  1. Don't do what i did last year, i put all my cash in the inside of a loo roll when i was hammered for safe keeps....couldn't bloody find it for 2 days! haha. I've never experienced crime at V (although i'm sure it happens) the padlock does seem like a bad idea. Staffs is right, push it all to the back and keep it messy and not in a bag!

  2. Trick i've got away with the past 2 years is to take boxes of wine....get rid of the box and just keep the bladder. If the weather is crap you can put the foil bladder in a deep jacket pocket, let the guard peep in the pocket and tell him it's a travel blanket (the bottoms of which are foil looking.) Has worked a treat for me, the bladders are hard as nails you could kick them about and they wouldn't leak so you could easily slip them down your pants if you prefer :) Take your travel mug and you've got 2-3 litres of wine on tap for the afternoon, after that you should only need a few expensive pints to top yourself up until you are herded back to the tents where you can drink what you like!

  3. Yes mate, you can come and go from your car as you like. But you're right it can be a bit of a trek sometimes. Having said that last year my mate bought us the early entry tickets so we got there on the Thursday....we ended up 2 rows from the entrance 5 minute walk to the campasite (obv it took about 4 hours to get out of the carpark monday morning lol)

  4. Good hiking boots are fine if you've got some, if you're buying from scratch i'd say get wellies. Spend £15-£20 at a garden centre, some good socks and comfort won't be an issue! (obv this all depends on the forecast but if theres even a small chance of rain dont leave without the wellies and waterproofs)

I don't really have a preference for campsites, just get 1 thats not too far from the arena. Shouldn't make a difference what size your tent is or if you've been to V before or not. The real skill is where to pitch your tent! You need optimum distance from the toilets and from the fire lanes. Too close/far from either and you'll get annoyed.

£200 spending money is about right.

Each to their own but i wouldn't suggest taking fresh food. Take facilities to boil water and you can live off pot noodles, soups, boil in the bag meals stuff like that. I always try and just have the one bought meal during each day, then i just snack/pot noodle for the rest of the day.

What else to take......cheap camera, camping chair (£7 from asda/tesco), stove and kettle, torch.....everything else is just ure camping gear, clothes and alcohol. You really don't need too much stuff!

  5. lol yea thats the only advantage of bad weather, you can smuggle into the arena with a little more ease!

Getting served in the arena is ridiculous Alex, me and my mates always keep a tally of how many times we get asked for ID throughout the day, the person with the most gets the last round in (we're all 24+) so it won't be easy mate. But you should be able to survive with whatever you take to the campsite and if you manage to blag people to go the bar for you.

You'll only need entertainment on the Friday/Thursday nights (if you get the early entry tickets) Saturday and Sunday most people go back to the campsites for parties!
