Heading off to a festival and need a tent. Was thinking of a blackout tent.
Seems like a good idea will be able to sleep off the hangover in the morning a lot easier if it's dark.
Anyone had one? What are the pros and cons?

The reality of carrying anything bigger than a 75l unless you are a pretty big bloke is your limiting factor. If you fill say a 75l- you are best advised to wear a daypack on your front to even out the weight.

Just get a drop ship package of drugs from the UN direct into the camp

Sleeping in a car for 1 night is hardly much of a pain.
-
I hate planning anything in advance- so hope I can get a couple of tickets the week before.

Well take a guess that it'll be an equal representation of the population- so you'll get a % of attractive girls.
anyone under 21 looks like they should be in school to me so i'll not be looking!

http://backpackingshop.co.uk/Pioneer-700-Sleeping-Bag.html is proving to be a popular choice this season.

Well I wish I did own the company lol I'd be at every festival this year that way!

It is a genuine product. I've just bought 50 lol
well- it is guaranteed up to 16 stone in weight. Concept is you throw bag out straight away and the box folds up to be flat.
I'm still trying to figure out if it's good or bad- It would mean you have your own personal clean toilet which folds compact.
It is expensive for what it is- but there's nothing similar to it on the market. When it arrives i'm going to test it in the office

I've been pondering this for about an hour- would anyone use it? I'm trying to think of a scenario it would be of any use- would I use it in my tent as a safe/ comfy way to have a #2 then chuck the bag etc.
Anyone used one of theses or seen anyone using one?

I was thinking of going with some sort of scuba gear as a laugh.

Good ideal is to have a waterproof bag for you valuables as well like:

You can get large Backpacks pretty cheap- £50 or less that will last forever. Look for one that has an inbuilt raincover- easy to wipe down if it's muddy.

You could do a music/festival themed 'I have never' that's always popular on forums.

Congratulations- you going to drive to V then?

Think i'll just shave my hair off and baby wipe myself down each day.

Well a beer in Paris anywhere touristy was aprox £5 when I was there before abour 5-6 years ago. So I guess the £ to euro plus inflation and mad french it's now out of control.

Why does it seem to be easy to get full package with coach, but I can't find a ticket without booking a coach. I'd have to commute to get a coach form a big city
Not sure why buying tickets for anything is always made more work than it needs to be- I'd rather not encourage touts- but they actually tend to be the easiest way of doing anything.

If it was organised by Ryanair we could pay £10 to guarantee sun!

Well went to Paris and paid £9 for a pint- Paris has always been expensive but now it's insane.
-
That would be well funny.

You can get anything in the tent range £10 up to £500. It's one of those things that you need to keep in mind that you do get what you pay for. The cheaper it is it's likely to very much be a one use tent and also not going to be very good- you may find you can't get it to stay up very well etc.
For the lazy people (me included) a pop up tent is great £35- £40 normally.

There is also a second advantage to having such an easy to put up and take down tent. If you do want to move it due to unsuitable neighbors etc will be a lot less hassle.
Blackout tent - anyone used one, good idea?
