  1. Surely this isn't that big a deal... I would rather collect my tickets on the day than have them go missing in the post somewhere along the line. I'm pretty sure it's the same system that has been employed in previous years and I think I have had to queue for 3 or 4 minutes in the past... Just relax and look forward to the music :)

  2. Holla!! (Just getting ready for Tinchy Stryder)

Nearly bought tickets for Green Man, but I'll be making my 6th return to SSW instead. Looking forward to it!! (Sorry can't comment too much on the boards - got a new job since last year!

  3. To be honest as long as there are 3 or 4 bands I really like and can sing along to, I don't mind about the rest of the line-up. I'm happy to wander around listening to new stuff and enjoying the atmosphere.

The headliners will never match Elbow, Gomez and Belle and Sebastian in 2006 :P

  4. New album from Babybird imminent. He's the sort that would defo play SSW. Also The Bluetones are touring again this Spring and their last album contained some of the best music of their careeer. Would love to see the Young Knives play again. The Duke Spirit. And I'll add in my previous shouts of Fountains of Wayne and Cake for good measure.

  5. You could pretty much name V's line up now - unimaginative, middle of the road, same old, same old... A press realese only really confirms that you don't want to go anyway.

As for SSW, I like the fact that you never really have any clue who they might get to headline (will it be someone on their way up, or on their way down??) and the real joy for me is seeing the line-up and then getting on Spotify to listen to the people I've never heard of :P

One of my friends suggested going to Secret Garden Party or End of the Road ths year, but to be honest, I just want to go to Summer Sundae!!

  6. What is this craziness I am reading!! Surely, even if Summer Sundae runs at a loss it contributes a massive amount to the city not only in revenue for businesses, but culturally as well. It also raises the profile of the city on a National scale and I for one wish that Nottingham, where I live, could offer something on a par with Summer Sundae (don't get me wrong there's loads of cool stuff going on here, but nothing as good as SS).

Richard H also makes SS what it is and wihtout his input a lot of people would have missed out on a lot of amazing evenings watching a superb range of music.

Local papers really do suck arse.

    :P

  7. For me, the highlights were:

    Musically...

    1. Frank Turner - only recently got into him and he was awesome!

    2. The Lightning Seeds - brilliant sing-a-long set.

    3. Beardyman - Did a great job on the main stage and is truly amazing to watch live.

    4. Kingsize - the most dancing I did all weekend, but so hot in that tent...

    5. Easy Star All-Stars - perfect on a sunny Summer Sundae afternoon

    Other...

    1. As has already been said, the weather

    2. The food is always a delight at SSW. There's not enough days to eat everything!

    3. The cleanliness of the toilets despite there only being about 12 for what must have been a few thousand people.

    4. The atmosphere cannot be beaten. So laid back and friendly.

    5. My friends - there was a good mix of newbies and old hands and it all combined together to make a top weekend.

    Disappointments... few and far between.

    1. Pizza Express instead of wood fired pizzas. I was looking forward to one of those.

    2. Idiots during the Lightning Seeds.

    3. Missing the balcony dive!

    4. It's over too quickly.

    5. It's ages til next year.

  8. Man, they were annoying!! Shouting 'Easy! Easy! Easy!' as well for some reason. They were standing about 5 or 6 feet from me and I even felt the need to shout at them to shut the f%!* up as well, though I not sure how effective it was. They were better once the ring leader got chucked out, but still very irritating. On the plus side, The Lightning Seeds were absolutely brilliant!! They played a great set with some great oldies thrown in. I was really pleased to here All I Want, Sense and Pure. The only song which was missing for me was Perfect which was the song which got me into them in the first place. It didn't detract from a great gig though. I should think Mr Broudie is pretty used to idiots singing Three Lions through his gigs though and I'm sure it isn't half as bad as it used to be!!

  9. So I'm at work counting down the hours until I can get in the car and head down to Leicester. Who else is setting up camp today? What time are you getting there? I can't wait for 5 o'clock to get here. Should be in Leicester by about 6.30... Just in time to get the tent up and then head out to the fringe
