The Big Session Festival which takes place at De Montfort Hall and Gardens, Leicester has announced the addition of The Blockheads to the acts playing over the weekend of Friday 13th to Sunday 15th June.

The Blockheads formed in 1977 to promote, the much loved Ian Dury's (their charismatic lead singer who lost his fight with cancer in 2000) album New Boots and Panties. Chaz Jankel, Norman Watt-Roy, John Turnbull and Mick Gallagher from the original line-up still play in the band, with the addition of new members Gilad Atzmon and Dylan Howe. They are one of this country's national treasures and well worth seeing.

The festival bill already includes Steve Earle, Alison Moorer, Seth Lakeman, Oysterband, Bellowhead, The Handsome Family, Cara Dillon, Devon Sproule, Kila, Lau, The Troubadours, Hey Negrita, and Vincent Vincent & The Villains. More acts will be announced soon.

Full priced tickets are priced as follows: adult £65; children 5-15 yrs £20; camping pass (per tent) £5. Day tickets are also available, priced as follows:
Friday - Full price £25; Children & Young People (5 -15 yrs) £10; People with disabilities (2 for 1) £12.50
Saturday - Full price £35 (due to capacity restrictions there will be only a limited number of Saturday day tickets available - get yours now to avoid disappointment). Children & Young People (5 - 15 yrs) £15; People with disabilities (2 for 1) £17.50

The festival is set in De Montfort Hall and Gardens with live music across three stages: the main auditorium, a marquee stage and informal session. As well as camping, food, real ale and crafts, there will be a designated area for family activities suitable for children of all ages.
