  1. My cat had a grass brunch and sicked up on my rucksack. She hates me leaving and whenever I leave for longer than a day refuses to let me fuss her for about 12 hours on my return! Could she have managed to do this on purpose?

  2. So he'll be clashing with Bruce?? No fair :D I love Jarvis would love to see him at Glastonbury even though I've got tickets for the Troxy gig but I'm not passing up the opportunity to see Bruce. Ahhh well these things happen, I just wanted a little pout about it.

  3. Thought I'd be in the same boat 'till a couple of weeks ago, I dislocated my knee last winter and it got fairly mangled in the process so the healing process has been quite slow. I've been doing what I like to call 'glasto training' over the past couple of weeks since I ditched my crutches, trying bit by bit to walk further distances every couple of days to strengthen my leg up a bit and doing as much physio as I can. I'm quite an independent person and don't like paying for taxis/buses and things if I don't need to so I got a lot of practice in on my 6 months on crutches so I thought I'd share a couple of tips I picked up that might be useful in general.

On average I think I was going through a pair of rubber feet about every 4 weeks so as mentioned before make sure you get a new set before you leave for the festival because without them things can become really uncomfortable.

If you havn't done so already try and make something to make the handles a little more comfortable, there are quite a few things you can buy for this but the best solution I found was to get some synthetic sponges and tape them to the handles of your crutches folded in half. You can shape them so they fit your hands. I used the green carpet tape (less slippy than duck tape) and then covered them with tubigrip (the small wrist support size fitted best), this is the best covering I found because it's not too soft that your hands slip and not too rough to be uncomfortable. Socks work quite well too if you sew them into the sponges so they don't move around too much.

Final tip is to get a small backpack if you're planning on going it alone at all (even small distances) to carry anything you can't fit into your pockets. Try and find something witch straps that aren't too rough because they can rub on your underarms a bit as you're walking, so if you're planning on this vest tops aren't the best option.

Festival wise I think most of the bigger main stages have disabled viewing stands, usually near the back, level to or to the side and just behind the mixing desk. That way you can get a good view without being pushed around. It's a really friendly festival so there will be plenty of people around willing to offer help and advice in general.

Hope some of this is helpful to someone and you all heal up quickly

P.s. Thanks for the idea on anti-inflammatory tablets Peony, that'll be the first thing on my list behind tickets and tent. Stupidly the idea has never even occurred to me!

  4. A big shout out to you all from sunny south wales, just like to say thank you :P for accepting us,we have been going to glasto for over 20 years now and have never Camped down this end of the woods,I have been following the forum for a while now and you all seem like a great bunch, there will be 5 of us coming up so we hope we will be okay to join in and pitch up and lets bring on the fun and the frolics!!!! and again... Thank you camp-Triangle
  5. Anyone know how long registration is taking to go through at the moment? my mate put his in last night and is waiting now for his number, be gutted if he misses out getting a bit nervous the tickets will be gone by the time his number comes through

  6. Yaaaay! I'm in for this one. Off to see them in Bristol soon, I think it's in Thekla, I forget! I hope it's not been and gone, oh lord where are the tickets? *goes a bit mad in the head* I thought the album was out next week as well best get myself down to a record shop tomorrow.

  7. I'm thinking of making a frank sidebottom flag no reason other than that he's fantastic and top, probably have to buy a pole on site though because I'm coming by bus. Anybody have any ideas how much a pole on site might put me back?

  8. Be this the B&Q truck everyone has put their trust in?

    http://nextday.diy.com/app/jsp/product/pro...productId=62362

If it is they've hiked the price right up!

Have to find a more practical way to carry the heavy stuff this year 'cos I've been on crutches for a bit now and I think my knee will still be pretty weak come June, so probably not a good plan to carry everything on my back :(

Still a good excuse to get girly and have Mr. B to lug a bit more :P

  9. I'm thinking of getting me one of these

Outwell Arizona (not from this site, they are expensive!)

main reason being it's very tall! Also because the big porch which opens up will give us a bit of space to sit if someone plops their tent backing onto the front door overnight (which seems to happen every year)

What I want to know is, do you think it's a bit greedy on pitch space for 2?

And has anyone got one? It's a big spend at £100 so if anyone can offer opinions, would be grateful!

  10. Have Elbow in Newport on Thursday, first time I've seen them proper (I don't count the manchester manics support a few years ago it was *ahem* unfortunate)

The Sparks At Kentish Town Forum, a first for me for band and venue :P

    Russell Brand in the CIA.

    Art Brut At Bristol Thekla.

I'm going to three of the Morrissey dates (If he turns up)

Jarvis Cocker at the Troxy, I love this venue ;)

Hopefully Antony and the Johnsons in Bristol Colston Hall if I can scrounge some returns.

I like this thread it's like a little gig guide, apart from the fact I'm skint this week :D

  11. I know some people stash all of their cash (safely wrapped in a bag) in the lockups and then pop in each morning to get out what they need for the day - saves queueing at the cashpoint and you don't need to worry about having all your money on you at once!
  12. Never had a massage in the green fields, you have to book apparently and I'm not very good at time keeping, especially at the festival!

Never had a shower, can't be bothered queuing.

I've not watched anyone play anywhere in the new dance village.

Never had one of those nice sounding veggie breakfasts from green fields, it's on my list of priorities.

Never been to see breakfast with howard marks though I always intend to, does he even still do that?

I've never woken up without a hangover, though never has it not been easily cured with a pint or two.

I've never been bored or unhappy, apart from maybe when leaving on the monday.

  13. Probably having a smoke for the first time watching underworld on the pyramid, getting a bit freaked out by the visuals and then spending what, looking back, seems like a number of hours sat outside the cookie stall that used to be somewhere by the New Bands tent stuffing my face, giggling to myself and meeting some interesting people, I probably came off as fairly 'interesting' at the time too. I remember going back to my tent and noticing someone had rolled up my sleeping bag and left some glowsticks on my pillow, I think maybe they had a little kip and left a gift as a thankyou, best explanation I can think of anyway! It was a good day

  14. I'd say your best bet is to stick with the Millets onsite, you'll get a tent that keeps you dry for a start and they don't Jack up the prices for the festival so you're not going to be ripped off! They always have quite a few budget tents at the stalls. Maybe if you contact them they will be able to tell you what they plan to stock over the weekend so you know what you can and cannot get.

There are plenty of places on site to buy all kinds of camping equipment, I wouldn't rely on Joe Bananas starter camping sets, it's less likely to keep you warm and comfy than my nieces £9 play tent! They do sell nice warm blankets and gloves though :P
