  1. Does anyone know when the stewarding rotas are going to be sent out? Seeing the times announced has got me very excited for the festival, but also made me wonder what i'll be missing whilst working. So does anyone who's done it before remember what sort of time we get told what the rota is? It'd be nice to know!

  2. if they were 10-15 minutes behind schedule, why on earth did they take up another 10-15 minutes with what amounts to an extremely average guitar solo... that makes them up to 30 minutes behind before they've started?

  3. I'm a bit annoyed the BBC don't seem to have covered George Clinton at all- it was definitely a highlight of the festival for me. Thousands of people dancing and smiling, pints of Brothers, medleys of songs that went on for 40 minutes, great solos, major basslines, dancers, that guy with the white fluffy hat... I'm sure they could have done another hour if the curfew hadn't cut in, it was going down so well with the crowd. I know it seems most people went with Muse, and I'm sure they were indeed epic and great, but no way was it as much fun as P-Funk. Great headliners. Anyone got any pictures or videos, or just things to say?

On a side note, I really like the crowd at the Jazz World/West Holts; the field was full of people, but there was enough space to move through it and to dance. Great atmosphere.

  4. Actually, I do remember ending up at the park stage at about 4 30 am in 2008, they were showing dr who on a screen on the stage to about 10 people sitting on the ground! It was a new one too. No guarantees it'll be the same this year, but it was quite a surreal thing to wonder across.

  5. Merch Stall is always to the left of the Pyramid stage (looking onto it), and there's another one to the left of the Other - that one sells lots of band t shirts too, but has the festival shirts too. Thats how I remember it anyway, could have changed this year. Shouldn't be too hard to find.

  6. Does anyone remember at Elbow in 2008, a guy in the crowd who kept trying to get Guy Garvey's attention by shouting "Guy! Guy! Guy Garvey!" again and again? He did it for about half their set, at some points getting the people around him to help with "3... 2... 1... Guy!" shouts. And then, when Guy finally did look his way, he left!

I'm not bringing this up for any particular reason, I just remembered it and it made me smile. One of those random funny things that happen at Glastonbury. Anyone else remember this, or anything similar?

  7. Do we think they will do an embryonic setlist then? Or maybe the older, last 5 years standard one for the festival crowd? On that note, I'm sure I saw the older setlist here somewhere, but can't find it now. Anyone able to post it?

  8. I'll join! it was good last year, I like quality of some of the artwork too, so physical cds a definite bonus. I will warn though, I won't send mine out till mid-june because of exams. But yeah, a fun thing to do!

  9. I'm sure this has been done before, but rather than just have a thread with a massive list of names which I'm not going to remember, I'd rather people came in here and wrote about a bit about the band, mentioned when/where they're on, and perhaps linked a video of them.

    I shall start.

I'm sure a lot of you know about them, but my band is British Sea Power. They're on Friday at Avalon, and, unless you have your heart set on seeing Neil Young, I would highly recommend seeing. One of my favourite bands, have written two of my favourite albums ever, and so, so good live.

I'll do another two a bit later. My lunch is ready. :)

  10. Pretty sure emily said a 'band' was playing the 'health and safety' slot. I assume that would rule out a solo show.

Not that I mind much either way; i'll be there after Shlomo anyway, so if its someone exciting, then happy days, if not, i'll head off and find something else. Probably the best way to deal with this special guest lark.

  11. Saw Hobo Jones & The Junkyard Dogs on friday, who were fantastic fun. Highlights were the crowd singing the "Gordon is a moron" bit from Jilted John, banging on the tea trays, pots and pans they handed out for the last song, and Wino Tyrone whacking a spoon on his electric guitar for American Idiot, then smashing it at the end. Great band!

Also wondered in on Sunday afternoon, to find klezmer/folk from who I later discovered where called 'Rafven'. Not many people, but a large circle was soon formed by the crowd, arms round each others shoulders, which moved in and out, with much kicking of legs. Next song, they threw their mascot, a stuffed toy fox called 'Mustafar' into the crowd, and instructed us to "keep mustafar alive" by throwing him up in the air. Then much crazy dancing.

So, what little I saw at the Avalon was fantastic. I'll definitely be back there next year!
