West is best. I come in from London, I point my sat nav to the town of Street to go around, then pick up the signs to the festival which lead to West. Works for me anyway.

So every other band or artists that have ever played Glasto have ALL been anti hunting?

You will get in, 100%.
And a donation to one of the charities with some of your refunded money

My tip (although I pack light, essentials only i.e. clothes, booze, tent, sleeping bag)
Go in with your backpack and your tent. A few cans for the queue. No faffing about while the queue shuffles along.
Pitch up your tent, empty your bag and head back to the car.
Fill up your backpack and have a leisurely stroll back in. Easy peasy!

Hello all,
I stumbled across this little bar Sick Sick Sick in the tunnels in shangri la in the wee hours of thursday night/Friday morning, there was a decent electro 3 piece playing who I rather enjoyed, but can't for the life of me remember their name!! All i remember is that it was a three-character abbreviation and one of the characters was a 3... Does anybody know who I'm talking about? Or failing that where I'd be able to see the line up for that bar (I've had a look at the official line up, but it appears that the bar was SO small that it is not listed!)?

Mixed, 1 of my 3 times I've been, the person checking my ticket had a good look at my photo and my face, The third time I was asked to also show a piece of photo ID (had my driving license which obviously matched my address) and the other time i was waved straight through wearing a hat and sunglasses.
so basically its inconsistent, so just make sure you know the risk and don't throw a hissy fit when and if you dont get let in.

Ordered an british army issue waterproof jacket, though obviously i wont be needing it!

What about west camper fields having there own gate this year will this mean is easier to get in and out as it judging by this on the Glastonbury website
"How do our friends gain access to the campervan fields if they travel separately?
If your friends are arriving separately to your campervan or caravan they will not be able to gain vehicular access to the campervan fields (as only one car is permitted on the pitch). They will need to buy a car park ticket to park in the public car parks, or travel by public transport, and make their way to the campervan fields on foot via the pedestrian gates. If they are travelling to the East side they can walk directly from the car park into the campervan area. On the West side they will need to park in the car parks, then enter the site through the pedestrian gates and walk through the site to the West Campervan pedestrian gate."

Ignore all the horror stories, the toilets, especially the banks and banks of portaloos, are kept in very good condition by the onsite staff. Just look for one that theyve just finished cleaning and its a perfectly fine toilet experience!

Seems to work perfectly well, and it maintains the security of the site. If there was a microchip system, thats liable to go down, and the cost of having the equipment for a measly 5 days a year in the first place will add extra £££ to your ticket price.
In other words, look after your ticket and passout when and if you go out.

I've definitley seen official band merch being sold at the side of the other stage. In fact I bought a Bruce Springsteen tshirt from there the other year

They don't ID EVERYONE at every entrance or bar, otherwise we'd be queuing all weekend! As you are a large group, I'd recommend that you split into maybe 4 smaller groups in different lines when you get within sight of the wristband exchange. Avoid drawing attention to yourself by being boisterous and obnoxious, those are the prime targets for random checks in my view.
If you do decide to ask someone else in the queue to bring your booze in for you, reward them handsomely with at least 4 cans, and if they say no the first time, accept that answer and try someone. Maybe befriend them first, have a chat for a while before asking them.

I'm planning to do a bit of all 3 of Stones, Chase and Status and Public Enemy. Then if the rumours are true a bit of Skrillex!
Only really interested in seeing Paint it Black performed live and their recent set lists show that they play it early in the set, happy days!

For the lazy:
Car parks will open at 9pm on the Tuesday night (June 25th) before Glastonbury 2013, allowing Festival-goers to arrive throughout the night, when traffic volumes are low.

I live near Heathrow, and in my old Golf did there and back on just over half a tank, and the car was packed with gear. Drive economically if in doubt, but you will have plenty of fuel remaining when you start your return journey.

I think people are missing the pint of the lock ups... why on earth would you want/need to store your wellies in the lock ups?!
-
Don't forget your noob hat on the way in!
As its your first Glasto, and your experience is with Reading/Leeds, unlike those places. PLEASE remember that there is SO MUCH TO DO after the bands, so make sure you explore that part of the experience too!
-
Hmm theyre probably pretty busy at the moment, you know, setting shit up!!
Whats the question anyway? Someone on here may have the answer!
-
Isnt there the sauna up near Pennards where people just hang out in the nip, even when theyre not in the sauna?
-
7 shifts for me, but they are 12 hours and include night shifts! Although I'm off for 2 weeks from the Friday prior to Glasto until the Friday after it
-
At last, hooray!!!
-
Like you Henrik, I've done many Reading's and Download's. Its almost impossible to convey how much better Glasto is as a whole than those festivals. Even to the extent that even though my favourite kind of music is rock and metal, as a complete experience Glasto shits all over everything!! I think its cos there is so much MORE than just music during the day, unlike Reading and Download that just doesnt really have anything to do after the bands.
Make sure you visit the Greenfields, craft fields during the day, and if you like a party and discovering random shit, make sure you attend shangri la etc in the evenings!

Thanks, that Yiewsley one looks the business.
-
By the way, The nearest big Tesco's closest to Heathrow is the Yiewsley branch, or Hayes Bulls Bridge, both just off the M4
Will we ever truly not want to go to Glastonbury?

Same here, I was always going to have this year off, but a combination of the excellent line up and seeing friends posting statuses about it on FB have made me jealous and now I'm upset i'm not going!! And the initial forecast is looking rainy (i've been 5 times but never had an overly wet festival)
