  1. Elbow as amazing as ever. Bloody love them!

With regards to the organisation, we stayed in the Discovery arena most of the day and although there were queues for beer, loos and food we fared ok, and manged to be quite lucky with that.

I do think that maybe they could have had people pouring and others serving in the tents like they do at other festivals and events. And yes BARB in plastic bottles would have been a godsend. Oh and also the staff behind the bars, some were pretty useless, didnt know what real ale was what and couldnt add up.

As for getting out, we were pointed in the wrong direction for getting the coach back and when we finally realised we were going the wrong way, trying to get back with the rain coming down and lack of lighting was pretty horrendous. Falling down ditches and over machinery, encountering barbed wire! I suprised we managed to get back in one piece.

I can completely understand why they had to cancel it for the Sunday though.

  2. I want to see Stoke go, and Everton. I doubt they will, but those are definitely my first 2 choices of the ones that might. For the first time since they came up Stoke look like they might just be dragged into it. And I really want an end put to this 'Moyes is one of the greatest managers around' myth. Everton may not have spent this season, but they've bought expensively in the past, they're consistently shit for the first few months of the season, which over 1 or 2 seasons can be put down to injury luck, but over 7 has to be put down to a failure in pre-season.

(It's too much fun beating Sunderland for me to want them to drop, funny as it would be)

I'd quite like to see Wolves go down as well. Dirty fuckers. Fouled us over twice as much as any other team in the league last season.

I think there will be a cull of NW teams though. I don't see how Wigan can get out of it this time though. If he continues his form from the weekend, Moses might be able to do what N'Zogbia did last season, and if Rodallega hits form again that could be just enough, but N'Zogbia's goals and assists in the 2nd half of last season earned an even greater % of their points than Van Persie's did for Arsenal January-May. Whether Blackburn stay up seems entirely dependent on when Kean gets sacked. If he gets sacked after the weekend, they've got enough talent to pull themselves out of it by May, if he gets sacked in the business end of the season, they won't have enough points on board for anyone to save them. I think Bolton will get out of it eventually. They're inconsistent, but they do really shine at times, and I reckon Coyle can bring in a bit more consistency. Holden comes back from injury sometime next year, add in a signing in January, and they should have more than enough. I reckon a promoted team or two will drop as the 2nd half of the season comes round. Swansea, despite their lower points total, look in the best shape to me, as they're not conceding many against anyone, and scoring just enough to beat the teams around them. I think the egos and sulkers in QPR could lead to a fallout, depends mainly on how well Colin keeps them in line.

  3. I actually played on that stage a few years ago, I'm really upset by it, didn't sleep a wink last night thinking about it. Lovely festival, very professionally run, it's been going for 20+ years so I don't think it a case of them beign cowboys, just freak weather...

  4. To be frank I never found her attractive anyway, I often wondered what the fuss was. She did one album which was not to my taste, and very little after. I wonder how she will be musically remembered in 20 or so years time?

In saying that I am pleasantly pleased because my daughter is in to Nirvana and Kurt Cobain, and I had the opportunity of telling her what it felt like to listen to Nevermind for the first time. I wonder if similar could be said of Amy Winehouse, or was she just burned out after that one album.

  5. Luckily I saw Radiohead in 1993 at the Windsor Old Trout + The Highbury Garage, Reading Festival, The Astoria etc.. I didn't have to watch them at Glastonbury with a huge amount numbnuts..

  6. Listen, I go Glastonbury every year apart from this and I leave no trace. I take all my crap home and when I have a pint I put the cup in the bin or beside (as 99% of they time they are full)I said I wasnt a greenie not a f**king litter lout.

However I dont buy into the green party or alot of the bollocks they shout. Over the years some of their policies haves turned out to be absolute shit, scaremongering or lies!!

Nuclear power station will be the end of us etc etc etc

Also I dont believe in global warmimng, I think its the earth taking a natural cycle. I maybe be wrong but did we not at one point have an ice age which melted, yet there was no carbon emissions?!?!?

So can someone please tell me why I should not be at Glastonbury, unless you are a pretentious tree hugging twat.

