Jefferson Starship's David Freiberg reveals the surprise performance

The RocknRoots festival which takes place over this August Bank Holiday from Saturday 23rd August to Monday 25th August at Much Marcle, near Ross on Wye, Hereford has revealed there will be a surprise in store for their festival goers.

David Freiberg who will be appearing at the festival with Jefferson Starship has revealed that he will also be playing a special performance at the festival with another psychedelic rock, the act he founded Quick Silver Messenger Service.

Quicksilver Messenger Service were an American 'hippie' rock band, formed in 1965 in San Francisco and best known for their cover of Bo Diddley's 'Who Do You Love' they were part of the 'Summer Of Love' movement of artists coming out of the city in the late sixties.

Jefferson Starship, were the Woodstock festival headliners as Jefferson Airplane and their hits include 'Somebody to Love', 'It's No Secret' and 'White Rabbit'.

The bill for RocknRoots includes a host of other famous festival references including the full original line up of Brit folk prog rockers and festival favourites of the early seventies Curved Air, as well as the band that started off the very first Glastonbury festival Stackridge, and festival favourites The Wurzels.

Possibly the biggest highlight has to the appearance of the Blues Brothers' Steve Cropper who'll be bringing hits like 'Green Onions', '(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay', 'Knock on Wood' and 'In the Midnight Hour' to Much Marcle.

Other acts due to appear include Marillion, Cerys Mathews, Walter Trout & The Radicals, Thunderclap Newman, The BossHoss, Wayne Hussey (The Mission), The Animals, Michael Roach & Johnny Mars, Sian Evans (Kosheen), Rachel Unthank & The Winterset, and Ezio. Day tickets are available priced at £36 for an adult, child tickets are £6 (Children 10 - 16 years old.) and kids £2 (Children 5 - 9 years old).
Weekend Tickets are on sale priced at £110 for adults; Child tickets are £15 (Children 10 - 16 years old); Kids £4 (Children 5 - 9 years old).
Weekend Tickets are also available with camping priced at £125 for an adult; Child weekend with camping £30 (Children 10 - 16 years old); Kids weekend with Camping £5 (Children 5 - 9 years old).

Camper Van/Caravan pitches where all occupants must have a weekend ticket with Camping are priced at £20. The campsite opens from 12 noon on the 22 August until 12 noon Tuesday 26 August. Camping is available on the festival site to weekend camping ticket holders only. No cars are allowed on the campsite, but parking is adjacent to the camp site.

The festival will have three music tents, 50+ stalls, craft displays, exotic foods with catering from around the world, juggling schools, and a wine bar. A Kidz Zone with juggling workshops, art classes, five a side soccer games, circus skills and workshop performances.

There is an Acoustic Mag kyam a huge seated marquee with lounge area and bar, Farmer Giles Barn Dance, cinema dome powered by solar, soccer academy, cyber tent, a massive 100ft Real Ale tent with local cider and ales, street performers, Graffitti Tent, Late Night bar, Big Top, hot showers, local Cider Brewery, and village shop and pub.

Plus special on site appearances by The Galactic Legion a sci-fi, fantasy and horror costuming club.
