  1. We had twenty-two people trying at different addresses for eight tickets. We managed to get four but hit the sold-out sign after entering the registration details for the other four. We luckily already had our tickets, but I agree this resale seemed pretty brutal. There also appears to be little to no benefit at being tech-savvy these days. During the initial sale, my mother-in-law got through twice straight away on her phone. This time we used VPN’s all over the world, multiple wifi and 4G connections, and were trying various tricks, but nothing worked.

  2. **Warning**

I've spent the last few days researching Campervans, and there is one company that keeps appearing all over Google ads and on Facebook too. The adverts vary, but it sometimes says something along the lines of 'Glastonbury Campervans from £199'

They go under several URLs such as but not limited to:

    https://www.nationalmotorhomes.co.uk

    https://www.motorholme.co.uk

    https://www.festivalmotorhomeshire.co.uk

The main thing to look out for is their headoffice address which is: Fairways, Toft Road, Bourn, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, CB23 2TT

They are running a scam where once you have booked you will slowly be informed of everything that you would think is included that isn't. For example: No roadside breakdown cover, only half a bottle of gas, no tools to refill the water tank. The list goes on.

This unfortunately isn't the main problem. When the date comes closer to pick up, you will need to leave a £1250+ admin fee deposit! Not a pre-authorised amount, they actually take the cash. They then take 28 'working' days after the return of the campervan to process a refund.

If you read the reviews you will see, lots of people have had hundreds in deductions taken off there deposits claiming that they sent the van back dirty or some other bogus reason when they're adamant it was signed back in perfect condition. Some have been waiting over six months and still haven't had there deposit refunded.

Cheekily they are currently offering customers who visit there website and don't book a £10 Amazon voucher to leave a positive review, hence why there are so many dubious 5 star reviews, that are just praising how good the website is.

You can see the reviews here: https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.nationalmotorhomes.co.uk

Please tell your friends and family if they're currently looking, a few of mine nearly booked but luckily I managed to get the word around in time!

  3. Luckily I managed to get my ticket and remembered to check my registration details, however a fair few of my friends didn't.

They only checked last night and realised the registration number had expired!

Will registration re-open before the re-sale?

  4. Every year I always struggle to get tickets on my own computer, however one of my mates always gets through in the first half and hour and luckily is able to buy everyone’s tickets.

I genuinely believe it’s mainly down to what ISP you’re with and the way your packets of data are routed. What makes me think this? Well I tried to connect through my Wi-Fi on both my computer and iPhone and it would just timeout (I tried doing a traceroute to confirm this and was just getting a timeout response and some very laggy responses from the last hop). However as soon as I turned the WI-FI off on my iPhone and used the 3g connection I could instantly join the queue. I turned it back on and was getting the timeout errors again.

I also think there’s a possibility that once you get through theres a gateway that priortises you and lets you reconnect, this gateway will only give out a certain number of new slots every minute and possibly only a certain number to each IP block. That’s why when you’re in, you’re in.

    Anyway, my setup:

    1

Provider & Area? Virgin Media, South Glos

Browsers? Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari (iphone)

Success? Constant time-outs, didn’t even see the queue screen

    2

Provider & Area? O2, South Glos

    Browsers? Safari (iPhone)

Success? Was put straight into the queue, connected to registration screen but kept crashing when I put in my details. By 10am a friend had purchased tickets for me.

  5. Defiantly the best year ever! Awesome weather, awesome nightlife and some great bands, not the best music in my opinion but that's not what Glastonbury is about for me.

It was also great to see Glasto was fully prepared for the football, even if England wasn't!

Only slight negative was the toilets, to be honest they don't really bother me, but after using the ones at Download this year I really don't see why they don't use the same contractor. Download toilets were always clean, fully stocked with toilet roll & sanitizer & to be fair as good as using the toilet back home.

  6. If you can get access to a Costco best deals I could find were:

£9.45+vat for 20x440ml cans of Bud

£15+vat for FIVE litre boxes of wine (White 13% & Red 14%)

£12.85+vat litre bottles of Smernoff Vodka

  7. Since o2 are only allowing existing customers to buy the phone I expect there will still be stock after Glastonbury. Plus in a weeks time the hype will have died down a little & people may well be saying it's a piece of crap.

Although the devil in me is saying do whatever I have to to get the upgrade asap, Glastonbury is forcing me to do the sensible thing.

  8. Some good advice, it's just a shame they don't have the same company offering lockers that are at Download! Ok there £15 for the week but you get a socket to charge your phone from, invaluable to anyone with an iPhone (car charger socket) you can only get into the area if you have a locker & every locker is monitored by CCTV. You even get to keep the souvenir combination lock at the end of the week!

  9. Have they downgraded there system for this year?

At least in previous years once you were in you could whisk your way through the process.

I've had to click back so many times and retry after filling out each form I've lost count.

As for there being a secure connection, I should not be able to go back after submitting my credit card details and have the form already completed. At least that page should have expired.

I tried clicking back and submitting my card details 3 times. I don't really want to try and more than that in-case it's debiting my card each time.

    Yet again, what a joke.

    Edit ---------------

Finally managed to check my reg details after clicking back to the first form and resubmitting for 5 min's. It says deposit paid! Now to wait and see if they have debited my card 3 times :)

  10. Last year Trash City totally blew me away, I was expecting something similar this year in Trash City/Arcadia but OMG they have totally taken it to the next level. It’s like something you would expect to see in a decent themepark but better and with lots of fire effects. Was truly amazed at the effort gone too for 3 nights.

