  1. Theatre and Circus used to be right up there on the list of "great bars" as it used to serve Grimbergen at the same price (I think) as the usual festival piss water. That was great - grab a pint and chill in the astrolabe for a bit.

Cockmills usually a good shout if you like a mix of cask ales.

We just arrived about an hour ago

In East 17, gonna be quite the trek each day, unfortunately having a baby didn't sway the stewards into letting us in quiet camping 🥲

Hopefully the comfort of a campervan outweighs the walk 👀

I can see my trailer tent from there! Just the other side of the caravan in front of you...

  3. You do need to join the others in the queue from the East campervan fields but given that you are in the campervan fields would it not be better to wait till the queues die down? We stayed in the campervan fields for the first time last year and had a nice lie in on the Wednesday before heading into the site proper - had we have seen a queue we would have wandered back to the trailer and cracked a beer... but we just breezed right in.

  4. It's highly unlikely that you will be able to reserve space due to the way the fields are filled up. Unless you arrive together then there will be no way of your other vehicle getting to where you are pitched when they turn up a day later.

Could you take both campers on the Wednesday and they come down by another means (train or something) on the Thursday?

  5. Well that blows the plans out of the water then! Cock!

Getting onsite for me and leaving shouldn't be a problem - Dragging the trailer tent behind the venerable Disco.... What could be a problem though is hitting a queue of caravans on the way in and then not getting to the pitch until dark - by which time we will all be hungry and it might be dark. Good job i've some decent work lights on the truck.

I'm sure it's all for the best though - would be nice if the info came out a bit more publicly though! I only found out in passing as my Brother mentioned it to me. My other half paid for the caravan field ticket and is out for the evening so haven't seen an email.

You can turn right off the A37 onto Pylle lane  to access the East CV fields :)  When you leave at the end of the festival though, you will be made to turn right on the A37 heading south so will have to make your way back the long way round.

    Excellent- Thanks for that!

Long way home sounds not as excellent but needs must!

  7. Outch! Really feel for you and hope that you can sort this out with either your Neighbour or Glasto.

As far as having a go at See Tickets goes though - this isn't their fault. As far as they are concerned - and Royal Mail for that matter - they have delivered the tickets to the address that was requested. So as far as they are concerned, they have fulfilled their responsibility - they have delivered the tickets to the address you entered - even if it was entered wrongly.

Have you tried to speak to the neighbours wife as opposed to him? You may get a better response?

I'm also guessing that you don't have the best of relationships with the neighbours?

Really do hope that this gets a happy ending!

  8. Evening All!

First time using the camper van fields this year and we are in the East fields and will be arriving from the Midlands. The route I'm currently looking at will see us approach the site on the southbound A37. Does anyone know if it's possible to turn right to access the site from the North or will we get sent down to the A303 to turn around and approach from the South?

    Ta!

  9. No.... what you must do is completely ignore all the smaller stages and concentrate on the big acts on the main stages.... I quite like that the smaller areas get somewhat ignored by the majority of people. If too many people start to realise that Glasto is more than just the main stages then I may have ti start finding other areas of the Festival to use as my "go to" areas!

  10. I took my DSLR a few years back and didn't regret it Last year though I didn't take it and wished I had - so this year having treated myself to a better camera I am definitely taking it with me. One advantage though is that we are in the campervan fields so will have the car.

One of the best things I bought for the camera is a decent rucksack for it. I had this for the first time when I took teh DSLR last time and it was perfect.... easy access to camera and comfy to carry - even with all my camping kit (in another bag) for the walk from the car.

    Lowepro Primus AW

The other useful thing I have is a shoulder strap for the camera - much comfier to use for long periods of time and I find it a lot easier to make my way through crowds with it down my side and not in front of me. Having the weight on the shoulder and not the neck is also a bonus!

  11. I was just about to do a search on for a similar thread from last year.... but then realised that you had quite a heavy input to that one last year so probably no point!

I have noticed that since last Glasto there has been an explosion of nice beers available in cans - I still have to do a test to see which ones work well warm.

I know last time to just bought a couple of each canned beer that my decent local beer shop sells and hoped for the best - not sure my bank balance would appreciate me doing that this year as there now seems to be a lot more available!

    lots of choice here....

From last year -  I know that Adnams Ghost Ship is not a bad beverage when slightly warmer than ideal.

  12. I just hope they don't carry on the previous few years annoying habit of having the gold/silver thread in them - it's damned annoying and itchy for the first few days!

  13. Superglue may work if it is just a crack, but not sure how it will react to the heating and cooling effects that the flame has on the lantern "globe". Thinking about it though, most superglue is probably flammable. Epoxy resin may work but then you run the risk that the epoxy may have different expansion properties when heated to the existing lass so may heat/expand or cool/contract in a different manner to the glass which could lead to it shattering with the extra forces when used.

What lantern is it - you may be able to get a replacement globe for it on eBay for not a lot of money.

  14. Having spent a number of summers in my "youth" doing long distance walking I seem to have got the packing lightly thing down to a T. I have a decent backpack that fits me well and can walk with this for days..... I've also managed to work out the ideal amount of clothing for me for a given duration. With Glasto, I already know that I'm probably going to buy at least 1 t-shirt and a hoody while I am there so that is less I need to pack on the way there. I usually pack a couple of pairs of zip off trousers (turn in to shorts) and a couple of pairs of long shorts. Add to this enough socks and underwear for a new set every day (plus a couple of spares). Wear my boots on the walk in and then wear them all week so no need for extra footwear.

I've always left a spare change of clothes and fresh footwear in the car for the journey home or emergencies.

Not that any of this matters this year as we're taking the trailer tent this year so can will have the luxury of returning to the car every night and not having to carry everything in on the first day!

Couple of years back, when St Austell were running the Cornish arms on site they were giving these away whenever you asked for a beer carrier. Damned useful - I think I managed to acquire two or three of them which have then been to every glasto since!
