Isle of Wight confident of success

By Neil Greenway | Published:

Isle of Wight Festival organisers are confidently looking forward to a well-received, successful comeback of the original 1968 music event, contrary to some recent reports.

The two week long festival starts on 3rd June, and has over 190 events with over 300 hundred performances taking place at various venues around the Isle of Wight. There’s something to suit all musical tastes, including blues, folk, world, jazz and samba music.

Rock Island kicks it all off at Newport on 3rd June. The 25,000 capacity event has headliners The Charlatans, with Robert Plant and Strange Sensation, Ash, Starsailor, Hundred Reasons, The Coral, The Bees, Johnny4 and DNA Doll. Although ticket sales to date have been lower than hoped, of the 6,000 sold so far nearly half have been sold in the last two weeks, and the organisers fully expect sales to keep increasing between now and the event. Tickets have been sold to festival-goers from all over the UK, as well as overseas from places such as Canada.

Tickets for Rock Island are priced at £35.
