Is this a micro pub or just a general pub that focuses on real ales? I'll more than likely pop down for a couple. Do you know what ciders you'll have on sale at all over the weekend?
We will have the following ciders:
Draught: Hazy Hog by Hogsback Brewery
Box: Westons Family Reserve & Old Rosie
Bottle: Orchard Pig Charmer & Truffler
Fruit Cider Bottles: Herrljunga - Strawberry & Vanilla, Blackcurrant & Lime
Hi there, former Reading resident here - moved to London a couple of years ago, but great to hear you've opened something up in that building. If I remember correctly, when I left the town that pub had not long closed.
If I get a convenient moment I'll try and pop in over the weekend (staying in town rather than camping).
Thanks for your kind words, pop down and hopefully we should have something that catches your eye.

Was in last night, good friendly boozer, a couple of suggestions if I may:
The music was good (I think I heard Yuck at some point) but every pub needs a jukebox.
Instead of the upcoming beers that blackboard by the bar should be used for descriptions of/info on the beers you've currently got on. Trying different beers is fun but it's good to have some info (strength, brewery, type of ale, flavour, etc.) when choosing what to try.
Thanks for the suggestions!
I agree with what your saying, It was pretty much made ( the blackboard) on that day, a kind of my idea but done by someone else. I'm going to get it so it is whats on now rather then on next, as I agree you'd want details on what is there now rather then what is on a few days later!
Thanks for popping in, next time come and say hello, I was working that evening

I've found out the station hill will still be closed come festival time. They will be sending people out the station and down garrard street, then down tot he bottom of station hill, where we are located, so you can't miss us!
-
I shall put our A Board down the the otherside of the station if the worst should happen and the station hill isn't open in time.
If you don't visit us, I'd suggest Milk Bar around the corner if you like Rum!

Haha, sharing platter for one please. Love the looks of the beers you have there. Dark star is a lovely beer.
With our cask ales they constantly change, one cask and its gone. You'll pop in one day and the beers would all be different from the last time you were in.
Having said that Dark Star American Pale Ale is a personal fav of mine so I might try and have some on for that weekend, if only so I can have a few to take the pain away of working all weekend instead of seeing Queens Of The Stone Age

Yep, near the rail road crap. Fingers crossed it all done and open before the festival. I say fingers crossed, fingers and toe's otherwise the footfall of festival goers are going the other way to the festival which is a

The website unfortunately is not a true representation of the food on offer. It was set up by a previous manager and we cannot get access to it! I'd recommend looking at our facebook for more relevant info.
On that note, anyone good at website hacking skills?!
-
We are situated at the bottom of the station hill ( which hopefully will be open in time for the festival). Its along the traditional walking route from the station to the festival site.
Fosters is a curse word around here
We shall be open early every morning to feed the masses, but typically will be serving booze from 12 -12

It used to be the Gay Bar, Scruffy Murphys is now called The Gateway.
We have a brilliant selection of cask ales, local and from afar, with 6 guest pumps, so its constantly changing.
All our keg beers are craft beers and ciders ( you won't find fosters of carling here!) and our bottle range is good also.

Haven't posted here in a couple of years, but I'd thought id pass on some info.
I run a pub in Reading, called The Greyfriar, situated about 30 seconds from the station ( on the corner, used to be called The Malthouse). We are a craft beer and real ale bar, and also provide food.
So if you have some downtime over the weekend and fancy a quality pint of beer or some grub, pop down. We will hopefully be showing highlights over the weekend, as well as classic Reading Festival performances on the TV screen, and we hopefully will be selling crates etc for you to take back to the campsite.
We also recently had Public Enemy stop by for a few drinks after their Reading Gig.

Apologies if this is against forum rules etc, just thought it may be of interest to some
Have fun at the festival, im gutted I can't come, first time since 2002 i've missed

was well disapointed a few years back that Neil Hamburger went on early due to a cancellation, then got booed off after 10 minutes so i missed him. So if he was welcomed back ( doubt it) it would be good
Other than that id take Henry Rollins every year till the end of time.
And Brendan Burns

Primavera for my tastes, and for the music geeks. Rock Werchter for the sheer sizes of the acts playing.
-
I meant does it really matter? as in the few people getting upset that they havn't been announced ( i still believe they will if your that certain, its certainly plausible and there's always an act or two held back till after download). It almost as if some people are acting like Neil deliberatively thinks they are playing just to piss people off, which obviously isn't the case.
-
theres always one or two bands that are often a "dead cert" that ultimately never appear. Does it really matter?
-
At The Drive in shouldnt clash with The Cure, alot of muso types will want to see both bands, so having two seminal bands from an older generation clash at a relatively modern day music festival would be sacrilegious.
-
haha I know he wasn't being serious.
But on a serious note, im returning to the festival If The Cure don't clash with At The Drive in.
Not gunna camp, as theres far too many cretins, but with it on my doorstep im tempted
