She's just been announced for some other festivals in nearby countries around the same time and fits with the sort of cheaper headliners Opener books these days.

Rolling Stones, Kendrick, and Springsteen apparently.
With what we have so far, it wouldn't surprise me if it was Taco Hemingway, A$AP Rocky and Måneskin. Not exactly 2020 levels, is it?

The only proper (regarding similar fanbase) and possible replacement I can think of now is Billie Eilish.
As long as it's not RHCP or Mumford and sons

It seems that they will be able to do it! Neither Chemical Brothers nor The Killers were announced as headliners, so we're still missing one big name. If not The Cure, maybe RHCP? That's the only name coming to my mind now.
I was certain about Foals, but it's pretty strange they still have not been confirmed. They already have so many other dates announced for 2021...
Noooo not RHCP. They were awful in 2016.
Assuming Taylor Swift isn't playing, who is her replacement?
-
Killers also rescheduled their tour to exact same dates next year, so probably them too

This has to happen. Fuck that virus!

Shuttle buses are great. Traffic can be crap but you're never waiting more than 5 to 10 minutes to get on one even at peak
-
Wife's hoping for Billie Eilish. I'd be very happy with Placebo. Line ups shaping to be a nostalgic trip back to my late teens!
-
Any clues who the act after Kendrick might be?
-
Nice surprise! I'd consigned myself to the depressing reality of it being Mumford and sons
-
Definitely exchange the tickets at the festival site. Queues at the station are hours long. Onsite it's 5 minutes
-
I wonder if festivals pay premiums for announcing artists first. It would make sense from a marketing perspective. But the other festivals that week have pretty much announced the whole line up so what's the hold up?
-
Werchter's toilets are fucking great! And there's a lot less queueing for stuff. But they have food and drinks vouchers instead of contactless which is a massive pain

I'm surprised at the unprofessionalism though. From an attendee point of view, I've always had a great time with no issues. I've been to much worse organised festivals, suffering through primavera for example, as well as some major ones in the UK.

How does a festival that costs half the price of Roskilde and is two thirds of the capacity manage to outspend it?

+ BROCKHAMPTON and 5 Seconds of Summer. All can be ruled out from Open'er.

Only hint I can give is one of the possible/ quite likely headline acts at Open'er has never played there at all (as far as I can tell)
Also I guess RHCP will be announced but that is a total guess. All the locals told me when they played in 2016 more people were watching the football than RHCP though so maybe they won't want to come back...
Was at that show and honestly found it pretty awful. I had seen them 10 years before that and it felt like age had definitely caught up with them

Really slow news year this year. What's going on?
-
In 2016 I'm sure there was a tent facing the main stage which did decent beer. Does anyone know anywhere that will be showing they England Colombia match (Gdansk and Sopot are ok too)?
-
Is it me or does it feel lopsided towards Wednesday and Thursday? Reminds me of the first time I went and kings of leon, placebo and the prodigy were all on the Sunday
-
How big are The Killers in Poland? Their tour dates still look pretty empty that weekend
-
Who's excited for tomorrow's definite announcement
-
There are so many decent acts around Europe that week. Surely someone's got to turn up!
-
Is it normal to be waiting this long? I've only been in 2016 and 2009 and don't remember there being so few announcements by April. I thought maybe because they're probably paying less than other festivals for the bands, that they have to wait but why would it be this long after other festivals?
Rock Werchter 2023
in overseas festivals
Posted
Rock Werchter has been going a bit middle aged man for a while now. Their choice to go for that demographic whilst other festivals have diversified musically and otherwise I suppose.
Probably a chance that there will be a female headliner, second liner etc. but I agree it is noticeable that other recent festivals have had acts like Cardi B, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, Adele, Megan Thee Stallion etc. Whilst Werchter bring out Pearl Jam, Editors, Kings of Leon, RHCP for the 10th time, some of whom peaked in popularity over 30 years ago now, but will be defended on here as the biggest bands.
