  1. Have been to both and i'd say it depends what you want in a festival really, both totally different experiences.

Obviously Benicassim is guaranteed the good weather (putting aside the freakish storms of this year), plenty to do during the day, beach, town etc. There is more of a party atmosphere at Beni, a lot more people on drugs and really friendly crowd barring a few pricks which you'd get at any festival, helps if you try to mingle with the spanish they are really nice people, learn a bit of spanish before you go if poss. All night festival so you can stay on the site til the sun comes up, main acts don't come on til 1am and dance tents stay open til 8am i think, there is usually a rave organised by the local gypsys somewhere near the site tho these lot do look like extras from Mad Max!. Beer and food are reasonably priced for a festival.

Lowlands is a bit more laid back, the weather can be as dodgy as British weather, a lot more younger people 16 - 20 years old, saw hardly any drug use, a Dutch guy was telling us they have really cracked down in the last few years, most people drinking coffee. Most of the action is finished by midnight with just the dance tents open, campsites fairly quiet, you can actually sleep if thats what you want, hot showers, good food

  2. Doesn't seem too bad at all really, the rain may be mainly overnight and wed and thurs can be spent under some sort of cover, at least sat and sun when you'll be at outdoor stages it should be mainly dry - friday seems a bit hit and miss, bound to rain during arctic monkeys certain romance though, did that at leeds fest last year!

  3. The BBC weather website has been updated for next five days, showers and sun until monday, light rain tuesday and SUNNY INTERVALS wednesday and not a hint of rain, we may be putting tent up in glorious sunshine yet! (the king of optimism!)

  4. We are at the stage now when the forecasts will have some real accuracy. And we all know it dosn't take much rain to turn the place into a mud fud, and it looks like we will have that rain, right at the start of the festival - in fact we're already having it (have you seen the news today?)

I think what it boils down to now is are we going to have a reasonable amount of rain, perhaps a few sunny days but it'll just be sticky mud an inch deep everywhere OR a complete 97-98 style bath with trenchfoot etc...

What makes me think the latter is a possibility, is the horrendous amount of rain we've been having in the past few days, and that rain is likely to continue over the next few days, giving very soft ground, and a downpour will happen on tue/wed. Beyond that is down to the gods, but we will have a wet glasto. My hope is that after the rain, it gets nice and hot, and by saturday, you can sit down!

But, prepare for the worst chaps!!!

  5. The Met Office updated forecast for Tues 19th onwards for the south-west is VERY promising

whilst southern and eastern areas have the best of the dry weather with sunny spells and just isolated showers. Temperatures mostly near normal, although warm in parts of the south early and late in the period

NOW CAN WE STOP PANICKING!!! :)
