A public entertainments licence was granted yesterday for Leeds Festival, which takes place at Bramham Park, near Wetherby over the August Bank Holiday weekend from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th August.

For this, the third year at Bramham Park, councillors considering the application had just one letter objecting to the festival, and West Yorkshire Police had no objections. The licence was granted for 52,500 people, the same number as last year.

Melvin Benn, Mean Fiddler MD, said of the decision, "This is great news. Last year’s festival once again demonstrated that Bramham Park is the perfect venue for the North’s only music festival and we can now look forward to another three days of great music and world famous bands in 2005."

No acts have been confirmed yet - the first announcements are expected in the second half of March.

Expected headliners this year are Foo Fighters, Iron Maiden, and Pixies, with others such as the Killers also expected to appear. For more info on who might appear, see our Leeds rumours.
