  1. The queue for PGC on Wednesday morning is usually very long and slow. We're in a campervan and watch the progress of it every year. A couple of years ago, it was backed up through about 4 campervan fields to the car parks - I know this as I had to walk back along it to take bacon rolls to friends in the queue.

Ah thank you so I'd need the nameholder in the car with me on the Tuesday to ensure all is good. I think it needs to be as legit as possible with recent events

    Thanks again

Very do-able, providing you have the named ticket holder & CV ticket in the vehicle. We did it last year in East CV, as our friends purchased a CV ticket for us in October, and we didn't get our tickets until the resale. Friend just got into our CV as we approached security.

  3. Maybe it's just wishful thinking ....but why has the Glasto Fest Feed updated their profile picture to look suspiciously like a PF clue? And the exhibition opens at the V&A tomorrow - ideal time for an announcement?

  4. Anker battery packs are great for phones - we leave them on charge during the day, when the solar panel is doing its thing - then use them to charge phones etc. overnight. We stay locally on the Monday night, so only have a full tank and carriers for the last 5 miles. Also, the water points get very muddy and tap connections are sometimes awkward - we've got quite a clever DIY hose type thing that fits most taps, and reduces splashing. Needless to say, quietest time at the taps is when the festival is in full swing/ late at night. Get geared up with BBQ/fire pit, lanterns, candles, solar fairy lights ....some of the best times can be had over impromptu late night gatherings round the fire with your neighbours / new friends! East CV is great!!

I'd really like Future Islands to be on the line up poster, but I know its slim, playing a festival  germany (?) the same weekend, but no actual date announced and they are in Nottingham just before the festival

Exlusive for Green Man, but just praying that really means a headline exclusive even though it says UK festival exclusive (a farity can dream)

New album out - playing UK just before the festival - the stars are aligning ;-)

I so hope you are right! Future Islands would be my favourite.

  6. I recall hearing that people were paying up to £400 for a touted CV ticket, before the system changed.

Also, security checks appear to be random. They were easy when it was just volunteer stewards checking, however now they have professional security on hand, and it's got tougher (when the weather is OK!). A couple of years ago, the security guy looked in our oven, toiletry cupboards and wardrobes! But he didn't seem to realise there are storage areas under the floor .......

It was Rick Wright's dying wish that we all wear a raspberry beret to the festival.

It would be nice to be able to identify other Prince fans and meet fellow minded people :)

I'll be wearing my raspberry beret!

  8. Thanks for replying Adele.

Put it like this - our 20-something youngsters go to Glastonbury, and we party with them (sometimes!). We enjoy all sorts of stuff at Glasto, favourite main venues being Pyramid, West Holts, Avalon & Acoustic, as well as theatre & Circus rather than the naughty corner, dance, DJ or D&B venues.

From your footer, I suspect SGP might appeal to us rather than Boomtown or Leeds??

  9. So we sadly failed to get tickets this morning. This time last year we were in the same boat - and decided to book Sziget 2015 in case we didn't get tickets in the resale (we did, luckily).

We drove our motorhome all the way to Budapest and Sziget was amazing - I would thoroughly recommend it. This year we're considering where else to try. Early contenders are Kendal Calling and Latitude. However any views would be gratefully received to help us make up our minds.

    Thanks

  10. But doesn't this mean that there is no chance for anyone in the resale to get a campervan ticket.

Last year I got a friend to get me a campervan ticket when they paid for their tickets, and then (thankfully) got some tickets in the resale.

Or can I buy a campervan ticket on my registration number even if I'm not successful on the 4th?  It would be riskier because I couldn't then sell it on if unsuccessful in the resale too.

We did exactly the same, when we failed to get tickets last October. Like you, we were lucky in the Resale - and already had a campervan ticket, thanks to friends. This year, we think that if we fail on the 4th, we'll ask friends (who we can travel with) to get us a ticket. If we fail in the resale, then we'll just have to stand the admin fee to return the campervan ticket - which I guess will work in the same way as normal ticket returns.

By the same token, it therefore seems likely that there will be some mechanism to buy returned campervan tickets. Hope we don't have to test the system though! Good Luck everyone.

  11. Our first time at Sziget - bought the tickets when we failed to get Glastonbury tickets last October (succeeded in the April resale, though).Wow - what an experience - we loved it!

We decided to do the trip in our motorhome and made it a month long road-trip, covering 2750 miles and going through 8 countries.

The caravan camping was excellent, very international and extremely friendly. The showers were great - plenty of hot water that never ran out, and adequate capacity if you planned your visit. Flushing proper loos with loo paper were also excellent. We even had an electric hook-up. The facilities were better than several campsites we used in other parts of Europe.

I echo all the other positives that have been posted before, but also got the cough! It really was very dusty towards the end, and that must have been the problem.

The ability to come & go from the site was ideal, and the huge Auchan nearby was great - apart from the booze/liquid restrictions on entering the site. We were intrigued by the displays of alcohol in the aisles at Auchan - how did they think anyone was going to get it into the festival??

    Happy memories.

  12. Have a safe trip, bank holiday in Dublin, working till Friday and flying on Saturday night, looking forward!

I'm a bit nervous, I've never been on a festival for a week, so I think I probably ended up bringing too much stuff and forgetting the weird essentials, I've seen some lists in the forum that have been very helpful, also the weather shows it might rain during the week, so I don't know if I should bring the wellies.

This is a link with photos of the building process at Sziget, http://www.katechka.com/building-sziget-festival-7-days-to-go/

We're in Vienna now - a stone's throw from Budapest.it's absolutely baking - 35 degrees plus. So I really don't think you'll need wellies. If it rains, I think we'll be glad of the respite ☀ ☀ ☀

  13. We're well on our way - driving to Budapest in our motorhome. Currently in Nuremberg, and it's really hot (32 degrees plus) but OK as I guess the humidity is lower than we're used to. Back on the road towards Vienna tomorrow. This is the way to do it - the lovely weather and beautiful places we're stopping up are really getting us excited!

Safe journey everyone - see you on an island (rather than the east campervan fields at Glasto!).
