For Reading, Weekend wristbands were Green with Red writing on them.
Over 18 wristbands were pink with purple/green writing on them
Crew wristbands were white with red writing.
-
CAT's were helpful and all rather fit aswell

Cheers for responses - as far as I learnt, there are a couple of differnt firms that provide the security for the campsites. The ones i spent most time with were really nice guys - harsh in some cases, but fair in all cases. I guess they need to set examples of people who are dicking around, to send out the message that they do mean business. But it is only for the honest festival goer's safety & well-being, and in the incidents that i witnessed and overheard, i can only say that they couldn't have been dealt with in a better way.
And i'm glad to hear the CATS getting praise, cheers guys

Little Comets on FR, Best Coast on NME!

Evening all!
Having just returned from my last shift as a CAT at Reading, I just wanted to ask what you guys though of the CATS/security teams in general?
Being on the inside, chatting to security and listening to the radios, you really get an idea of the immense scale of the operation in progress to keep yall safe, and particularly the amount of crap that the security take on a minute by minute basis.
But yeah, just want your thoughts and experiences in general - Oh, and I was working in yellow camp on Friday night shift, Saturday afternoon/evening and Monday.
Cool

It looks like the organisers are preparing for the worst - there is tonnes of bark on all of the entrances into the campsite. There were also sewage trucks draining the fields earlier. I suggest you wear your wellies if you're heading down tomorrow, it's already pretty muddy.
-
I'm still wearing my 07 band cos I'm a mucky bastard like that! If you think wearing last years band will get you something free I'm pretty sure it won't
-
Hhmm OK, well I don't think I'll have access to this area - it's campsite volunteering with Hotbox. We're the CATs.
But I do know we get a crew wristband, and I have read/heard that we can use a different entrance to the arena. I don't think minibuses will be for us though!
-
I have to hold my hand up here - I don't enter via the normal entry point so Security are not checking what I am carrying but I cant imagine that the only seats are being used by Crew.
-
Just received my volunteer pack via Hotboxevents, and we've been told to promote the following schemes:
"Reusable beer cups – festival goers pay a £0.10 deposit for a cup and
carrier. These can be returned and deposit reclaimed at the refund points.
The same applies for the ‘One Water’ water bottles.
Festival goers cans count – if they bring back a bagful of cans to the
Recycle Exchanges in the campsites, we’ll give them a free can of beer!
We’ll even give them the bag to collect the cans in. The bags will be handed
out at the wristband exchanges, by the Green Messengers in the campsites,
from the campsite offices and Recycle Exchanges."
So, yeah cups are a go! And so is the 'bin-bag-of-cans-for-a-can' scheme!

i initially thought that you were referring to the rowntrees randoms that they handed out by the bucketload the other year!
thus, i will answer my preferred question.
yes, they are awesome.
edit: oh - just noticed mrtourette was on the same wavelength as myself! man i want some randoms...

awesome, cheers guys!
haha yeah, my first 2 shift preferences clash with mcr.
although we have an option to do night shifts only, and technically not miss any bands! but this looks brutal and unrealistic!
-
Hey guys, just a quick question - roughly when would Muse finish on Sunday provided they have the extended set?
I am choosing my shift pattern for volunteering, and want to make sure that Muse will have finished by 1am!!
Cheers in advance!
Oh also, shifts start at 2pm Wednesday - implying that, like previous years, early entries can get in the camps around this time too
-
quite surprised nobody has mentioned nirvana yet! (albeit in their unrealistic fest)
-

That sounds like a good idea, anything that can get me something hot to eat sounds good, how long due the blocks remain lit for amazon comments seems to indicate 5 minutes or so?

Poster is up on official site too.
Still can't say i'm too happy with The Midnight Beast headlining... Was hoping that a credible band were announced above them - surely they're more of an alternative act?! :/ o well! Rest of FR stage looks mint though!!
-

good luck!
