  2. senser_logo_zpsc5dda012.jpg

I am proud to say that Senser are now booked for Alchemy 2014!!

Senser are back with their 5th album – ‘To The Capsules’ incorporating their unique fusion of rock, metal, hiphop and alternative electronica, staying true to the sound they have been producing since 1989.

Senser became known for their political lyrics and a huge live sound which has gained them headline slots at major UK and European festivals. Senser achieved worldwide success with debut album ‘Stacked Up’ in 1995, which peaked at number 4 in the UK album charts. They subsequently split up having toured half the planet.

After a long hiatus, in 2009 Senser wrote and recorded their fourth studio album ‘How To Do Battle’ working with producers Neil McLellan (The Prodigy), Jason Wilcox (You Me At Six, Reuben, Fightstar) and New York hip hop producer Scott Harding (Wu Tang Clan, New Kingdom). The album achieved major success with the rock press such as Kerrang! and Metal Hammer Magazine and put the band back on the festival and touring circuit. All three singles from the album; ‘Resistance Now’, ‘End Of The World Show’ and ’2 3 Clear’ aired on Radio 1’s Rock Show, an Xfm live session and the video’s on Scuzz TV.

Planet Mosh summed it up perfectly: “With Senser back from the 90′s, I was worried that they might have brought the 90′s sound with them, they didn’t. The delivery was superbly tight and the room erupted into a mosh pit. This wasn’t 90′s, this was Senser showing other bands how the transition over decades can be done perfectly. Fully retaining their powerful roots yet managing to make every track sound fresh and new. Quite an achievement.”

2011 saw the band release the ‘Biting Rhymes’ EP – a collection of classic hip hop covers recorded in true Senser style. This release saw the band complete a successful and highly praised UK tour scoring rave reviews from world press. Senser were also joined by dynamic guest vocalist Imma, adding her own superb twist on Kerstin’s euphoric sound.

2014 will see the band touring with their new album at venues and festivals in the UK, Europe and beyond - now including Alchemy!!!!

  3. Headmix Collective

Head Mix Collective were originally formed by ex-members of Tofu Love Frogs, Doo The Moog and The Cheap Suit Oroonies. All these bands were synonymous with festivals and having a good time. This makes HMC possibly the world's first festi-diddldum supergroup. And with this recent history in mind, when they formed they had a lot to live up to and, boy, do they do that!

Head Mix Collective really are a band and one to see live. Seen live, they really are awesome: perfect for the green fields of Alchemy.

They are festi-skank complete with melodica, tin-whistle, didge and accordion. Their music will have you dancing to deep dub style bass and melodica lines one minute, then jigging up and down to penny whistles and Irish fiddle the next; but always with that groove-conscious rhythm-driven thing backing it up.

  4. More bands! (more to follow)First lot of Early Birds sold out - New Batch released - Limited numbers!!!!Get those art application in!More bands! Spanner - you asked for 'em - we gottem! Spanner has been mixing politics and pleasure since around 2000, and we aim to still be at it when it’s time for dancing on the ruins of the empire. We’re taking bookings for the after party now! Our sound is a small contribution to the soundtrack to revolution and we hope to inspire both much dancing and more direct action. We play militant, ska’d up punk that’s not just for entertaining “alternative” consumers or being part of the illusion of rebellion. Punk for us has to be more than noise and more than a hairdo. We want punk and punks to be part of a community in opposition and resistance to this murderous system which leaves everything it touches damaged or dead. We know that with our creativity and determination we can make a new world, and punk is about doing it now! We’d also very much like our music to strike fear into the hearts of capitalists, cops, bosses and politicians everywhere… if only they could hear the words!

We love meeting DIY bands, gig collectives, subverters, squatters, rebels, resisters, renegades, revolutionaries and fellow trouble makers from all over. It reminds us that we are everywhere!!! We are always looking for gigs and festivals to play, so get in touch if you think you could do with a Spanner in the mix.

New York Brass Band New Orleans inspired music from the mean streets of York, North Yorkshire, UK.

“A must-see, stomping genre-splicing brass outfit” The Guardian

The Soul Circle Gang The Soul Circle Gang, a fresh and innovative Leeds based band, brings together eight experienced musicians who weave elements of funk, soul, reggae, world and jazz into unique new sounds. Led by Lara Rose (who has previously sung with The James Taylor Quartet, The New Mastersounds, The Haggis Horns and Corinne Bailey Rae) The Gang are in their element live, delivering sparkling performances featuring energetic grooves, dexterous improvisation, soaring vocals and sweet harmonies. (Imagine Parliament fronted by Chaka Khan.) The 'Live In Session' EP, released in 2012, gives a taste of their dynamic live sound. China Shop Bull China Shop Bull play an extremely heady cocktail of ska, rave and drum and bass. The 6-piece have been on the festival, punk and party scene since 2006, releasing one album ‘Rave To The Grave’ and a new 12" vinyl on Tantrum Records. They've toured the UK and Europe extensively and have performed alongside acts as diverse as Dreadzone, The Dub Pistols, Sonic Boom Six, The Skints, Pama International, Random Hand, Goldie Lookin Chain, Sicknote, Voodoo Glowskulls and Subsource.Building a fast growing following with their infectious sound and lively shows, China Shop Bull have previously been invited to festivals such as Rebellion, Boomtown, Solfest, Beats Not Bombs, Alchemy, Brisfest and Kendal Calling to name but a few. Early Birds After the success of last year’s Alchemy we fully expect to sell out early this year (and live in tickets will go pretty quickly!) We've sold out of the £60 early birds but there are a limited number of £70 available on the website along with family tickets (2 adults and 3 under 16s) at £185. We expect these to go quickly so gett'em soon! Art Grants We're opening up the options for arts grants earlier this year to give people more time to be creative. We've had some great installations over the last couple of years and want to keep it going. Up to £300 for art that fits with the ethos of the Festival - low carbon, re-cycled wherever possible, tactile or involving people installations will always get preferential treatment.

  6. Hi Everyone

    Hope all is well!

Just a quick note to sat that Alchemy is likely to sell out in advance this year - tickets have been going much faster than last year and we werent that far off last year.

Please get your tickets asap - you have been warned! :)

  7. I went last year but wasn’t very happy with a few things which I really hope are sorted this time round.

The toilets were really poor, organisation was a tad shoddy and not a great deal of children’s activities going on either.

The line-up is a little too dancy and no stand out “big” names this year yet? Will any more names be released or is that it??? More real ale too please!

I think that Off the Tracks charge the same and have a much better line up, children’s area, facilities, great bar and a proper stage.

I liked the vibe and want to go back just for the vibe but hoping the festival improves to justify the ticket price.

People say its cheap but there are other festys that seem to provide a lot more for the price.

    M
