Rolling Stones NOT confirmed for the Isle of Wight Festival

the real story

By Neil Greenway | Published:

There's stories appearing left right and centre, claiming that the Rolling Stones are confirmed as playing the Isle of Wight festival.

It's a great story - but is it true? Nope, not at this time.

The source of these stories - as admitted in some of these wildly inaccurate articles - is this week's edition of industry publication Music Week. What Music Week actually published yesterday was "Music Week understands that the veteran band will be confirmed later this week in the currently-unannounced Sunday night headline slot at the Isle of Wight Festival on June 10".

eFestivals has known for certain for several weeks from our own sources that the Rolling Stones will be playing the Isle of Wight festival - but if we were to say they're confirmed, that would be false.

We understand that there's to be a Rolling Stones press conference on Thursday afternoon, when we believe that their appearance at the Isle of Wight will be confirmed. Until that point, there's no source able to officially confirm their appearance.

The Isle of Wight Festival takes place at Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th June 2007. Tickets are sold out.