  7. Music can only ever be subjective but I think Kid A is Radiohead's crowning glory. From what Ive read online I'd say that these days Kid A is seen on a level with Ok Computer by most music critics and fans alike.

  8. I'm still just disappointed that they haven't really got radios for their heads, I mean not even one of them is wearing a radio on his head

    still, david cameron likes them.

  9. i'm kinda gutted that i missed it tbh, would have really liked to hear the new material live. not sure what everyone's problem is... obviously they're really different but i think In Rainbows and KOL are really good albums and surely fans of radiohead would be stoked to get to see this new material for the first time??

  10. I wouldn't have minded if all there output in the last 5 or 6 years wasn't totally pretentious bullshit and if I hadn't missed the 2 acts on the line up I was desperate to see to witness this waste of my time.

Radiohead fans come in many flavours and before I continue I'd like to state that after their 2009 Reading set I was blown away and am a big fan of them live even if I find their post OK Computer records a bit wearing. it is my opinion that everything since then is over-rated and there are a faction of fans that get on my tits by claiming it is the greatest piece of art ever created with hidden meanings and unique divine genius. Or something erring towards that. All I hear (and even if I do say it myself I do have a certain level of taste) is over worked, over produced, pretentious crap. They over play the intense artist card and come up with tracks that are actually dull as they are trying too hard to reach some higher plain that doesn't exist.

Call me a pleb, press the negative button if you really want but I am simply saying what many music fans are too scared to say these days. It seems that if you don't like Radiohead's latest output then you are an idiot, know nothing and have no taste. This is not true. The people who think this are in fact arrogant twats and that is the end of it. Music is subjective and Radiohead seem to have gained a plinth where no-one dare criticise them. Well f**k that!

Regarding their actual performance it consisted entirely of The King of Limbs and some of the better tracks from In Rainbows and whilst that is fine for some it wasn't for me and I missed Mumford and Sons and Chase and Status for it. Not Happy. Also got called a w*nker for leaving before the end. Not appreciated but for me sums up the people who like the new stuff as much as they do.

Just my opinion and I am sure all present company are not the total arse holes described above smile.gif

  11. im a big Shadow fan, but still the first time i had seen that Shadowsphere show and was very impressed, and going off the noise of those around me, i wasn't the only one.

but i'd have to say as a dance music lover before any other, going to 'watch' a DJ is maybe missing the point a bit. get your head down and your feet moving (mud permitting), cos ultimately a bloke or two behind banks of equipment is nevr going to give you the 'show' that a more conventional band could.

  12. I love listening to dance music at home but find watching them increasingly boring to the point of now wanting to avoid them at all costs. DJ Shadow was just dull as dishwater, together with a few others I stumbled on or took time to go see. People playing instruments is infinitely preferable.

What's with the increase in DJs around the festival. I wonder if it might be cost based. Maybe having to pay 1 person for spinning a disc is much cheaper than a full band?

  13. I think they're c**ts. They represent everything I hate about music. The fact that even hardcore Radiohead fans were pissed off speaks volumes. Maybe if they were playing a good album people wouldnt have minded. As it turns out the the new album is total nonsense. Just like the last three.

  14. I agree with Mardy. I was thinking earlier how much better it is at titp having one massive dance tent (slam tent) than the east, west and wow stage at glasto. The tent there is massive, completely closed off (dark 24/7) with good sound and visuals. The names they get are also bigger and better than say, prof, green ;)

Also to avoid cluttering a whole saturday with hip hop/pop acts they could spread these over the three days in the earlier slots where dance acts don't prevail. Even chuck in some electro-bands in these slots e.g. Naked and famous, metronomy, klaxons-type bands.

  15. One final thing, the idea of big name DJ's playing silent disco sets works in your head and seems sensible, but I think most of them (and their booking agent) would not be impressed at playing a silent disco vs a proper sound system. Most would see it as below them i think.

  16. It is my dying wish to have Daftee Punkee play in their pyramid on THE Pyramid but it will never happen. They DJd once a long long time ago (and I missed that show cos I was making a report to the police at the time.)
