  1. The cuts at the BBC shone through with their poor coverage of this years festival.

Having Reggie Yeates as main presenter who has nothing to do with Glastonbury and has no relevence at all was a huge mistake. John Peel would turn in his grave.

The red button had very few smaller stage bands showing something different to what the main channels had shown - they were also repeating sets from bands from previous days on the red button. What's the point in that? Surely we want to see altenative acts playing fromt the main channels to give us a choice in oiut viewing.

The main channels played it extremely safe with their choice of bands...Scissor Sisters, Pet Shop Boys, Shakira.

  2. Great feature about The Arcadian Kicks working with Blondie's legendary producer, Mike Chapman, on BBC television last week.

(includes interviews with band, Jon Brookes and Mike Chapman plus live footage)

The band are on first in the Big Top on the Friday evening at 7pm at Wychwood Festival .

  4. Hi...The Arcadian Kicks have been lucky enough to be chosen to play in the Big Top on the Friday night at Wychwood - a festival i've been going to for the last 3 years...i honestly feel the band will really fit in with the vibe down there...a young female fronted classic style rock band with a modern approach - we just had our debut album produced & mixed by Mike Chapman, legendary producer of Blondie's classic albums, Parallel Lines, Eat to the Beat and Auto American...he also produced The Sweet and The Knack...now that's a pedigree! :P

We're chuffed to bits to play there and hope you'll come in to the Big Top and check us out!

    Love AK

Here's the full biog and details where you can hear some songs and get a free download

The Arcadian Kicks draw inspiration from right across the musical spectrum; whether it be the deep rooted influence of classic rock - Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac and The Beatles - or an affiliation with other groundbreaking contemporary artists who are simultaneously traversing the frontiers of modern music.

They fuse old and new, past and present, giving rise to a unique style of beautifully crafted pop songs which maintain a rocky and soulful edge. Imagine a concentrated soundscape of relentless rhythm, soaring melody and distinctive harmony colliding into a beautifully balanced and deeply perceptive approach to modern music. Complimented by lyrics that dance effortlessly through the music, The Arcadian Kicks are delicately declaring the voice of a new musical generation.

Retreating into the wilds of Evesham back in October 2009, the band embarked on recording their self-financed debut album which was produced and mixed by the legendary producer, Mike Chapman (producer of Blondie's classic albums, Parallel Lines, Eat to the Beat & Auto American).

The Arcadian Kicks will be on the road throughout Spring 2010 climaxing at the Wychwood and Isle Of Wight Festivals in June. They then hope to release their album in the Summer on their own label followed by more gigs through the rest of the year.

The first track from the band's album, "Black & White", is available as a FREE download via Reverb Nation at http://www.reverbnation.com/thearcadiankicks

They also have another track called "I Can't Sleep" available to download on the Strummerville charity compilation album for Jail Guitar Doors project, "Breaking Rocks".

  5. Hi - i'm thinking of taking a camper van to Glaston 2010 and was wondering wha the facilities were like there. Can you put up awnings? Are there showers and toilets over there. And one last thing whereabouts is the field? Is it close by everything

Thanks for this - hope you all had fab time

  6. Superb weekend all round really - i don't think we could of had better weather at Wychwood this year.

Our kids (4,7,8) thoroughly enjoyed them selves too.

Toilets were fantastic - clean throughout the whole weekend although i don't know why they were taken away from the camper van field so early on Monday morning (8am) when people hadn't had a chance to use them.

Super Furry Animals were superb and showed themselves to be one of the best live bands around - shame they don't get the recognition they deserve. Also enjoyed Little Boots.

Roald Dahl tent was fantastic - the 2 guys who tell the stories are brilliant.

The food stalls were all great - we enjoyed working our way around them! Great to not see the usual burger and and chips vans and see some real alternatives with something for everyone.

One gripe i have is that by Sunday afternoon some of the traders and even some of the tents were closed - even though they still had stuff to do listed in the programme (eg, The High School Musical singalong didn't happen which my daughter was looking forward to) - the festival lasts til Monday so i wouldn't expect things to start shutting down before Sunday night at the earliest.

Plus was it really necessary for the one of the bands in the main bar (forgot the name??) to go on about getting "f*cked up on Ketamine" on Sunday afternoon in between their songs in a room full of families. I realise you can't have censorship at festivals but you'd think at somewhere with such a family vibe like Wychwood they'd use a little discretion.

They were only minor gripes but thought i'd include them here - would love to hear any other thoughts.

We were all sad to leave which is a true mark of how fantastic the whole weekend was.

    See you next year.

  7. I've mentioned my dislike for The Killers here before but after seeing the full line up this year i've realised that V Festival is just not doing it for me anymore - it now appears more like a Radio 1 road show from the 80's.

I don't want to come over all bitter and twisted because i've had some wicked times at Weston Park previously and not missed a year yet but i think that's it for me. Shame.

At least it will give me an incentive to maybe check out some of the other festivals around

    Thanks for the memories V!

  8. You only have to hear what is definitely the worst single of the year "Human" to realise that the Killers are shit - utter bollox. If it comes on the radio i have to turn it off. I did give them a chance when they first came out and went to see them on the NME tour a few years ago because someone said they were a "bit New Order-y" but walked out half way through. I just don't get it........ and the lead singer is a humourless tit with no charisma.

And if V do announce Coldplay as the other headliner it will prove my next point...... Where's the magic or spark when V choose this year's headline act - The Killers are the same band who played 2 years ago?.... Maybe i'm wrong but they don't seem to have any creative ideas.

Check out Bestival's line up - Kraftwerk, Massive Attack, MGMT - now i'm not saying all those acts are suitable for V but at least they show they have and ability to not just go for the same acts time and time again...and yes i know Massive Attack played V a few years ago.

  9. That's it i've held out long enough - just seen SFA on the bill and that's it for me....i'm there!. Usually only go for the Saturday and Sunday now i've gotta go Friday too.

Anybody who hasn't seen SFA before are in for a treat...top quality live band - i've seen them a few times, the best being when they did a gig in quadrophonic sound in Birmingham a few years ago. Mind blowing ...and lots of fun!
