Flip me, we're just around the corner from Blissfields time!
For all of those lucky sausages who were at Glasto this past weekend, hope it was way out groovy. If you're coming on to the United States of Blissfields, we can't wait to see you.
We can't wait to see all those coming along this weekend (hopefully Thursday). The site is looking beautiful and getting busier by the day - the village is taking shape.
If this weather carries on, I may cry with joy, and if not, well, whatcha gonna do!
Much love

With tickets for the festival very close to being sold out, we're very much in the mood to party.
So...
tomorrow (Thursday 16th) at the Orange Rooms in Southampton from 7.30pm, we're having one. It kind of celebrates the beginning of summer too, even if it does rain tomorrow - boo!
But hooray...it's...
The United Sounds of Blissfields
For the small sum of £5, the fantastic line up is these tremendous artists:
Delays (DJ set)
Subsource (Live)
Cherbourg (Live)
Beans on Toast (Live)
Hijera (DJ Set)
Marcus Muktarsingh (DJ)
Little Chief (DJ)
Ally Wolf (DJ)
Arrive early and enjoy the evening of entertainment. It will be a BONKERS night out, or a very good Thursday before the weekend arrives

If you've a spare £45 left, I'd recommend Blissfields. I'd recommend it anyway even if it was more than that as well as it's great value.
A very small festival at 1,250 and this year is going to be sensational, and back at the farm. Plus, for anyone who has been, the site will be very different and there will be treats aplenty.
Plus, the mighty and legendary Super Furry Animals will be playing an absurdly intimate gig for them.
Come to Blissfields if you can one and all. You'll love the other ones too as they are all great too
Mucho amore

I have some very good sources
Mind expanding can mean lots of things though and could be a very diverse music style or something unique or without sonic boundaries or...
There are loads of acts left as well from what I know

Mercury Nominees can also be part of a mind-expanding line-up, not just headliners of course
Some of these suggestions are fantastic as well and are on my personal fantasy Blissfields line-up - you have us playing in the big leagues as they'd say in the good ol' US of A!
Headliner will be great no matter what

To anyone came to our ticket launch in London last night, and Southampton last week, a huge green field in baking sunshine sized thanks for being such a great crowd and making us all think about the summer in a big way.
All live acts and DJs were excellent and both events were proper parties that we enjoyed thoroughly and there was not a particular highlight as there were just too many to mention. If you came, expect more of the same this summer as, despite all that is going on in the world, we're still all ready to have a bloody good time and I reckon this summer's festival season will be one to remember for certain
Much love

A good mate of mine runs this festival and I work with him at Bestival. He said last year was amazing and couldn't take the smile off his face when talking about it and everything else I heard was great. Reckon it's well worth a go, especially if you can go to Blissfields too

I for one am very much looking forward to the HoJo experience, especially having been privileged to witness the beginning of the Howard Jones message board campaign on Bestival's site all those years ago. I'm also thinking that we're going to have to get a bigger stage booked to showcase you properly
It's brass monkeys out there but I'm bloomin excited about the summer, especially now the tickets are on sale for the Blissfields summer experience and it all feels very real indeed

Ha ha, well we have the Tractor stage this year so that accounts for the DJs and they're all great too and will expand the audio space of Blissfields, and that's not just the space for Kozmiko Kenzosan. We'll also be keeping the spirits up between every act with jocks spinning musical pleasure.
Hands up, baby hands up, give me your love , gimme gimme your love gimme gimme
The whole weekend will be a joyous celebration
I am already miles away into the summer and smiling in the fields of Bliss

30+ Acts and DJs will be announced tomorrow and everyone's great as far as we're concerned. And the others we're waiting on are just fantastic.
Tomorrow (Friday) 9am tickets on sale and first line-up announcement - don't miss it

How easy/fesible is it to get from the farm to Southampton on the Sunday for a flight around 6pm?
What sorta transport/time should I be looking at to get there?
-
Just a quick message to those who might want to come along to the Southampton Ticket launch gig/party.
Tickets are on sale at Oxfam Music in Southampton and you can give a 50p donation with the purchase of a ticket so a good place to buy and they also have loads of music there to go through whilst record shops still exist!
They are also available on We Got Tickets and Ticketmaster - search for Subgiant.
Not long until ticket launch for Blissfields 2009 - can't wait

Intrigued - are you trying to say that there'll be a current favourite of the media present, soon to be huge.
We're personally going for the curry beforehand.

Both of these nights are going to be pretty special and well worth attending.
Southampton will be a rather raucous smaller affair with some pretty damn super music. I myself have a fun-filled set of music prepared that'll probably appall Magic 42 Just kidding big man but Balearic Discotoca will sum it up and I have some gems from summers of love past as well as future grooves. Our live music is top-flippin-notch and the DJs are darn ticky too for this night, no doubt. If you're a South Coaster or happen to be in the South for any reason, come check it
The London gig promises to be rather exciting too with a surprise act that'll please many a fan of new music and the location's pretty good too and you can pop and have a curry after partying with us. That's what I'm planning anyway. Why have champagne to celebrate when you can get a super Balti down the road?
Basically, Blissfields 2009 will be off with a bang and the summer action we have planned is going to be the best yet!

Blissfields is a particularly family friendly affair and won't break the bank either so could be one of two you do this summer
Other than that, Larmer Tree and End of the Road have a good shared setting although it's getting pretty chilly at night in mid-Sept (EotR), which is worth considering with little ones unless they're super hardcore. Lattitude and Big Chill probably also worth a shout as have the space and facilities for children.
But, apart from Blissfields, Camp Bestival is super child friendly. Took my one year old there last year and she had a fabulous time as there was genuinely a great deal to do for kids. Plus, the line-up will probably be pretty family firendly but then that's a question of what you like musically really, which is your bag.

This would be such a shame and as part of an independent festival, I have to hope that this larger sized festival can keep the flag flying for true independence.
Good luck Tony

It's simply the truth, of a comparison of the profile, sales and knowledge of the bands - it's no comment on "good" or bad".
-
Blissfields is another very different beast - the acts are of a far lower level to Guilfest, and aside from people who desperately want to see one or more of the bands they have, the Guilfest line-up will be a generally more attractive line-up (remember, there's still masses to be announced) for people who are attracted by a line-up in general.
Best small Fest!

No good for you this year but Blissfields was back with a bang this past weekend. We're already working on plans/thoughts for next year. We have an amazing audience that makes the festival and we love them for it. Everyone is friendly and you can read any review and they'll say what it's like. It is also genuinely small at 1,250 people. Don't miss out next year
