  1. We stayed in Love fields last year and thought it was a really good option. But one of our main reasons was logistics. We came by car, have a tent not a van and couldn't arrive until Thursday. Camping  in Love Fields meant that we could turn up Thursday afternoon, take our car to our pitch to unload and camp just outside the gate by the circus field, which meant that we were nearer to the bits of the festival we are interested in than manny of the onsite camping fields. The showers, loos, space around the pitches and the onsite bar where you could charge phones were also a plus.

  2. Love fields. Was the best place we have camped so far. It was right by Gate C with loads of space and we could drive to our tent pitch. We have to minimise the amount of walking we do (which is hard at Glastonbury) so it was perfect.

  3. I understand why it wasn't announced but do think it was a shame for Libertines fans who were on site and didn't know about their set. And also because it meant that the atmosphere wasn't as good as it could have been, given that a large proportion of the crowd weren't there go see the Libertines.

I had no idea the Libertines playing was even a possibility until Friday, when I started getting texts and FB messages from friends not at the festival. I don't go to Glastonbury for the music ( only saw 2 bands this year) but would have been genuinely upset if I had missed seeing the Libertines on the pyramid stage, because it was special.

  4. Looks as if I will be following my usual pattern of not watching any of the main stage headliners. About the only thing that would have tempted me to the Pyramid was the Libs. Just as well there are many other stages / non music things to entertain me at Glastonbury.

  5. I don't see the Libs as cashing in. More, as was said above, doing the things they didn't get to do first time round. I would love them to play Glastonbury, but I don't thing they will.

Someone (who was spot on re their live dates last year) posted on another forum suggesting that they are doing TITP, R&L (Leeds on the Friday), A Perfect Day/Alpha Romeo City Sound, Rock en Seine, Low Festival and Ibiza Rocks. No mention of Glastonbury so I am not holding my breath.

  6. Agreed. Only slightly less annoying than the oasis are the best band ever band wagon. It's over. Move on. They were of their time. If you haven't progressed your taste in music then it was shit

    to begin with....

Just as well everyone doesn't share your view. And Woffy, I love the Libs second album ( almost as much as I love Down In Albion). And, from the new record deal, best headliner award etc etc, I would hardly think the Libs are dead as an ongoing concern. In any case, the beauty of somewhere like Glastonbury, where there are so many stages, is that there will be something for everyone.

  7. Even if its shite they would still headline.

    They aren't that good live.

That 's a bit of a sweeping statement - I guess it depends on how you like your live bands to be. I think they're awesome live. But there again, I don 't like anything too polished.

  8. I was at that Clapham Common thing (Get Loaded wasn't it?). Amazing times.

Yes, that's right. My daughter shot to the front on her own (I was a few rows back and to the side with her little sister on my shoulders) and the bouncers were feeding her crisps and cans of coke through the barriers. She absolutely loved it.

  9. I would love him to headline again. My then 7 yo dragged me half way across the site to see him last time he played and I am so glad she did because it was one of the highlights of the weekend. We also saw him at the festival on clapham common at around the same time. I hadn't 't seen him live since the late 80s / early 90s, he is an awesome live performer.

  10. I would love them to play. They have been brilliant this year ( all the old magic back in spades) and I certainly don't get the impression they are doing it just for the money. The gigs at Ally Pally were special. I would happily go and see them on any stage at Glastonbury. I would even break my habit of not watching main stage headliners for them. And as was said further up the thread, they appear to be writing again, and planning a new album, so i would not be at all surprised to see them play.

  11. Fair enough I was just saying about it as I was unsure if you knew Wickets was there even as it never fill up and you could pitch a stage in there any day even Friday.

Yes Wickets is a really good place to camp and is by far my favourite place to camp on site. Last time we camped there, we were parked nowhere near gate A and it was a massive trek to get there (and was horrendous on the way back as it was the 'wrong sort of mud' for our garden trolley and it kept getting stuck).

We tried tangerine fields last year because we knew we couldn't leave home before Thursday pm and discovered that we didn't mind being off site but didn't much like the tiny tents we had hired. This year is a bit of an experiment.

  12. Thanks for the reply, I can't say I get it really even now £250 for a patch of grass is beyond me, but each to their own and all that. Just a few points though as you say you've never been before.

    1. time it right and you an camp near the fence (and nearish to your car anyway)

    2. I've been going since 1990 and never had a thing stolen I think someone had been in our tent in about 1993 (not sure as so mashed it could have been us messing it up) but nothing taken. Anything we've ever lost has been handed in too

    3. see point 1, camp on the outskirts, near the fence and it's usually quieter

    4. maybe for when you wake up/ go to bed but during the day unrless you plan on trekking back everytime you'll be usuing the same toilets as the rest of us. Never used a shower onsite myself but anyone who has says they are spot on

    5. charge points onsite for phones though again I don't bother, when my phone goes it stays gone until I leave. I've never felt the need for a hairdryer or a fridge myself but wouldn't pay extra for them anyway.

Or you could go into the family in Wickets, right by gate A and never fills up at all.

Yes, we could go to a Wicket (have camped there maybe 3 times, the old family field a couple of times and the random family field they had by dairy ground once) but we don't want to this year. Being offsite means we will be camped maybe 5 min walk max from our car. And we know we have a camping space big enough for our huge tent, even if ( as we may have to ) we arrive on Friday. Being on site suits most people (and has suited us in the past ) but it really isn't a priority for us this year.

  13. For us ( one adult plus 2 kids) it is not having to arrive on a Wednesday to secure a camping spot (kids school is not pro festivals) and not having to trek across the site with all our stuff. We can take a big tent, bedding etc and make a really comfortable camp. The only downside is the walk to and from the tent at the beginning and end of the day (or twice a day if we go back to the tent late afternoon and have a shower etc).

  14. We have booked a pitch only with them for this year. We stayed in Tangerine Fields last year and A pitch only at Love a Fields is half the price, and means we can use our ( much nicer) big tent.

No you can't go and use the food pace from the super expensive yurts by gate C you are in the field up by gate B. I think that is because the yurts by gate C come with food etc included, so the food place there place there doesn't sell food if you see what I mean.

  15. Agree with this. I wouldn't be quite as fed up right now if I hadn't put my card details in 4 times & kept seeing the session has timed out message. At that point you have no idea whether to use the back / refresh button / click on buy tickets again.

Check seetickets - Ionly saw one purchase confirmed page but ( according to the mail I got from seetickets when I requested details of my purchases because I was worried at not yet having a confirmation email) I have 'purchased' 2 sets of deposits.

  16. Would be nice if it didn't allow you to buy 2 sets of deposits.

We struggled with the payment page going down and it appears we have purchased 2 sets of deposits, one at 9:24 and one at 9:53 (long after we had gone offline). From the ref numbers I think the 9:53 purchase was from an earlier attempt than the 9:24.

We only got one purchase confirmation page up.

I am assuming that one of the purchases will eventually get refunded. Maybe ( if this happened to a large number of people) there will be an early resale of the duplicates.
