Anybody know if you can get tickets outside the festival.... I went last year but can't remeber seeing people selling tickets outside.
I have mine....but the gf doesn't and now wants to come!!.
Or if anybody has a combi, and can no longer make it?? have the $$ waiting!!

how come in pinkpop gigs finished so early? looks like only headliners play in the evening
-
Eg, Prodigy and Oasis easly can headline a festival by themselves, but their playing the same day. Same goes for Killers/Coldplay, Kings of Leon, Metallica NIN & Kaiser Chiefs:)

It's expensive but worth it. Not just the music but the other stuff like spoken word and comedy etc. I think there is even a cookery stage and there is a chapel to get married. Best festival i've ever been to and a strong lineup so far. For those of you hoping Fleetwood Mac will headline (like me) well there is some bad news:
Cant post a link but this is from the Phantom 105.2 website (Dublin Indie station)
Organisers of Electric Picnic say some of the rumours in the run up the lineup announcement were absolute rubbish.
The Flaming Lips, Orbital and MGMT are among the acts who'll play this year's festival.
The bill was announced yesterday and also includes Irish acts BellX1, Choice Prize winner Jape and Lisa Hannigan.
There had been rumours that Morrisey would headline, but he doesn't feature.
There are more acts in the pipeline apparently though, with Brian Wilson and Talking Heads still spinning the rumour mill.
Fleetwood Mac were hotly tipped too, however act booker Declan Forde told Phantom News most speculation is nonsense:
".....why do we comment on stuff on blogs? About two thirds of the stuff I read on blogs is not true. Fleetwood Mac have never been playing, neither was Elvis Presley or Bob Marley!"
Ah well

I was at Pinkpop last year and it was the same buzz, before hand we were told zero tolerance. 10 of us went and we all had about 10 grams of weed each (split into separate bags). In the campsite security were up and down and we were smoking away and there was no bother. One day we were going into the festival and they were checking everyones pockets. I had a bag of weed less than 5 grams and i pulled it out and said hey i've got weed (i made a big deal about it because i had other stuff in my pocket i didn't want found - this technique worked a charm actually) and the girl smiled, said that's no problem and didn't even search me then.
We had coke too though and one of the lads got caught out and spent the night in a cell. Here's what happened, we were being fairly loud in the campsite and some of the lads were probably flashing it around a bit and next thing loads of security came. Most of us got everything thrown into our tents which they didn't search (they weren't allowed) but one lad had it in his pocket. He got brought away by police but was let out the next morning and came back to the festival, no charges or anything. While he was getting arrested I was down trying to get him out of it talking to the police and security and all the time i was doing that I was smoking a joint in front of them. I think in my drunken haze i offered the cop a smoke, he declined of course but nothing was said.
So, the point is:
Weed - Pocket checkers on the gates don't mind, campsite security and festival site security don't mind, police don't mind. Smoke it up brother.
Harder drugs, keep it quiet and in your tent.
Truffles, I don't know really but i wouldn't be taking those mad things at a festival anyways.

Duno....if you go to the Rock Werchter website and select 'Merchandising' it has tshirts for every band at the festival including 'Faith No More'....maybe this is a slip?
-
Kanye could play the day that The Killers are headlining, still room for 1 bigish name that day by my guesses.

Bottles of piss for the script is it? Who's with me?

I don't really like the sound of that article. I like to go to a festival in Europe to see the Oxegen type bands and avoid the oxegen type crowd and then go to EP for the whole EP vibe. If they change it it just wont be the same. Maybe this year will be fine but over the next few years the festival could end up being destroyed.

Okay, booked my tickets so fairly happy about that but the trouble is my dopey mate who booked it went ahead and booked campsite C3 for some unknown reason. Is C3 really far away and is it dead? Is it possible to change the ticket to A3 does anyone think? Still though, pretty delighted I have my ticket!

Wow! Royksopp, Flaming Lips, Fleet Foxes all added. Also would be great to see Lily Allen and Kaiser Chiefs.
Just hoping Doves, Arctics, MGMT, Vampire Weekend and Bon Iver get added!

Well alright so. I'm going. See you all there.

Is the nightlife really bad at RW?
-
Anyone know how far away from werchter the other airport in brussels is (chareloi?), just had a gander on ryanair and flights are only £35 return which is pretty amazing, plus i might go glastonbury the week before, so driving might not be the best option lol.
As good as the rw lineup is, it'l be criminal if nin arn't there what with this being their last year of touring, and they're appearing at oxygen the week after. Just really itching for some new names now haha.

Ah yes, I remember now that A3 and C3 are the only available campsites on the web. A3 is fine by me. Does anyone have any idea when this will sell out? Also, If you have a ticket for A3, does that mean you will be able to pitch your tent there even if you arrive late in the evening?
-
apparently all the foreigners (us) are going into a3 this year, i haven't been though so dunno, doubt the crowd will be boring for the prodigy lol.
Also did some googling, apparently it's legal to pocess but illlegal to buy haha.

My friend went to RW either 2008 or 2007 (I think 2007) and he advised me not to go. He went with a lot of people but he said the atmosphere was no good and that in the campsite at night time everybody was always telling them to be quiet. Boring Belgian F***ers was the exact phrase he used. Me and my mates are quite a noisy bunch so if anyone has a comment about this please let me know. I read somewhere else that A3 is a good party campsite so if we got in there that would be fine.
Also, at pinkpop there was a dance tent in 2 of the campsites that kicked off with some decent acts after the main festival ended. It went on right into the early hours. Is there something similar at RW?
Another thing, we all went to pinkpop last year. It was a quality line up and we all had a great time. Part of what was good was that we all had our weed from a coffee shop in Amsterdam and were able to sit on the grass and smoke away in the sunshine. Much better than nearly getting thrown out of oxegen for having half a spliff! I've heard that in Belgium weed is tolerated just like in Holland and it is okay to smoke it at RW but is it pretty easy to pick some up when there? Some of the guys are even considering flying to Holland and getting the train down to Belgium just so they can have something to smoke!
