workshops with the Forestry Commission, Cosmic Circles Fire Dancers, a funfair for kids, chainsaw juggling, outdoor cinema, children's circus and the climax of the weekend's happening is the torching of a 25 foot high wickerman effigy on Saturday at midnight.
