Especially as there really doesn't seem to be that much difference for all the posturing about how much better the UK did it than the EU my best friend from back home in Ireland (same school year) was just a week behind me in getting her 2nd jab and most of my colleagues in Spain including many much younger than me have all had at least the first jab (when I say much younger one is 20 years younger than me!)
Also most things have been open in Spain since March.. well in my area they have anyway. Could have a beer inside a bar etc

Have Chase and Status done anything to justify headlining OS again? It feels like similar bands that broke through around 2013 like Disclosure and Alunageorge taken steps forward while Chase and Status done the opposite.
Strong set of subs on the pyramid, The XX - NGHFB - Lady Gaga would be a terrific lineup for most festivals. #2yearsin1 - all the rumours flying around and that comment from eavis only sets up for a major disappointment in late march
New album on the way I believe and headlining Lovebox this year. Think one of the Lovebox headliners has headlined the Other Stage for the last few years now and looks like Frank Ocean is ruled out.

All this mention of planes... Isn't the Fleet Air Arm Museum (Europe's largest Naval Aviation Collection) not too far away.
CAG - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Fleet_Air_Arm_groups
Definitely thinking too hard about this haha

Probably just coincidence but one of the Lovebox headliners in the last 2 years has headlined the Other Stage (Rudimental/LCD)... could see Chase & Status doing that this year (if the Green Day rumour is wrong)

Foo Fighters seemed to announce one festival a week before Christmas.
Announced Lollapalooza Berlin this week, so maybe Glasto will be next.

Someone emailed me last night, to say that they knew Robbie Williams was playing.
However, there was something about it which I just didn't believe. Maybe they'll get back to me and say something that makes it more convincing.
So there's your perhaps-made-up rumour.
Just out of interest, how often do people send you rumours like this?

Anything to do the with the fallow year moving?
maybe they really wanted to play next year so offered them Other Stage this year instead.

The card I used to purchase the tickets with has since been cancelled as I lost it...does anyone know if the refund will still go back into the account?
I'm in the same situation. I gave them a call and they said the money should go back into account despite the old card being cancelled.
There is a slight possibility it won't though and they said to give them a call back if it hasn't been refunded after 15 days and they'll sort it.

funnily enough they didn't want to let it be known on here that they knew the band.
Do you still think Pyramid or Other Stage slot?

The Weeknd headlining Benicassim

can't see them getting that high a billing after only subbing Other last time 'round. JP headliner (although candidates for that seem to be growing by the day) or another Other slot i'd assume if they were to play again
Yeah JP headliner is a good shout. Quite fancy Manic Street Preachers to take one of those slots with a new album coming out.

as posted in another thread, i don't see it happening again so soon after last time, but the fact that they're around and not (i don't think?) down as any kind of exclusive could be looked at at positive i guess. would love them to be there to make up for missing them last time which has haunted me since
Yeah I had them 3rd down on the Pyramid beneath Radiohead and Bon Iver on the prediction thread. Definitely think it's a possibility.

More from Fray and some other Manc musicians in this article...

Doesn't mean it should happen again
Fair enough, but it means it's quite possible.

I still can't see Alt-J on the Pyramid next year. They had a big slot last year and it would be a waste if they came back in a similar capacity. I don't think there's much demand for them to come back and play a similar slot. I'm a fan of them, but their slot last year hardly had people jonesing for more.
Perhaps a secret slot on the Other?
Didn't Vampire Weekend play 3rd down on Pyramid twice within 3 years?

Personally, I think it's the live shows that give Courteeners this cult following. I still think their music is better than any of the other indie bands of their time such as Enemy, Rev etc, but I reckon it's their gigs that do it for most people.
Although the now traditional smoke bombs, flares at Courteeners sets may come to an end...

They've not written a good one either, though, like even their very best are bang average throwaway indie tat by normal standards. I actually found Concrete Love enjoyable enough to listen to, I still put on Small Bones from time to time, but vastly overstating their worth with comments like "actually real not generic crap" is part of the reason people have a problem with Fray and their fans. That and the fact that the only reason they have outlasted The Enemy, Reverend And The Makers, The Fratellis and all the rest of them is being from Manchester.. people resent them because where they're from has meant they've survived longer than they ought to have done.
Doesn't matter where they are from. Their music is better than Enemy and Rev and I'm a fan of both of those.

I was always under the impression that The Courteeners were more like the Roses than Oasis.
These sound and look far more like Oasis and they are from Australia.
Big fan of their Cher - Believe cover. Decent album too.

Maybe. I can't say I've followed them that closely. I just remember hearing a lot about them a few years ago, I guess when their debut came out, and thinking they were rubbish. Haven't really heard anything since so I assumed they'd kind of dropped off but maybe they haven't
Until recently I actually underestimated their popularity amongst teenagers. But yeah they're playing Old Trafford Cricket ground in May with a capacity of 50,000.

They haven't got any bigger since then though. So I don't see why they'd be bumped up
I know it's in Manchester but aren't they playing their biggest ever gig next year?

I think you're vastly overestimating their popularity
Really? They played 3rd top on the Other stage in 2015 and 2nd top JP the time before.
If Enter Shikari can headline JP then so can Courteeners - both have a cult following.
-
Just had a look back and seems they've played every year after they've had a new album out, so high possibility again for 2017.
2nd top Other Stage or JP headliners I think.
When will this shit end?

Only have to look at the breakdown of daily cases vaccinated/unvaccinated in Gibraltar (no restrictions apart from masks inside shops, taxis) to see it doesn't stop transmission but it does stop hospitalisations... https://www.facebook.com/gibraltargovernment
