Calexico have been announced as Sunday headliners for this year's End of the Road Festival which takes place from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th September.

Festival organiser Simon Taffe said of the Tucson, Arizona's band's booking, "Calexico are amazing – the perfect band to watch on the last night of the last festival of the year. I think this might be the best one yet, and we’ve more announcements in the pipeline which will show why."

Calexico join the already confirmed acts with Mercury Rev also to headline a day with support acts over the festival including Two Gallants, Micah P Hinson, Low, Dirty Three, British Sea Power, American Music Club, Billy Childish, Akron/Family, Kimya Dawson, Darren Hayman (Darren and Jack Play Hefner Songs), FM Belfast, Laura Marling, Devon Sproule, Angelo Spencer, Kelley Stoltz, Mountain Goats, Sun Kil Moon/Mark Kozelek, Jeffrey Lewis, Jason Molina (Magnolia Electric Co.), A Hawk And A Hacksaw, Bob Log III, The Wave Pictures, Friska Viljor, and Woodpigeon. For the line-up details as available please click here. With more acts expected to be announced over the coming months.

The End of the Road festival is held at Larmer Tree Gardens,Tollard Royal, Salisbury, Wiltshire and caters for about 5,000 people. There are three music stages, with the Big Top open to 2am. There's also comedy.

Started in 2006, the organisers aim is to "organise an intimate festival with our favourite artists, and to offer the bands an opportunity to play longer sets, compared to most other festivals." As one of the festival organisers is Swedish, there is also a Scandinavian feel to the festival, with a Scandinavian showcase of up and coming Nordic talent.

Tucked away in the garden's glades and pathways, intrepid attendees might also stumble across the mysterious Library in the Woods, a Healing Retreat, surprise art installations, a lovingly curated film stage and several of the surprise impromptu performances that have become the stuff of legend, as bands caught up in a spirit – often described as akin to an early Glastonbury - knock out a song with the aid of a handy woodland piano.

Tickets are on sale, priced at £105 for anyone aged 13 or over, with children under-12 tickets priced at £15. Live-in vehicles cost £30 and Car park £5 (pay on arrival). Click here to buy.

The Larmer Tree Gardens is about 2.5-3 hours drive from London, and falls on the border between North Dorset and Wiltshire, fairly close to Stonehenge. It's a beautiful venue with gorgeous views and with peacocks and huge parrots roaming / flying around freely both inside the gardens and in the field.
