Pete Doherty watching Lekiddo at Summerhouse a bit ago. Proper good lad.

Haha..yeah, my wife caught him there too and grabbed a photo. Never been much of a PD fan but him liking Lekiddo has made me warm to him a bit more.

Lekiddo was frankly my highlight of the weekend, never seen him before and within 2mins was joining in the dancing...

    PinchyPinchyKissKiss 😉

  2. Thanks all for the help/tips.
This was for use one of the best years we've ever had. The MH made life so much easier and will be a permanent feature in all future festivals for us.

We camped at Cross Keyes Inn on the Monday night, it was a 20min drive to the site the next morning at 11am, virtually no traffic, took us 40mins from setting off to getting parked in E18...perfect location and given pletny of room to fit a friends tent and gazebo/sehlter (no awning).

It took 4hrs on Monday to get through 3 fields and off site... but think that was down to some  broken down vehicles blocking the lanes.

Saw quite a few 8m+ mohos as well as a number of twin axles... not sure how they managed that, thought they had to go to B&W.

Very impressed with the lack of litter/rubbish as well.

See you all next year 🙂

  3. A bit of a question for the motorhomer/campervanners out there....

I've been going to Glastonbury for many years.
But since 2015 we've had major issues getting tickets.
This ended up one year where after 3 years of failing we spent the money on a gholiday to New Zeland instead and whilst there hired a Motorhome....a n d have n ow fallen in love with Motorhomes... So, this year is our first year in a MH. Looks like we're heading to the Campervan East fields.
    From your experience...

What should we avoid and what should we try to, any tips/tricks you'd care to share? Any fields to steer clear of?

Got a question about glass items in the MH/CV fields. We're hrijng so the MH will have glasses etc... do we need to ensure no glass items are in the vehicle or does the glass ban focus mainly when entering back into the main site?

  4. For the record most MoHo companies put their prices up around Glastonbury time.
This can either be a set fee for the duration or a daikly hike.
For insatnce, the MoHo company I'm using have added an extra £500 to the overall hire cost. Some will add an extra deposit charge instead...
Couple that with it being a the peak period for MH hiring costs and you could be spending upwards of £1500-2000 for a modern 4 berth MoHo.

YMMV, you can certainly find cheaper out there, McRent are quite good, we've hired from them before and had no issue.

The one that always seems to get me is John Peel, I swear one year they didn't put it up until the Monday of festival week!

'Oh no what's wrong with John Peel?!' said my brain.

Or the one year they put the Mandela Bar up... and then. tore it down again and then piut it up again... confused the hell out of me 🙂

  6. This year BOTH of my trolleys died at varying point son the last day.

    This rather nifty fishing trolley:

    deluxe-trolley-2203d.jpg

Died on the 2nd return trip to take everything back on the Sunday, the spigot that the wheel was mounted on split meaning the wheel would not stay on.

Our primary trolley, which we've used for about 5 years:

    40_Large_Garden_Trolley.jpg

Also died, one of the two front wheel struts split as we were taking the tent (27KG) back to the van.

We managed to do a Macguyver and use some bungee clips to draw the wheel braces together and

it just about held up though.... on the plus side I felt incredibly manly making running repairs and

    actually getting them to work

The upside is I get to look for new trolleys next year, I've got my eye on this motorised version :-)

  7. Maybe I'm weird for being able to appreciate all sorts of different cultural events and enjoy them for what they are.

Aha... I see sir has bought the latest copy of 'Passive Aggressive Statements to Lose Friends & Alienate People To."

  8. The webcams are still capturing images. In the meantime I've made my collection of 9400+ images from the cams available to download to do with as you wish. All of them are hi-res 4000px width images straight from the cams. Currently totalling 2.5GB, the dates these images cover are May 13th -> July 3rd. And yes, the filenames are timestamped :-)

I've zipped these up and you can grab them from: https://goo.gl/xirJ3h

NB: Google will say there's an error (only because it balks at scanning anything >2.3GB) click the download button when prompted and you'll get access to 'download it anyway'.

