  1. Caught this article over the weekend whilst I was stewing at home - hope you all had a blinder! Hadn't noticed it posted elsewhere

    http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/no-glastonbury-festival-in-2017-eavis-confirms-as-future-of-event-remains-uncertain-9571625.html

Basically says 2017 will be the next fallow year and that it may all end in 2020 after the 50th Anniversary! :resent: Although Mickey E may just be teasing as he did in 1999 when he said it could end after the millennium!

  2. The Glastonbury Festival is upon us once again and many festival-goers are pondering over what to throw in to their rucksacks before dashing off to Somerset over the next day or two. Obviously, with such a large open-air event, the weather will play its part, with many hoping that there will be no repeat performance of the heavy downpours and mud baths that occurred during the 2005, 2007 and 2011 festivals, to name but a few.

So what attire would best suit the occasional this year? Current forecast models are a little unclear detail-wise at this stage but unfortunately, the weather does appear to be taking a turn for the worse towards the end of this week and in to the weekend.

Heres MeteoGroups latest thoughts on what is likely for Glastonbury for the following few days (read on, if you dare)

Wednesday: With many people hoping for some dry and settled weather to pitch their tents tomorrow, things are looking promising. An added benefit will be the dry ground underfoot, thanks to little if any rainfall recorded over the last couple of weeks or so. To start with, there will be variable cloud accompanied with some sunny intervals. Through the afternoon, it should stay dry with a better chance of some sunshine. Temperatures will peak at around 19-20C (66-68F).

Thursday: Following a dry night, Thursday will dawn fine with spells of sunshine and just a little cloud. Through much of the day in fact, the weather is set fair with more sunshine to come although cloud will tend to gradually increase as the afternoon and more especially the evening, progresses. This cloud will herald some showery rain spreading in from the south-west overnight. Thursdays highest temperatures will peak at around 19-20C (66-68F).

Friday: Low pressure will begin to dominate the weather from Friday with a greater chance of unsettled conditions in and around Glastonbury. Although difficult to pin down the exact detail at present, the day looks rather showery. There are indications that some rather heavy showers even thunderstorms could affect the region at times but in between these, there will also be sunny periods. The chance of showers should slowly recede through the evening and night. Maximum temperatures for Friday: 18-19C (64-66F) but dropping by several degrees in any heavy downpours.

Saturday: A few showers are likely to develop during Saturday morning whilst in the afternoon and evening, that risk looks set to increase with a greater chance of some hefty showers breaking out. Equally though, between any showers, there will be some drier, brighter conditions. Overnight, the threat of showers will remain. Maximum temperatures 18-19C (64-66F).

Sunday: Being far-ahead, in terms of weather-forecasting, precise detail is uncertain but forecast models continue to show a fairly showery pattern. There will again be the potential for some heavy downpours across south-western Britain, including Glastonbury, with these possibly slow-moving (thanks to light winds) and thundery. However, in between the showers, the sun should make an appearance. Top temperatures will reach 17-18C (63-64F).

Monday: For those revellers who have made it through to Monday and are planning their departure/escape, showers are again likely but with suggestions that these will be fewer and further between compared to the weekend. Maximum temperatures 18-19C (64-66F).

In summary, after what looks like a promising start, there will be a threat of showers through Friday and the weekend, which have the potential to make things a little soggy underfoot (and maybe worse this is Glastonbury, after all). But it might not all be doom and gloom. Showers rather than persistent rain are more likely and if luck is on the revellers, organisers and participants side, most of the showers may just brush past the event itself. Our advise: have those wellies and kagools to hand, just in case, and for a heads up on any approaching showers, try our WeatherPro app (available on android and iOS), which amongst other things, provides rainfall radar imagery and a detailed weather forecast.By: Gareth Harvey WeatherPro App

  3. Sadly I won't be there this year but I wish you all a safe, sunny, dry festival. As someone who made it through 97 & 98, enjoy it for what it is, the happiest place on earth. See you next year......

  4. This is not meant to sound mean but we have definitely been duped as non one can buy a ticket for someone without that persons reg number and for that reg number to actually work,Not one of you have actually said you have got a ticket today. Goodbye

Well, I can get through to the payment page every time, not sure if it will work as still waiting for calls from some people to see if they fancy trying at least. No way I'm paying for 4 tickets on my debit card. Based on what some have said, it may let me through then say 'unavailable' - who knows, but no need to have a go at someone for being helpful. I'm going to have to wait until tonight anyway now so I won't know till later. Not holding my breath though. Peace

  5. I didn't KNOW it was a hospitality reg number tho and just got all excited the fact i had gotten thru and wanted to share!!! Was only trying to do a good deed and try for others.........

Mine isn't a hospitality reg. Anyone else tried with a reg number that hasn't been used?

  6. if i were you i would just get yours before something happens! as it looks as if only some regs are working

Maybe some sort of loyalty ticket allocation??!? Seeing as I've been going for years and missed out this year? I appreciate you are all waiting to see if I get one but not sure if I'm gonna do it.... waiting for call back from boss, mates etc.... Probably be gone by the time they get back to me but hey ho, it's Karma man, if it's meant to be it's meant to be..... I'll keep you posted.

  7. F*ck me! I've just got to the payment page!! I don't have a ticket, wasnt going to go this year, but wooooahhh, now I dunno!!! F**k, f**k, f**k!! Need to make some calls.............

  8. First time I've been able to come on this site since me and the crew missed out.

There's an entire village in mourning. We have all been regulars since 1994 but were unable to get tickets. In fact not one person in the East of Scotland from Aberdeen to Fife that I know of got tickets (and I know a lot of people from this area that go ) At first we were sure there was some kind of conspiracy but at the end of the day it was probably just down to luck. Feels very weird though. I guess we all became complacent because we'd always managed to get the tickets in the past. Maybe it's just time for someone else to go.

We'll all no doubt try again in the resale but for some reason I think 2014 just won't be my year. Well done to all those that did get tickets, oldies and newbies alike! Have a ball! It'll be strange not coming on here to check the weather threads etc. but I can't face it. I'll pop in around April time but until then enjoy the build up. That's the best part of it. Chin chin.

  9. I've been in the pub every night since Tuesday (Stayed locally on the Monday night). I seem to have this urge every night after eating to go and sit outside a bar with a pint and people watch, however seeing as I live in a small town, there's not much to see. I then return from the pub to watch Glasto highlights. It's beginning to fade, but I'll likely do it again tonight.

I also keep looking for alternative festivals over the next few weeks that I might fancy going to, to see if I can recapture the spirit of Somerset. I live just along the road from T in the Park as well but cannot bring myself to go back to that god awful place. For people complaining about knobheads at Glasto, you've clearly never been to TITP! (personal opinion of course).

  10. Like a previous poster, I was up at Strummerville on the Friday night and saw Lily Allen (didn't realise she was with Jaggers daughter though) Lily almost got in to a fight for being an obnoxious twat, the smoke from the fire was getting in her eyes so she moved her chair across to the other side and asked a couple to move so she could sit there, they refused and Lily started getting a bit lippy. The couple were having none of it but eventually moved once surrounded by Lily's hangers on.

Bumped into Michael Eavis next to the Cave in SE corner early on Friday night, had a chat, handshake and got my photo with him, thoroughly nice chap considering the amount of people who must stop him on his travels.

Jarvis Cocker walked past me at the beginning of the Stones set near the official t-shirt stand to the left of the Pyramid and Alex Jones from the One Show was nearby too.

  11. Not sure if this has been posted previously but the Met office have a nice little Glasto section with interactive map and infographic thingy. Only goes up to Wednesday so far.
