So I’ve been told Jack White is on Williams Green on Thursday by a couple of reliable sources

Also convinced from the EE App ad that Eminem and Aerosmith will be making an appearance from the ‘Lose Yourself’  and ‘Don’t Miss a Thing’ clues.

Is this wishful thinking? or can someone back/ add to this theory

     - saw a couple of comments about a Mr M Mathers booking into Babington House + then there was the Super Bowl with Kendrick?

    - Also read it was Aerosmiths 50th anniversary as a band and they’ve just wished Paul McCartney a Happy Birthday on twitter.

    Ugh. Nope. Nope and nope.

You know, if I were a festival organiser and wanted to keep something secret I’d be putting disinformation out there. I mean, it’s not as if they don’t know about all the social media accounts dedicated to discussing the festival and they dead easy to monitor. And contribute to.

Getting to warm with the guesswork? Throw a red herring out there.

I find it a little cosy that someone specifically creates an artwork to tell us a secret ( that they had to know was a secret) and posts it to their public work account thinking it was going to stay secret. And then removes it a hour after being ‘leaked’.

What do I know? Maybe it seemed like creating the artwork and posting it was a fun thing to do, without any consideration of the consequences. But it’s something I’d do if I wanted to create confusion and mislead.

I would go as far as saying that if it's george ezra it's ruined the weekend for me. Sunday is the weakest I've ever seen and this makes it so much worse

Yes, it's that simple. The supports for the tents are 'air tubes'. You need a pump to blow up the tent to pitch it. No poles needed. They are more expensive and more heavier.

It seems like it’s inventing a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist?

That's the point being made though, that feasibly they could do it. Not necessarily that they will, but it's really not beyond the realms of possibility.

Nobody has at any point said otherwise. All anyone has said is that it seems unlikely because of the tour schedule. Doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Doesn’t mean it’s not possible. Just that in my opinion there would be more obvious options.

They wouldn’t bring their whole stadium tour headline setup though for an hour slot.
Nothing to stop most of the trucks going one way and them bringing a smaller selection of kit this way.

Nope, it is possible, but it would need a lot of sorting out, which is why I (and others) are saying it would be logistically tricky.  Tour managers for stadium shows don't like tricky, they like smooth, easy, simple.

Amyl and the Sniffers are making the exact same journey Green Day will need to make. Why can one do it and not the other?

Because one is significantly larger than the other, one has more restrictive insurance regulations, one doesn't halt a multi million pound show if there's an issue and they don't make it.  Green day can do it, I just don't think they will.

The Green Day "logistics" argument is just going round and round in circles. It doesn't prove, or disprove anything.

Being in Huddersfield the day before, and Dublin the day after is meaningless in figuring out whether it's them playing or not. Far greater distances are travelled by acts on consecutive tour dates, all around the world, every week. It's really not an issue.

    There are two travel routes:

    • Tour bus through the night. It's extremely common for the tour bus to set off immediately after a show, and travel during the night. Every touring act is entirely used to this.
    • Helicopter. As mentioned, it's around an hour.

Almost none, if any, of the equipment will be shared between the main tour and Glastonbury. Everything will be in place waiting for them. They are one of the most successful bands of the past 30 years, it really isn't a problem, any logistics are very easily arranged.

But none of this means that they are playing. All I mean to say is the "logistically impossible" argument is just wrong. And especially since Amyl and the Sniffers, literally on the same tour as them, are playing the same stage, on the same day. There is no logistical challenge here at all.

No-one has said it's logistically impossible, just that it would be hard.

"Far greater distances are travelled by acts on consecutive tour dates, all around the world, every week. It's really not an issue."

Please can you point out a few recent stadium shows going from the UK to Ireland with no days in between? These are the ones I was able to find, but maybe I'm missing a whole bunch who go direct from UK to Ireland without a day inbetween.

RHCP - 2 travel days London -> Ireland

Guns n roses - 2 travel days Ireland -> London

Stereophonics - 3 travel days Ireland -> Cornwall

westlife - 2 travel days Cardiff -> Belfast

A band of this size have more than one set of equipment and it's not them who carries it!

..but the people who carry it are busy setting up a stadium show in Ireland.

I thought a lot of bands their size arrived by helicopter. Not saying it will happen just not impossible

It is technically possible, there are enough hours in the day for it to happen.  They would need two sets of equipment, because one of them will be on a boat.  They'd need to split the touring party up so fall out boy, weezer and their crew go onwards to Ireland and Green Day and their crew get a different bus to Glastonbury, perform, then get on a boat to Ireland the next day.  They'd be risking a multi million pound performance to do a secret set.  If there were problems with the ferries there's no margin for error.  I can't imagine any tour manager in their right mind approving it.

    But it is possible.

Just seen that the drive from Huddersfield to Glastonbury is over 5 hours. Let's say they're off stage by 11 and somehow managed to set off by midnight. They'd have to drive through the night on their tour bus, or set off around 7am the next morning. All of this also rubbishes the rumour of them staying at that hotel near Glastonbury (unless that's the night after the set). Makes it very unlikely unless they have a private jet or are that set on Glastonbury that they are willing to forego a proper night's sleep in between a successive run of tour dates.

Logistically I can't see it making sense, if they were going to do it they'd have built an extra day in to move a stadium show across the water to Ireland.  Technically they could do it, and I'd love it if they did, but practically it sounds like a stretch.

Reddit is just full of middle-wits arguing with half-wits.

There's a bunch of posts that are just 'i've heard a rumor green day are healining????'

Or 'how likely are arctic monkeys' despite the fact they're not even touring.

Wait til you read glasto chat!

p.s - you're not Alex DeLarge off of 2600 are you?!

My performance on Kamikaze Karaoke in 2010 was testament to this. Can't believe I haven't been invited back.

Anyways... I was contacted today by someone saying they have a mate who works at Ticketmaster and they've heard it's Green Day.

Don't see the Ticketmaster connection myself but and still don't think it will be them.

    But...

The thing with that is you don't know if they've heard because they've got insider information, or because they've read the Somerset live article that was ripped off here.  Still, interesting...

Doubt I'll make this but I'll be in a e-festivals tee on the Wednesday as it's tradition (I have a non-forum friend who likes things to be just so..!). I'm getting on site a bit later than I'd like and would like to spend time with my friends - but if you see me around Hitchin Hill (under a big "We're just Innocent Men" flag come say hi!

    Enjoy guys!

I shall also be on Hitchin hill, because as we all know, Hitchin is bitchin. I may drunkenly stagger over at some point.

Sorry, TLDR on the thread - but do we actually know anything yet? Or at least have any confidence in any of the secret sets?

I don't think this is a glasto chat thing. I don't go on there. Awhile ago there was a breakaway group from efests called red triangle or something that setup shop in Pennards.  I'm not party to that though I know people in it..

It is 100% a Glasto chat thing.
