I was assuming there would have been something today from Jim Kings tweet on Tuesday saying there was some great news but not for revealing on thursday
-
Won't be today anyway.
-
any idea when the announcement will be?
-
I also always convince myself daft punk wont be there but there is always that wee twinge of hope i still get that they will be there.... a bit like when you were young and you really do hope Santas real just to believe the magic
-
If it had been true I would be hopeing that rock ness would be changing it name to "Rockness +1"
-
Not sure what this has to do with the topic, but yeah festivals became fashionable midway through the 00's. Annoys me too when you see girls (and guys!) cleaning their wellies at the taps, especially when its still muddy
But it's definately not always just about the music, certainly not these days. That's why festivals (or some anyway) try and be a bit different and put on other things for people to do away from the acts.
It's a competitive business, plenty festivals fail (ie Connect, Indian Summer etc) and if they don't book big name acts, it can prove costly for ticket sales and ultimately their business.
AEG are a huge corporate company, they are in it to make money. Jim and his team need to balance the books by keeping the festival popular and making money.
If this means they book acts like Kasabian then that's the way it needs to be. Plenty other similar size festivals would be envious of the line up Rockness seems to pull together and although I am critical of some of the acts, I will reserve judgement till the whole line up is out.
That kinda turned into a little off-topic rant but hey-ho.. am bored

Chemical Brothers : the test, surface to air & denmark
Kasabian: the Doberman, Vlad the Impaler & cutt off
-
IMO People used to go to festivals for the music, but now its somehow became fashonable.... girly girls wouldnt go because the mud, cold etc but now they go to try to be cool!!!
-
Jameriqui (keeps popping in my head i dunno why)
-
I dont understand how kasabian fans are all getting all this negativity, if you ask me last year at T in the park, all the arseholes i met were Biffy fans, and the year they were at rockness..... lets just say dont get me started!
I think Kasabian are a good signing for Rockness, its just a shame that they had been at T last year, thats the only bad point i can see.
To be fair every act at every festival is going to have some aresehole fans there, infact very festival is going to have some people that will ruin it for some others!
Well done rockness for getting two of my fav acts, and im still hoping Santa can bring me Daft Punk..... Please(i have been a good girl)

Is he not playing Inglston (just outside Edinburgh) in March, so wouldnt think that he would do 2 Scottish dates, but then Orbital went to Rockness 09 and did the EH1 thing at Ingleston in Aug 09. So maybe could be a possibility maybe.
Dont think id really wanna go to rockness if this happend tho!
-
last time i seen them at the corn exchange i got 2 tickets for £20 (they were £25 each).
But i dont know if im gonna bother anymore
-
Although i would be more than happy for DP to play, i have a feeling that it couldnt come close to the preformance at 07. The atmosphere was electric. If they came back and it didn't live up to 07 i'd be pretty dissapointed even though im sure they would still be brilliant.
-
Ahhh i was gonna try and go 2 the corn exchange on the night and try and get a ticket, do you think that will be possible???
only stay along the road so suppose i can just drown my sorrows in the pub next door if im not lucky!!!
-
I miss how Edinburgh Castle used to do gigs Moby was quite possible the best ever, and is seems the street partys getting that wee bit better every year (even tho the enemy are there and it will just be full of 15 year old bampot wannabe's)
Think ill be going to the edinburgh picture house for the Mylo (DJ Set) & James Zabiela, last year was groove armada DJ set and was pretty good.
Seen Erol Alkan at Cab Vol before and as much as i love the club, i couldnt take the heat that night and can only imagine what it would be like on NYE!
-
lmao! your gonna look so bored to him cos your checking your phone every few minutes
-
never knew it was 2 hours -.-
im supposed to be going out for dinner as well.
aw well a sly we pocket radio will have to be hidden well.
-
What times her show on anyways?
-
Tiesto at rockness????? thats more of a stabfest than Kasabian at rockness
anyway tiesto is playing just oustide Edinburgh in March
-
even though the strokes are bigger in terms of influence... id prefer kasabian.buti wouldnt go to T just to seethem headline (which tbh is a poor headliner for T anyway)
however... if kasabian played rockness it would attract a different kind of crowd (bring yer stab vests!)
-
Am i the only person that wish they would swap the Strokes for Kasabian. but then i wouldnt miss a Rockness without an amazing reason, and means ill just have to get a day ticket for T when they come on sale
-
Annie Mac recently played in Edinburgh. there was also fake blood & a SMD dj set so i wouldnt be suprised if it was maybe them.
-
2 Many Djs, Soulwax, Annie Mac and Rob Da Bank are all very good "dancyish" acts
Keep in mind there is still like 100+ acts to be announced!
I'm pretty chuffed with it to be honest
-
I'm kinda with you on that...nothing there that really gets me excited but im sure there will be more great acts announced
OPEN'ER 2013
