  1. Matt Dr Who Smith at Pretenders. He seemed ok but some of his friends were much the worse for wear. Scanned faces but didn’t ID them.

Jamali Maddix in West Holts for Joey Badass.

Nina Conti between Woodsies and Other after Hot Chip. We were buying drinks and donuts and when stallholder shouted out ‘donuts’ she thought they were hers.

  2. 1 Elton - perfect end to the weekend

2 Max Richter - not cried since Blur 2009 so bookies were giving long odds on Midday Saturday

3 Generation Sex - best mess around with mates of the weekend

Lana might have made the list if she had finished her set. Young Fathers, Sparks, Loyle Carner, Hot Chip all quality.

Only act I saw I really didn’t like was Joey Badass although he told the crowd they had witnessed an all time classic Glastonbury set.

  3. For late night drinking and singalong, Taphouse between Leftfield and West Holts plays pop and indie and has a great atmosphere. Blur, Arctics, Franz, Fratellis, Nirvana etc plus Angels, Come On Eileen. Found it in 2019 and default post headliner spot now.

My irritation was e-bikes, only saw three but two forced me to take evasive action and the third went through Avalon tent whilst waiting for Lottery Winners. How long till we see e-scooters.

The programmes were free on the gate as well.

Think we were spun a line then. As we came through were told we had to get them (and mini guides) from an Info Point.

  5. £4 for the bag was ok and the lanyard/mini-guide was still free but..........£28 for the programme????

We spoke to someone at an Info Point on Wednesday who said they had sold one all day and there were 30,000 to get rid of!

By the end of the festival did see a few people with them so assume they had reduced the price (or giving them away)?

Feels like a head will roll somewhere in the Glasto office......

  6. The issue is that a steward is a volunteer and probably has no power other than to ask someone to stop.

If Security decided to get out of their land rovers, they presumably could grab a few offenders and deposit them the other side of the fence with their pants round their ankles.

  7. Agree that blokes should not use long-drops when a urinal nearby.

Can't understand the mentality of dropping cans/cups in urinals.

Urinals behind Stonebridge and at Crow's Nest were leaking.

Still people pissing against fences etc, they said it was an eviction offence this year, wonder if anyone was.

Had the grim sight of a girl at The Park for Warpaint pulling down her shorts and peeing in the field (in the middle of the crowd). The sad follow up was that she then sat in what she had done to pull her shorts back up. Cue her walking off with damp shorts with all those behind in open-mouthed horror. She was about 20, on her own but did not look out of it.

  8. Did I do something wrong? Got to the Wednesday/Thursday page and then to the holding page. The counter was not counting down from 20 seconds. Kept hitting refresh anyway. Then noticed that it said something about processing as many deposits as it could.

    Started again, exactly the same.

On the whole the crowd was great.  Everyone seemed in good spirits despite the trying conditions, we chatted to loads of really nice people, especially at the smaller stages and market areas.  I saw less canisters and a lot less peeing in the hedges this year too.  However I found the pushing and shoving at the Pyramid really really bad this year.  Big strings of drunk fucking glitter covered obnoxious girls holding hands and barging through regardless of anyone else.  It doesn't take much to say excuse me :growl:

And a special mention to the complete knob who ploughed through the non existent gap between me and the lovely older guy stood next to me for ELO.  Not only did he cover his leg with mud he gashed it and drew blood with his boot.  Didn't even stop or say anything.

Only NOS overload I saw was up at the Park by the Glastonbury sign Thursday night. Everywhere you looked there were canisters, even one guy going round dealing/filling them openly. Only saw two security guards who couldn't have cared less.

Only saw one person not using the toilet, a guy in that space between West Holts and Avalon (just beyond Goan Curries) on Wednesday night. Just laughed when we told him he was killing the festival. Ironically I think that space is crying out for a set of toilets as it is large and underused.

  10. Agreed, much mellower vibe this year. Maybe because people knew getting hammered away from their tents would seriously hinder their ability to get back, they reined it in a bit.

Also thought there were less just left school, let's go wild groups.

  11. In no particular order

New Order (was worried having seem them live (not Glasto) in 86 and 07 and not enjoyed either much but they were immense)

John Grant (his voice going made it all the more memorable)

She Drew The Gun (entranced by them)

Cyndi Lauper (Christ she has got a set of lungs on her)

Aidan Knight (walked into William's Green as he arrived on stage, we were the 8th and 9th people there, it grew to about 30 but felt so sad for him, his parting words were to wish us all a nice life if our paths never crossed again.....)

Honourable mentions for James, Lumineers, ZZ Top, Feeling, Squeeze, Will Young, Caravan Palace, Saint Etienne and a clearly very merry Guy Garvey.

  12. Though there were several overheard conversations about Radiohead and Stone Roses secret sets my favourite was a very posh, very agitated girl saying to her male companion.

"Stone Roses are doing one set but I haven't a fucking clue where".

The written word just can't convey the emphasis on her use of "fucking".

The other one to make smile was two youngish girls talking about those "Zed Zed blokes on the big Pyramid thing".

  13. Can't see that anyone has started this thread....my eighth Glastonbury and this is first time I have actually made what I consider decent spots

    1. Noel Gallagher walking purposefully though West Holts during Underworld, virtually dragging his female companion (daughter?) behind him.

    2. Halfway through Guy Garvey, realising Dermot O'Leary was stood next to us.

Also saw Michael Eavis driving his land rover but that doesn't really count at Glasto!

And people stopping for a chat on the metal walkways. Argh!!!

Oh God yes, incredible selfishness. Having said that I thought most people were good in the conditions, it's worse in the sun when you get large groups moving at pace with a get out of my way attitude.

  15. Much as I like the idea of having half Wednesday and half Thursday tickets it won't work. If big groups of Thursday people turn up on Wednesday are they seriously going to turn them away at the gate? We were at Worthy View where the entrance is supposed to be exclusive for WV campers but people were turning up with just general admission tickets and being allowed through.

From a personal point of view, this was the first year where I was happy to leave (after Sunday headliner), normally I have to be dragged out of the site. Purely down to the mud and the aches in my feet (first year in the eight I have been to I have worn Wellies for the entire festival). Still plan on going to my ninth!

  16. Not had mine yet and whereas last week there was a message to the effect "tickets are not yet in stock" now there is no message at all. Usual See shambles. Probably think they have until Sunday 26th to deliver them.

How did you manage to speak to a human at See, all the options on 0115 912 9105 just told me to check the website.

  17. In no real order

FFS - scandalously small crowd but they rocked it. Seeing Ron Mael do his solo dance was a moment I won't forget in a long time.

Mark Ronson - went with low expectations but he nailed it. Mesmerised by the twin trick cyclists with Kyle Falconer. Boy George's Do You Really Want To Hurt Me was a Glasto moment as was the superstar laden Uptown Funk.

Death Cab For Cutie - somehow this band have passed me by till now but was a perfect lying in the late evening sun moment.

Future Islands - love the album and this was a perfect time and location to hear it.

Frank Turner (Other) - discovered him at Leftfield in 2010. Love the way people who have never seen him before watch him and go "this is really good".

So many others nearly made the list but didn't see a bad act until.......after FFS went to see Grandmaster Flash. Huge crowd, playing some big tunes then....the computer goes. Gets going then five minutes later computer goes again. He keeps saying "stay with me" but the moment had gone. Thought the guy worked with two decks not a memory stick. Sad.....
