Interesting to see who act like twats during this

I would hope this may in the future rein in the excessive money being played on wages for players, (i cant see how any player is worth over 200k a week regardless of how such a footballers career is)

however doubt this will ever happen..........

  2.

Less money and worse players is relative to what is at the league at the time. In Germany he had 1 big team to overtake, coming to the premiership there would be 4. Its easy to say he could get them consistently in the top 4, but for that to happen someone would have to consistently drop out.

I think with his (Klopp) reputation and the attraction of the EPL, Liverpool would be able to source the players to knock either Arsenal or Man United out of the top four places on a regular basics

(Although if English teams continue there form in the champs league will may only have 3 teams soon!).

  3. dammit, I thought the Arse would 'ave 'em, but not quite as well as they did.

    Wenger has discovered tactics.

well going on a whim but i think the most important player was Coquelin, he provides a better balance to overall team and arsenal might have finally found a pretty decent DM,

  4. i was at the game aswell last night, atmosphere was great, probably the only redeeming feature for me (as a pompey fan),

think we had the best of it for the first 20 mins, then once we found out we werent going to blow them away we just look awful

  5. But that presumes most footballers are good role models, when quite cleary there is a fair number of them who are not. We shouldn't be teaching our kids to hero worship the famous and putting them up on a pedstal anwyway really.

Agreed with Neil and TheGayTent, his served his time and should be allowed to resume whatever previous career he had. Its not like his crime is actually going effect his job or put more people in harms way. if a club and the player are willing to take the stick they will get then I can't see why he shouldn't be allowed to tbh.

I am suprised no one has mentied Lee Hughes?, i know his crime is different, but i think the precedent was set with him, he was allowed to come back to football so why shouldnt Evans?,

my perspective, i dont think he should be allowed to pay football until he has served his whole prison sentence (i.e another two years), on priniciple i would not want to support my team with someone who has committed a crime as serious as this but sadly morals and priniciples went out of the window a long time ago,

  6. I asked some people about this not long ago and no one knew. The only thing I can come up with is 6 teams in each group, with 2 going through to the next round.

They can't add groups as there'd be the wrong number of teams in the knockout stages.

    Wiki...

To accommodate the expansion from a 16 team finals tournament to 24 teams, the format will be changed from that used in 2012 with the addition of two extra groups in the group stage, and an extra round in the knockout stages. The six groups (A to F) would still contain four teams each, with the top two from each group still going through to the knockout stage. In the new format however, the four best third-ranked sides would also progress, leaving 16 teams going into the new round of 16 knockout stage, ahead of the usual quarter-finals, semi-finals and final, and only 8 teams going out at the group stage.[13]

This format generates a total of 51 games, compared with 31 games for the previous 16-team tournament, to be played over a period of 31 days. UEFA's general secretary Gianni Infantino previously described the format as "not ideal" due to the need for third-ranked teams in the group stage advancing, leading to a difficulty in preventing situations where teams might be able to know in advance what results they need to progress out of the group, lending to a lack of suspense for fans, or even the prospect of mutually beneficial collusion between teams.[13]

  7. but surely Wembley would pay off for them, because of the big capacity and the fact of being relatively local?

Plus, I'd have thought that Wembley would bend over backwards to get them. It needs all the revenue streams it can get.

Is Melvin Benn still the Wembley boss? Maybe I should email him and ask him what he'll do. :P

although i think they do spurs do have a preference for Wembley, from what i read,

Wembley is only allowed to host so many events a year due to licencing restrictions (think it was 27),

although i wouldn't be surprised if a "Deal" was done to allow this to increase

  8. Some interesting loan rumours flying around, Toby Alderweireld would be a great signing for Southampton but Javier Hernandez to Real Madrid makes no sense from his perspective.

which bench would you rather sit on? Real Mardid or Manchester?

I know which one i would prefer!

  9. We don't think he'll end up at centre half then?

i think ultimately will, but hes at the age where we can cover a few positions when required, i think hes a bit like the OX, who is playing on the wing at the moment, but again i ultimately see him playing in centre midfield, i would like to see

    Chambers

    Ramsey Ox

    Walcott Ozil

    Sanchez

  10. going by his performances in the WC, I'd struggle to value him at £20M.

    -----

Was impressed by Chambers for Arsenal last night. He's a player I had no awareness of before Arsenal signed him, but on the basis of last night it looks like £19M very well spent.

I've no idea how he might compare with Shaw, but there's part of me suspecting that Utd b0ought the wrong player.

indeed, i think theres an outside chance (and theres a few comments on the guardian and bbc) that we may well see him in the Holding DM role this season,

  11. any one else thinking swansea might be in trouble this season?

ive seen they just sold chico flores and hernandez?

they are my outside bet to go down, (i would hazard a guess that bony will be off in the january transfer market)

  12. I am off to travelling around baltic,

was wondering if anyone had any advice on things to do in Stockholm, Helsinki and Copenhagen?

have around half a day in each city, anything that is unmissable?

  13. None of those formations mention the ox?

    Or Cazorla

well I only put the team out that i think Wenger will play,

I think OX future is in the middle and i would much prefer him to wiltshere (as TGT States) has done very little in recent memory to deserve his place in the team,

  14. Last night just proves to anyone having a go at those slagging off Luiz that they were very much misguided in their assertions. If ever there was an over hyped, over paid, rubbish defender it is him. With Silva missing he needed to step up. He was verymuch lacking and PSG must be really pissed at themselves and their poor judgement

  15. If Sanchez does go to Arsenal, how do we think their strongest line up will look?

Will it be Walcott that misses out (on the rare occasion he's fit for selection that is...) ?

well i would hazard a guess, that it will be

    Ramsey Wilshere

    Walcott Ozil Sanchez

    Giroud

(i think there will be the usual problems with arsenal in that in the middle they simply wont be able to complete with Chelsea (aka Mata and Fab) City (aka Toure and Ferdino)

  16. i think I saw claims of around £100M around the end of the season.

They've spent £30M so far (unless anything has passed me by?). They've got a few to sell (Reina, Borrini, etc), so there might be more than £100M.

They're gonna need at least the £100M to make sure they stay in the top 4, I reckon.

I guess a lot depends on suarez, if they sell him that should be at least £60m (could be higher) but then begs the question, who do they get to replace him? i can sense another situation like carroll

  17. I've only just read that the FA had to fly £1.8mil in cash out to Brazil yesterday to pay the players their appearance fees in advance as they were threatening to boycott if they didnlt get cash payments. I wonder if Muntari (physically attacking a member of the team managment) and Boateng (verbally assaulting the coach) took negotiations a bit too far.
