Bestival, which takes place at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight from Friday 5th to Sunay 7th September, has announced the fancy dress theme for this year.

As one of the most colourful festivals out there, Bestival has a fancy dress theme each year, and this year they're acxlling it "30,000 freaks under the sea". So get out your underwater fancy-dress garb, and come as a mermaid, shark, stingray, or perhaps even a shopping trolley (why do people do that?).

Bestival top-man Rob da Bank said today: "We wracked our collective brains ‘til they turned to custard and eventually came up with '30,000 FREAKS UNDER THE SEA' - essentially another open-ended theme open to abuse and many different angles which we hope you'll follow! This year we'll do a night parade as well as daytime one, so make sure you light up bright - calling all pesky squids, little urchins, deep sea divers and Yellow Submarines!"

Acts for this year's sold-out Bestival include My Bloody Valentine as Friday headliner (an English festival exclusive), Amy Winehouse headlining Saturday, and Underworld headlining Sunday. Also playing are Aphex Twin (English Festival Exclusive), The Breeders, CSS, George Clinton And Funkadelic/Parliament, Gary Numan, The Human League (exclusive two performance concert), Pendulum (live), 808 State (live), Foals, Lee Scratch Perry, Baaba Mal, The Wedding Present, Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip, and many more. For the full details (as available) click here.

As well as the music, Bestival has the world's biggest fancy dress party, the Bollywood cocktail bar, Jestival comedy tent, a farmers market, secret stages, kids area, Morris dancing, magical moments and more, which makes this affair one of the most colourful events on the festival calendar.

Tickets are sold out.
