  1. ummm not following your opening statement.. but anyway.

You have picked contrasts that suit your opinion.. ( as I have too ) but for me the underlying ethos of the festival of 'earlier' years was my preference. It is not a question of who I would prefer to be in charge, just voicing an opinion on the direction.

Hope that is alright with you.....

Yep. It would be quite tragic really. A load of people desperately trying to recreate glastonbury at a pale imitation of the place. So much of the appeal of glastonbury is its mystique. Why would anyone pick this new festival over any of the other hundreds of options?  Because the woman who thought bringing beyonce to the pyramid stage was a good idea is in charge? Dont make me laugh.

Moving the festival would sound it's death knell. I'd give it 5 years.

Agreed. Something has gone wrong with the direction of this festival...And I think it becoming increasingly obvious where  the reason for that lays

  3. So once I got over her looking like she had come straight from the PTA after a few too many vinos....she eventualy won me over. Something to be repeated and a bit more in line with headliners of the past before glastonbury wanted to become just the biggest / best.

  4. Sounds awful, any music on at strummerville this year? I think they got serious financial problems after strummerville few years back but doesn't sound like glastonbury done them any favours. Sad days indeed.

  5. Below was written (by someone much more eloquent than I ) about an island but I think it perfectly fits for Glastonbury..

"Things change and that’s how it should be but I wonder what will happen when only hipsters remain, when everything that used to be reality has become nothing more than a slogan to attract tourists and more tourists are just seeking and paying for something ‘exclusive’. Things change, Nostalgia though is an atavistic feeling of the most human kind. It is the feeling of desire to return. The etymology of nostalgia is greek and literally means pain of returning. But nothing returns and that’s what hurts. People love things just as they are. We are prone towards paralysis wanting everything to stay the same. We anchor ourselves to situations and things and we remain tied yearning for idealised better days. But things do change, its inevitable and if they stay the same its just an illusion, our self-deception. Blindness born of despair…..What would have been revolutionary and original at the time has almost become just a slogan for tourists looking for folkloric appeal, when it used to be something natural"..

  6. Trying to decide where to go??

Late introduction to festivals, so only have last 2 years at IOW to compare to but now looking for something with a bit more to offer. Will be camping with a reluctant partner and my son 14 who is open to any music / comedy / activity.

What are the best bits likely to be? I know I should just try it and see but can only afford the one....

Is village fete with some cracking bands far off the mark??

    Cheers for any info.