  11. I didn’t manage to see any bands or much of the festival apart from the camping area, cos I was looking for my mate Steve, I looked in 1237 tents for him but no luck!

Dunno how you guys knew it was my birthday weekend, and I’d be coming round to visit, but guess that’s just the famous Glastonbury spirit everyone was talking about.

Got £16k as people had left me out all sorts of presents, I only really wanted money so returned most of the other stuff for refunds.

Also got a brucy bonus 152 passports, I didn’t bring any ID as I’m only 17 so cheers for that guys.

Never found Steve in the end, remembered as I was leaving he’s in Bournemouth and couldn’t make it. My bad.

Will be investing most the money in getting my cousins in next year 75 hands are better than 1! It will be my birthday again then, so they can give me a hand! Looking forwards to seeing you all then.

Oh yeah just realised this was the theft thread… someone stole 2 cans of cider and my camping chair. Guess that’ll teach me for staying out all night =\

  12. Legendary idea, some randomer’s we bumped into on the Thursday had optics on the back of there wheelchair!

The guy who was actually disabled was sat on the floor, telling my mate to touch her forehead, and think healing thoughts to try and heal her!

My mate was a bit apprehensive at first as he thought it was a bit out of order, but eventually did it as all there group chanted for him to cure her! She then magically sprung up and shouted “I’m cured!”, it certainly got a fair few people laughing! (only really acceptably funny as it was the disabled person who’s joke it was :D)

Heres a photo of my mates getting a shot of rum afterwards as a reward for his healing powers!

  13. Every year I seem to spend a lot less than I expect! I took £200 this year, as I thought if I need more there’s always cashback/cashpoints. I only spent £120.

I did bring a couple of litres of vodka and plenty of cans of cider, managed to get through all of that too.

I spent around £50 on food and soft drinks, which meant I spent about £70 at the cider bus. That’s still 21 pints I guess and to be honest, I wasn’t trying to be conservative with my money at all.

  14. Yep O2 were defiantly shockingly bad yet again. The only way I seemed to get a batch load of texts were when I eventually managed to call someone without getting network busy/no access to network messages at one point I think I counted 24 all coming through at once. I also know a fair few messages never came through, as I get a text from my bank every day which didn’t arrive and a few people I have spoken to since I got back said I didn’t reply to there texts.

It would be nice for the networks to get there acts together as we are paying for a service after all. However we went old school and really weren’t relying on phones by the end of the weekend, meeting points/times were a lot more reliable.

On another note, was anyone else a little ticked off with Glastonav and the way it would launch itself everytime a new message came through from Orange? I know this didn’t happen on my mate’s phone, he just got the same message as an sms, so was there a way to turn it off?

My battery died twice because I didn’t check on my phone for hours, then when I did Glastonav had zapped loads of power by launching itself. My phones an oldish k770i I use for festivals, and usually it can last a good 4-5 days on one charge, plus I took a spare battery.

So wasn’t too happy I’d that already gone through an entire battery by Thursday evening.

  15. First time goer to Glastonbury was eventful and great with yet a downer to actually end the festival. My girlfriend and I had our tent stolen, my sleeping bag, pillow, deodorant and both of our ipods, now I know what's coming about the ipods in the tent being stupid, which is true. Everyday prior to that we had carried them in either my pockets or her bag but for some reason on Sunday we forgot them, both of us had a sense something was up with the ipods as we was out, so as we was returning to our tent around 6pm which was on the field opposite the Guardian lounge in front of all them rest posts, we found our tent had gone but bags of clothes, drink etc where all left behind. We are very greatful to the family behind us that actually packed our stuff up instead of leaving it laying there so anyone can take it.

What does baffle us is why don't people actually report this and how can someone not notice a guy dumping stuff out of a tent and obviously taking it! It's baffling, this is one of those inflatable tents, which chucks up and opens, not easy to put away I'm told! It left us FUMING with rage, more so my girlfriend at that point than I because it was her tent and the first time she actually used it, report was filled, doubt anything will actually come of it. We spent our night up in the Welfare which we are greatful for, decided to kip on the sofa but only slept from 4-5. Nice people up there, just kept helping us out with anything and everything (minus the ipods). It's just total frustration that he had to be OUR tent, feels like somebody has been watching us the whole time and just pounced when we went. Oh well in the end you could say karma helped us and gave us a roof over our heads when it really did pour down.

  16. We were fine for almost the whole festival, however one of our happy campers had his tent stolen on the Monday morning! Yes you are hearing right, his entire tent! I think someone must have thought we had left. We came back to find all his stuff on the floor and the tent no-where to be seen.

We did all find it pretty funny, guess you have to laugh sometimes. He was just happy someone didn’t pinch it on the Thursday morning. Its kind of like coming back home to find someone has nicked your entire house!

  17. I ate pretty well, most of it was great. Looking back though I didn’t eat that much, think my belly was always full with cider!

    Weds: Pieminister 10/10

Thurs: Wedges Stall (in-between pyramid and other stage) 8/10

  18. Yep all of our campsite was gutted when we walked around craving garlic to find an info point! =\

Really hope it makes a return, I know they had trouble the year before last being closed down from selling the garlic bread, not too sure about last year. Just hope there not banned.