NB: I'm not currently adding any new images to the library, but will as soon as they turn the cams off (if they turn them off :-).

  9. What setup have you used for this? I'm also saving images for a timelapse and have gone for 10minute intervals.

Is it automated? I'm rubbish at computers so had to go the manual way!

I'm doing this at quite a low level using PHP (programming langueg) & the Crontab 9a method to automatically run programs ever N mins/hours/days/months etc)

The filename of the image that displays changes every 5mins, my script simply picks up the latest file and saves it.

    Filenames look like this:

    and so on.

NB: not every 5min slot has a file, it's about once an hour during the nightime:

I'm sure there are plenty of plugins and tools out there that would work in conjunction with

your browser, I've done my way as I wanted to have one of my servers do this instead of

    one of my desktops/laptops.

  10. It would be great to get a Cam playback after the festival so I can see everyone arriving and setting up on the Wednesday :)

I'm grabbing all images and archiving them off at the moment,

I'll eave my script running over the week if it's still up, in the past they've turned it off though,

but this is the new cam so maybe they'll keep it up?

  11. Hello yes we are all still around. I was in the original group in 2007. We have had people come and go but lots of us originals and many that have met up over all those years since about 40 of us!

As stated we did move from William's/ Dragon's to Hitchin Hill as they took those fields over for crew camping! We now have people in East & West campervan fields and Disabled camping! So spread around a bit this year. Send me message and we can arrange a meet up xx

Do you still camp in Hitching Hill as well? We're all 40+ in our group and have been on Hitchin Hill since about 2007 too.

  12. ah okay - makes sense. as always, an excellent informative post from you, sir! it is a shame tho, the reusing is such a neat idea.

i do like the litter-economy that this generates, but equally there is an army of litter pickers who get free tickets to the festival and pick up all of the waste every night.

of course if people weren't such irresponsible dicks then neither would be needed...

Just a quick point-of-order: They're not free tickets. People work (IIRC) 8hr shifts each day to get them, they also have to supply a deposit equal to the value of the ticket so that if they don't turn up they forfeit their deposit. Saying they get free tickets downplays the labour they put in and the vital role they play in keeping the whole place functioning.

As you said though, if people weren't dicks and didn't make such a mess there wouldn't be so many people needed which in turn would mean more tickets for public consumption.

  13. Yeah, it's sort of mid way up the theatre field on the left as you face upwards. They had a nice pile of chipped wood to watch the Summer House on last year when the mud hit.

And I'm a big fan of strong beer. Mmm mm mm.

Is it the one that was next to the Pimms Bus last year?

  14. I'm looking forward to seeing the Cambodian Space Project. I didn't know there was a whole Cambodian beat/surf music scene in the late 60s early 70s before the Khmer Rouge took power. It's full of tremolo & reverb, driving surf-beats & women singing risque lyrics in Khmer. Think Dick Dale meets the east. The history of that genre is quite amazing and sad as well, I lost an afternoon reading about it.

  15. When you arrive at Glastonbury you get your bag, magazine, lanyard etc. What's the argument (apart from the H&S issues discussed) for also supplying a pint/half-pint glass as part of this package as well. Yours to keep after the festival, but should it break you can exchange it, should you lose it then it's just a £1 to replace.

Don't want to lug the glass around all day? You could have a simple token system if you didn't want to lug your glass about, take it back to the bar (or specific glass return/washing space) and grab a token/coin that can be used to bet a new glass at other bars.

And don't get me started on bloody potato tent pegs! lol

  16. We've been bringing our own polycarbonate glasses for the past 3/4 years now.

I can't stand the paper cups you get, they're unstable and a pain to hold, this

year we've upgraded again and gone for polycarbonate pint (dimple) pots :-)

About £12-15 for 4. These things are sturdy as hell, no chance of cracking

unless you sit on them. only problem is that the pint still gets poured into the

original paper cup so there's still wastage there.
