the Big Session comes back bigger

first acts for 2006, and tickets on sale

After 2005's sell-out, Oysterband's the Big Session Festival returns on 16-18 June 2006, again at De Montfort Hall, Leicester.

Over the weekend, acts from the roots and folk music worlds will perform their own full length sets, peaking with the Oysterband's headline appearance on Saturday night.

Artists confirmed so far are: Levellers (Acoustic), June Tabor, Spiers & Boden, Big Session House Band (all Friday); Oysterband Plus James O'Grady, Seth Lakeman, Martin Simpson, T & La Touche, Jackie Leven, Martha Tilston (all Saturday); Oysterband, Chumbawamba Acoustic, Ceilidh Concert (all Sunday). There's further names still to be announced.

2006 brings much more music, an expanded outdoor venue, a larger beer tent with open mic space, more sessions and a bigger market place. As well as artists performing in their own right there will be lunchtime and impromptu sessions, a ceilidh, a children's area and more throughout the weekend.

Tickets are on sale, with a early bird price reduction of £10 for tickets purchased before 31/1/06. Tickets cost £55 for the weekend, £15 for chiuldren aged 12-15, and free for the under-12s. (these are the full prices before the early bird discount). Call 0116 233 3111 to buy.
