48 up and coming Scottish bands were given the chance to showcase themselves to a panel of industry judges, made up of Tennents partners in the event at DF Concerts, Radio 1, the Sunday Herald, PRS and Fopp, as well as other key industry figures.
Twelve bands won through, and get to appear on the same bill as Snow Patrol and The Killers at T in the Park 2007. The bands are Tokyoblu, Chutes, Cryoverbillionaires, Over the Wall, Down the Tiny Steps, Broken Records, V-2 Schneider, Dance Lazarus Dance, Yashin, The Little Kicks, Theatre Fall, and The Moth and the Mirror.
T in the Park announced earlier this year that for the first time ever, the T in the Park arena will open on Friday evening for campers. It's now confirmed that the T Break Stage will be one of just three stages open on the Friday evening, meaning that a further 4 slots on the T Break Stage will be available to four highly commended bands, with these bands being announced next week.
The T Break Stage is widely regarded as the place to catch the risings stars of tomorrow; the T in the Park careers of bands such as Snow Patrol, The Cinematics and Biffy Clyro began with performances on the T Break stage. And to show their appreciation of the support offered to them by T Break, members of Snow Patrol were seen at two of this years showcase events in King Tuts as they went down to check out the grassroots music scene in Scotland and offered advice to bands performing at the showcases.
.
George Kyle, Head of Sponsorship at Tennents Lager said; "Were delighted that the developments to the T Break stage for 2007 will let us help to showcase even more fresh new Scottish talent at T in the Park. It means that we are able to give even more artists the recognition and support they have earned in a great step forward for the initiative."
Dave McGeachan at DF Concerts added that; "The T Break stage has a well earned reputation as a platform for Scotlands hottest up and coming talent and last year it helped launch the career of Paolo Nutini and The View. The showcases this year were a great success we are really excited about what promises to be a fantastic T Break Stage at T in the Park this year."
With the line-up nearly complete, T in the Park has acts including Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Razorlight, Snow Patrol, Scissor Sisters, Arcade Fire, Bloc Party, Kings of Leon, The Kooks, My Chemical Romance, Kasabian, Queens of the Stone Age, and loads more - for all the acts so far announced click here. Note that the Friday entertainment will only be available to those with weekend with camping tickets.
Tickets are sold out. T in the Park strongly advises fans not to buy tickets from any unofficial sources or website auctions, as not only will they have to pay over the odds but there is a high chance that the ticket will not exist or will be a fake.
