  1. Why why why did I hang up my V festival wellies. I knew I would feel like this now.

Letting my head (line up) rule my heart (lots of happy memories)

This is the first time since 2004 I will not be attending, I have not really thought about it until this week and to now say I am gutted is an understatement.

So get your wellies and femme fresh at the ready. Ignore the walk tot he campsite, the over priced food and all the usual crap people complain about, you will all have a ball and wish every one of you the time of your lives.

  2. Yes it used to be a security company and now it the police with the sniffer dogs, they are at the entrance, random car stop of search tents for cars on the way in (always pulling groups of lads) and then they also have the dogs going around the tents during the days with the rights to sniff and search tents.

But dont worry there are countless numbers of dealers around the site all day and night, they practically have a sign around the heads saying "buy your drug here" in Groove Armada last year I must have been asked if I wanted to buy anything 10 times before the act came on.

  3. I think Plan B subbing just really made my mind up after all the years that I have hung my V Wellies up. Last year was dreadful, the sound on the 4 stage was terrible not helped by his tone deaf singing voice, he was shocking, out of tune and uneasy on stage, the only good bit to his 3 hit wonder show was the beat boxer for the first few minutes, our whole group walked away I dont have a clue how he is going to fill one of the biggest slots of the day. Glas Vegas will be amazing though but they are playing in a little venue in Bolton on the 25th March anyway for £15 per ticket. Booooo sad times

  4. I think I am officially old. Gone are the days of getting into the office today and being on text to see how many tickets our group had secured, the line up announcment on the edge of my seat. But no My V festival wellies are well and truly hung up, is this my age? is this the decline of the music industry? I dont know Even my work colleagues (who like Cliff Richards) have missed the mayhem of today and buying tickets for us all. From the people I would see from the Line Up, Imelda May, Courteeners, OCS, I just feel I am getting Festival De Ja Vu and when my 6 year old daughter was begging for me to get tickets and take her as she loves the line up, I knew my v days were well and truly over.

I am going to sit in the garden and cry into my Pims come V weekend

  5. I would love Arcade Fire to headline V, can't see it happening though.

I have seen them at Brixton, Appollo, MEN, and Mancehster Central and would love to get to see them Headline a Festival.

They are musicians and not two chord tony's like allot of the football Hoolie main stream Indie, they are lyrcial genius and so so talented, Wake Up, in my opinion, is not their best hit but to see Bowie get up on stage with them and perform it was amazing, I dont think they have ever written a ruff tune and the fact they all can write, perform so many different musical instruments, It is just taste in music, I love their influences, like Bowie, springstein, New Orde. Manchester Central last week was an amazing amazing gig, loved it

  6. If you're into a less poppy line-up do Download. The atmos is 2nd to none with 100% less chavs & morons than at V.

V was my favourite festival until I went to a different one. If you can only afford one festival you should get the most bang for your buck & go somewhere where you get a whole extra day of bands for the same price as your V ticket. V is the perfect festival for newbies or those unsure whether they'll like the festival experience or not. If you've enjoyed V then go elsewhere, you'll find better facilities, more choice & considerably less knob-heads (and yes, that includes Leeds).

  7. The lads in our group all had their bollocks felt by the stewards, they felt between their legs and actually grabbed their bollocks, now the boys in our camp probably loved it and it made way for me to walk through with 3 litres of wine strapped to my chest but how they did not suss that I am clearly not a double FF bra beggers beleif

  8. I spent an obscene amount,

I have to base it x 2 as the shopping was all together

    Face value ticket £175 x 2

    £160 - 0ther (again dont ask)

£120 - At Asda the day before, booze, snacks, wipes etc..

    £12 - per morning per breakfast = £36

    £20 per day for meals = £60

£40 per day in Barcardi tent £80

£100 approx on rubbish, hats, day glo face paint, glow sticks

    £20 petrol

    £10 parking

    £60 for new tent

this comes to about a grand all in all, this was between two of us, I know it is spread over a few months with the tickets being bought earlier in the year,

Again i think it is worth every penny and a festival onlys costs what you want it to cost but Jesus mother Mary and God I had a shock

  9. After checking my bank account and double checking to make sure I had not made a mistake!! I was wondering how much did everyone spend?

