Who to take to the proms...

for the debut of their new rock opera

By Scott Johnson | Published:

The Who will be debuting their brand new rock-opera mini epic ‘Wire and Glass’ at the BBC’s new Electric Proms Festival.

The festival will take place at the newly refurbished Roundhouse in Camden, London from Wednesday 25th to Sunday 29th of October 2006.

The idea for this new festival is to allow artists to perform something a bit different, whether it be a performance of rare tracks, a unique collaboration or a cross bridging of genres.

Also featuring will be the worldwide premiere of the new album by Damon Albarn’s (Blur, Gorillaz) latest project. The band is called The Good, The Bad, and The Queen and also includes Paul Simonon (The Clash), Tony Allen (Fela Kuti) and Simon Tong (The Verve). They will be performing their debut album in its entirety, from start to finish. The Guillemots, who performed at Monday nights festival launch party, are also confirmed to play.

The festival will also shortly be announcing a film programme, a string of artists who are going to perform 'early years' sets, workshops, intimate performances and a (John) Peel Night. In addition 14 unsigned artists will be playing the fringe events of this year's debut festival.

Tickets to see The Good, The Bad, and The Queen cost £15 and can be bought from here.
