sorry to ruin the fun but isnt 'plus special guests' the name of the actual band/artist...?
it might not be in this case i suppose, but i've definitely heard of a band that go by that name from somewhere....

yeah shuttle buses are on every day, and there's always plenty of taxis around if you're feeling rich!
some people don't like day ticket holders camping (because they haven't paid to presumably?) but it doesnt bother me really as long as you're not putting up another tent or anything
they do keep saying they will crack down on day ticket holders camping afterwards but i haven't seen much evidence of that so far... and the site layout hasn't changed this year as far as i know so probably nothing to stop you

toilets are pretty yuck but it's all part of the fun i suppose... although i wouldnt suggest camping too nearby
cant speak for the showers, never used them and don't know many people that have/do to be honest!

yeah this is also how i understood it - that 0-15 year olds need to be accompanied, but you're ok if you're 16.
but like people have said, no need to worry, your chances of finding a friendly face in the queue to 'accompany' you (that is if they're at all funny about it) are pretty high!

yeah you get your festival ticket on the coach i believe. not been on one though so couldn't tell you about atmosphere sorry x

I agree. Fifth time at festival after always doing yellow and did brown this year and it was my best year yet. Is was a lot more chilled out, but still lively enough. Plus everyone seemed okay, we had a good laugh with quite a few camped by us. It's a bit of a stretch to the arena, but I think I'll be doing brown again next year.

Flights don't sound bad, are those the prices including all charges??
Yes those prices are the same if you buy at the station. However, it is worth checking out if you can get any advance discounts at trainline.com... or if say buying two tickets is cheaper than one return (i.e. return manc airport - manc piccadilly, and then return manc - leeds).
National Express coaches will no doubt be doing plenty of Manc-Leeds coaches which will probably get you right to the festival grounds. I have no idea how much these are though (others might have some idea?) and you would still need to get to Manchester city centre from the airport.