How much was your ticket? face value or overblown ebay purchase and how much did you spend when you were there, did you take your own food or buy on site. What was the overall cost of the weekend to you?

  10. I like her before I went, thought I may have heard enough of her, but did not want to watch Stereophonics, it always sounds like is he struggling singing to me so headed on off to see Flo.

OMG, really she blew me away, I never realised she was sooo good live, the atmosphere was amazing and when she did "you got the love" I saw people actually in tears with their hands in the air, I dont usually appreciate covers but the girl done good. She was so greatful and happy, such a good feel rather than an araogant tosser stood there with a guitar thinking they are Gods gift, loved every minute of it. I actually put Rabbit heart on the way home and had a little tear myself.

  11. Our friends little sister came, it was her first festival, 2 x girls 19 year olds, they camped on Orange but further away from us. When they pitched up another group of older 30's and 40's people came and pitched around them and told them they were in tehir way, even though they were first, the girls just ignroed them but they could tell the older group were pissing on their tent, when they came back on Saturday they older group had un pitched their tent and chucked it over the fence, it was them, when they turned up they were all laughing and saying, is it moving day??

We just got their stuff and moved them onto our camp, they wont be going to another festival. We were tempted to kick off but when we went over for the clothes they crapped themselves enough realising the girls were with another 20 odd people that we did not need to.

I remember festival when I was younger though and the trouble was allot worse than what it is now, piss throuwing at donnington was imense and, old school raves/gigs have the reputation of everyone being loved up but there was nothing but fighting and trouble as far as I can remember

  12. You should never stereo type and I always try not too but as soon as they turned up and started refering to each other by names like Boss Man, Ash and G, I sort of guessed they were not there for the music, maybe the Coral but that would have been it, their happy hardcore on their Mp3's was a massive give away.

I heard them say they had got 300 through the gates on one of their face book profiles alone, it was interested to spectate in this scam

  13. I had the best time.

The line up for me was not too great and usually and I torn between who I want to see and clashes, this year I did not give two hoots, I spent time inteh Barcardi tent with my friends, in the last few years I would never have considered watching Florence and she was amazing, came away a huge fan.

The traffic was tragic but in convoy with friends, we had a laugh, we drank more, we spent more time in our whole group rather than people being split between bands.

I felt sooo sad on Monday going home, had a fab time, Yes you are going to get pissed up people, yes youa re going to get ques and yes the toilets and fookin rank but its a festival, if its not what you are looking for, I suggest going to the proms in the Park.

  14. No, we did not report them, they were surounded by all our friends and they were meeting with different camps every night, some of us had our children with us, in all fairness peoples tents can get robbed no matter who you camp next too and I have been lucky and not had a thing taken over the last 5 years of being at V.

I know someone who might have taken a shit in their ruck sack before they lef though

  15. We were camping on Orange and we joined at the side of us by 3 x scouse lads, they did not mix and were very quiet, did not seem like your typical musical lovers. Anyhow it turned out that they were there as part of an organised gang who were bringing people in on Fake wrist bands, they were on their phones all night organising meeting people at differnet points and getting the wrist bands to them, they charged £60 per person for the whole weekend and reduced this to a day ticket wrist band for £30, they had people finding them and thanking them all weekend and the more they drank the louder they got. They were ringing people telling them the thousands of pounds they had taken and aranging to meet them to pass the money over. Not only were they there on fake wrist bands they also started to ask around for empty tents on the Sunday night as there were so many people with no where to sleep. Cheeky f**kers.

  16. Saw two young ish girls, one of them pushed her friend into another group of girls, when the other girls moved away or looked the girl who had pushed then pushed the bigger group of girls, obviously trying to casue trouble, I saw them do it again later and a women turned on them and head butted the girl, ha ha result.

I did see some bits and bats of trouble but overall there was a good atmosphere and now where near as bad as the piss throwing Oasis fans last year.
