  1. Guns n roses already signed up to download festival and the isle of wight so the rumour goes. yeah and they are too expensive for glasto as the previous poster said. will probably rule out a few others who prefer to do their own tour like prince in the past and ac/dc

  2. the lack of respect a lot and i mean a lot of people seem to have for the land and general environment. never seen so much litter on the main fields and campsites, with people just trashing their tents before leaving them ruined. look if you're going to leave your tent at least leave it in good nick so it can go to benefit someone else. also the increase in peeing in the streams and discarding of the laughing gas canisters (more widely usewd than ever it seemed to me, despite the warnings). what's worse is that a lot of these folk must have visited the greenpeace field and read the warnings but just carried on littering. i picked up several pieces of broken glass from near my tent. our group all bring bin liners to tidy up,not just our stuff but whatever we find, and make an attempt to have a recycle bin for cans plastic etc, but this year the litter has terrible - the worst i have seen in 14 years of coming to the festival.

i fear for the festival's future, i really do

  3. I've been to Bingley. It had Buzzcocks, PiL, James, Reef, The Levellers, and admittedly some modern day landfill indie. Not exactly a cutting edge festival.

that year it had jake bugg as well so its not all about older acts

  4. James have/are headlining a number of festivals this year, probably more popular than they have been in a while.

and unlike a lot of comeback acts their latest album is actually pretty good

  5. It is but they do a few different options. Lamb beef or veggie I think.

Got three on Monday last year for less than a quid each as they were shutting. Massive and filling. Would never pay full price though.

They're not a rip off but for me I'd rather be having something a bit different for a couple of quid more.

Three? Bet you've still got some left now

  6. one thing i've learnt is that you really want the week before the festival to be pretty dry and nthere is less chance of the ground getting churned up. most bad years seem to occur when rain falls of already pretty saturated ground

  7. first meal of the day is crumpets from the strumpets, with a decent coffee from a stall nearby next to the bridge. then its over to the bakery to stock up on sausage rolls and lardy cake (a filling food if there ever was one). and i'm in the oggy camp as well for at least one of the days

evening meal is usually something like a nice burrito, or a wrap from the smokery, or possibly a square pie if i'm in the area.

the other notable thing about glastonbury is eating my meals at ridiculous times

  8. Well all i can say it that its a good job social media wasn't around when Pulp stood in for the Stone Roses - imagine the vitriol then. Instead the rest was history.

Florence and the machine have just produced an excellent album - by far their best and what an opportunity to show it off. This could be the making of them.

Having said that i hope the rest of the day's bill is added to, otherwise there will be a perception that the organisers have taken a cheap option, the money saved from the foos can go to book a couple of decent bands to play after motorhead, and the remainder swell the coffers of greenpeace, oxfam etc. i'm sure no one would have a problem with that

  9. i saw them at hyde park too last year and they were ok but not as good as previous times i had seen them. lemmy left the stage for a while and they filled with a drum solo. if you are a muso, phil campbell is a bit of a legend on guitar and pat the drummer is one of the best around. the setlist is a bit tried and tested these days and will probably include a few songs from recent albums. the classics should be along the lines of

    stay clean

    metropolis

    going to brazil

    killed by death

    ace of spades

overkill - which they usually finish with

they don't seem to play bomber nowadays though

  10. we've only ever done big ground - nice view of the site and can see the Tor in good weather. not too far to walk from gates b and c and reasonably quiet at night with no main late night stages nearby. also close to acoustic and cider bus 2 areas i frequent

  11. been to every one since 2002, bar 2008 and last year. 2003 was great, and 2009 had great headliners and backup but its 2010 for me. great weather all weekend, the wombles, and watching the mighty LCD Soundsystem playing one of their last ever shows on the other stage as the sun dipped was a special moment

  12. don't know if this has been mentioned but Garbage are starting up a tour soon, playing the whole of their debut album. so far just a few spring dates in mexico and autumn in the UK, but that leaves a summer sized hole to fit in a few festivals. and they have done glasto several times before

  13. much better sacking V off and heading over to Latitude this year - much better line up and 3 days instead of 2 (always thought V a bit of a rip off with only 2 days for the price a lot of other festivals charge for 3.

  14. After reading what Stu H says about See tickets upgrading its process I fear it may well be over even quicker this year than in previous years. Don't be surprised if it's not sold out within an hour!

As the other thread said, see tickets decides how long the sale will take. it has the ability to slow or speed up sales to achieve this. my betting is a similar length of time to last year (assuming no major technical breakdowns)

  15. talking of heavier bands enter shikari were really good too. wonder why eavis won't book many heavy bands, when he does they always get amazing crowd reactions. would love to see ac/dc have a go at the pyramid headline
