  1. Hi Flounder

My fifth Endoresit, and still my favourite festival.

Pluses: great lineup, as usual. Beforehand, I thought it might be a bit too heavy on the punk - and I speak as an old punk - but I couldn't have been more wrong. Plenty of old favourites, and plenty of new & interesting bands - just right.

Despite cheddar valley running out, good beer & cider availabilty throughout the weekend. Much better than last year, when I think a number of bars didn't have any at opening time.

Security presence seemed about right, although to be fair we were a bunch of middle aged fellas, so not likely to attract too much negative attention.

Negative: one of the things we always enjoy is having the room to spread out in the family / quiet camping area - a lot more than most other festivals. Fair enough, the late calving meant that there wasn't so much room this year, which is no-one's fault - but it still felt a lot more cramped, busy and noisy than usual. Partly, I think this was because there were several groups of youngsters on day tickets, who spent most of the day and night sitting around their tents getting off their faces, with some never even venturing into the festival site. I realise as I write this how middle aged I'm sounding, and I'd never begrudge kids having a good first festival experience, but it did feel there was a slightly different vibe this year. Maybe a few too many day tickets this year? Small grumble aside, I absolutley love this festival, and can't wait to next year. Keep up the good work!

  2. Plenty of freestanding washbasins around if all you want is a quck wash with a flannel. In previous years there've been some posh pay showers in a trailer, too. Don't know if they'll be there or not this year? Flounder?

I'm with you, though, and don't worry about it until I get home - I thInk most are the same, so were all equally whiffy by Monday

  3. Any suggestions for good outlets in West Dorset for nice summer frocks for the fuller figured gentleman?

Managed to get a nice little number last year from another festival - figure hugging in all the right areas, epsecially beer gut - but it's SO last year. Local charity shops don't seem to cater for my shape, and I can't spend much (Mrs Mole says I waste too much money already on cider - but how can you waste money on cider??)

  4. Bad Manners get my vote, too. They'd go down a storm. So would Orange Street, while I've got my ska head on. It would be great to see some classic ska - like when Symarip and Skatalites were on last year.

Goldblade should come back, but much as I'm looking forward to seeing the Damned, I'm not fussed about seeing many other old punk bands doing greatest hits with one or two original members.

I know I mentioned it a few months back, but please please please book Wreckless Eric!

Really, I'll be happy with whoever plays - haven't ben to a duff'un yet. More of the same please!

  5. Really missed the main stage this year. Can't really put my finger on it, but it just doesn't feel the same watching a headliner in a tent. I'd rather be outside, even if it means getting wet!

If you do have to use a tent next year, please either make it a bigger one - or one that opens up fully. With the closed off bit where the pa system was, it wasn't easy to see the bands from outside unless you were stood in the right spot.

That gripe aside, congrats on the best Endorseit yet!

  6. Like Northernmonkey, I also think day tickets can spoil the atmosphere. But the difference with Guilfest is that we're not right in the town centre, where idiots can just wonder in & spoil it for everyone else. If you're going to travel all the way out to Sixpenny Handley, you're doing it because you're into the music.

If you sell the day tickets with camping, then everyone can get a mini festival experience, and come back next year for the full weekend when money might not be so tight.

  7. Hi Flounder,

With the reduced numbers of tickets this year, are you still having the whole of the top field as the family camping area again? We're bringing some friends this year with kids, and were thinking of having a communal gazebo - I know there's plenty of room if the arrangements are the same as the last couple of years, but wouldn't try to squeeze it in if all the camping's in one field.

Just got our tickets, BTW - can't wait!

  8. Interesting mix, as usual. Not many "big names" yet (Sham 69 are no Undertones / Buzzcocks). Is that because less tickets on sale = smaller budget? Not that that's a problem, if it means keeping it a small, friendly festival, and often discovering a new band is better than listening to someone churning out a greatest hits set.

Any plans to run the punk karaoke again?

    Roll on August!

  9. Ashamed to say that the weather put me off seeing some of the "bigger" names on the JC stage, but that meant I caught a number of other bands I might not have bothered with otherwise. That's one of the things I enjoy most about festivals like this - discovering great bands I'd never even heard of before. Winners in this category? Gotta be Big Red Ass. Lotsa fun, had the audience on side, and put a big grin on my face.

Congrats to Flounder & co - hope you get the problems in the other threads sorted, and looking forward to next year.

  10. Thanks, Flounder. My tickets arrived today, and there it was in black and white. I've picked them up on the gate before, so really hadn't been aware of this (that's my story, and I'm sticking to it).

Just as well I didn't ask my dogs allowed question too...
