Fairport's Cropredy Convention, which happens adjacent to Cropredy village, five miles north of Banbury, Oxfordshire from Thursday 9th to Saturday 11th August is this year celebrating 'Forty Glorious Years' of the festival.

As part of the 'Forty Glorious Years' theme, there will be a one-off special performance by Fairport Convention's 1969 line-up. Chris While will sing in place of the late Sandy Denny, joining Ashley Hutchings, Dave Mattacks, Simon Nicol, Dave Swarbrick and Richard Thompson to perform the classic Fairport album Liege & Lief in its entirety. This album was recently voted greatest folk album of all time by BBC Radio 2 listeners and last year it was awarded a gold disk.

Headline acts this year include Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra with vocalists Lulu and Ruby Turner, Seth Lakeman, Richard Thompson Band, and Show of Hands. On the Saturday night, Fairport Convention will close the show with their customary marathon set. Other acts include The Strawbs, Viva Santana, Mad Agnes, Bob Fox and Billy Mitchell, Wishbone Ash, Iain Matthews, The Bucket Boys, and Richard Digance, and new and unsigned artists will also feature strongly - for the full details, click here.

Tickets are on sale, with Saturday-only one-day tickets, Fri/Sat two-day tickets and Thurs/Fri/Sat weekend tickets all available. For tickets ordered before 1st June, the prices are: Sat-only £37, Fri-Sat £57, weekend £67, and camping costs £26 per vehicle - click here to buy.
