  1. I thought it was great for a festival. Right place, right time, right amount of beer! You're not going to get the best of anyone at a festival.

Anyway, finally got around to buying Lazarreto yesterday. Now come on Jack, we know you're a genius and like to do things different blah blah but for fucks sake I just want to put the needle on the record and play it. Took me ages to figure it out and only because i recalled hearing about it on the radio.

  2. Long story short, I went down Wednesday with my mate who helped me erect the awning on the van, Thursday we went down and erected his and his mates tents by gate A. My wife was arriving on Thursday by train, daughter (14) on Friday by train. She arrived just the storm was at it's worst and had decided to travel to and onto the site in her school uniform - I have no idea why. So me and the wife took some spare clothes for her, met her at gate A and took her to my mates tent to get changed. Rather than carry the uniform around with us we bagged it and left it in my mates tent. Forgot to mention this to my mate.

Next morning, text exchanges to meet up. My mate sends me one '.....should be easy to find me as I'm dressed in a ....... girls school uniform'

  3. nah, it really doesn't.

It's a good album if you can disassociate your listening of it from Dexy's of old, but it doesn't reach anywhere close to Soul Rebels.

Yeah okay a bit of an overstatement. It is good though.

  4. You're right, he's entitled to do whatever he likes when performing live but he's obviously not intelligent enough to either turn down the headline slot or adjust his set to the crowd he's performing to. If he wants to be a tortured artist and mock everyone who likes his old stuff then he should have done what Julian Cope did and play a slot at an earlier time on a different stage. If you're headlining a stage on a Saturday night at a festival as big as Glastonbury then you need to be playing crowd pleasers, not trying to sell new shit that no one is interested in.

To be honest i don't blame Kevin, he shot himself in the foot and he's the one that suffers but whoever booked Dexys in that slot really should find another role at the festival, maybe working in the car park or bars would be more suitable because they obviously don't understand how to program a line up.

The album is a couple of years old now isn't it? So any fan of the band will be well familiar with the tunes. Stands up there with the best stuff they did previously, and as a artist producing new stuff Kevin stated that he didn't see the point in these bands who just come back and do a karaoke version of their previous selves.

I've seen this show 4 times now and he does a mixture of the old hits. The first time at Shepherds Bush he didn't do Geno because he said it didn't feel right.

The real question was how did the new lead lady do?

I did wonder how it would come over at a festival, and it was great.

Anyone who goes to Glasto to see old 80's bands doing 'karaoke' might want to try Rewind or something like that where you don't require any thought or imagination.

  5. Sat down next to Carl Barat in the Park watching Ed Harcourt (his brother in law apparently) Didn't speak to him as he was obviously enjoying himself. One of the great things isn't it that famous people can walk around relatively unhassled.

Stood next to one of the blokes from Hurts at the bar.

  6. Sorry for not posting this earlier as it's now too late for anyone tonight, but for tomorrow.

The toilets. Blokes, do not queue for the cubicles, there is a large urinal area behind the main toilet block. Isn't properly signposted. Ridiculous.

The pit. Me and my mate walked in just as the roses were starting, no wristband on. Even left to go to the toilet and came back in. Right at the front. It was rammed in there, my old legs are creaking today and I could hardly walk afterwards.

Getting back to Manchester. On the tram, don't go to Bowker Vale, walk to Prestwich which is north of Heaton park. This way there shouldn't be anyone already on. We got the first tram that came when we were waiting. Absolutely rammed though, to dangerous levels in my opinion.

Getting to Heaton Park. On the Tram, go to Piccadilly and get on there, no one was getting on at Victoria or Shudehill or Market St.

Booze - got a whole bottle of rum in a capri sun pack. Checks were poor.

Personally, had a great day out, The Wailers were great, Primal Scream did a good set, The Roses? Seriously I would only give 5 or 6 out of 10, but It was what I expected it to be. Although I do loads of festivals I don't do big outdoor gigs like this and for me the band lose quite a lot in a setting like that. I'll see them in two weeks at Benicassim, I'll report back if my opinion changes.

One other thing, pleasantly surprised at the demographic. I was expecting to be surrounded by old balding blokes (me) but there was a really good mix.

    Enjoy it.

  7. So following on from my post below selling a youth ticket, I spoke with EoTR ticket office and they have told me that the youth ticket can be upgraded to an adult ticket so therefore I now have either a youth or an adult ticket for sale (not one of each you understand?)

I am based in Reading, work in Hemel so can meet in either of those or somewhere in between, or as previously stated would use paypal or would go through the ticket trust website to ensure safety.

    Ta.

  8. Me and Mrs FCUM spent the second part of our honeymoon there in 2005. Ten days in Thailand and then straight down to the farm. Was great. Arranged our wedding specifically so that we could do so.

Some people get it, some don't. It's the Sun FFS!

  9. Joss Stone a couple of years ago in the Leftfield. Just walking past, decides to have alook who's on. She was amazing. Now if you'd have said to me prior to that lets go and watch Joss Stone.....

Peej in 95 in that pink catsuit. Never got it before, loved everything she's done ever since.
